These are well made, keep things cold very well, and do it for a lot less than a Yeti. Of course the downside of these coolers (as well as a Yeti) is they are heavy. Otherwise, it's what you want for a long trip/day out to keep your food cold

    • The Handle is the Weakness

The construction of the cooler, the lid, the latches, the insulation are all tops. Fantastic. It will keep a dozen drinks cold on 7 pounds of ice even if you leave it in the sun for two days. RTIC brand rocks. Had to say the best things first, as this is a great, 5-star cooler with a 2-star handle. The ends of the handle are not affixed to the sides, they pop out freely when you pull sideways (a temptation when pulling it from the car) or load the cooler and tilt it. Another nit is that the rubber feet on the bottom have popped out a couple of times when dragging the thing and are difficult to put back in (I had to use silicone grease). I'm getting one with side handles next time... but I'm keeping this one. It just does such a good job, as a cooler. And it is rightsized, for serving two to four people; not too big, not too small. ... show more

I read all of the reviews. I bought a chest. I tested it in my garage, not the hot trailer it will be in for the long trip. One day the bag of ice was all melted except for a small amount maybe a cup. Full of water. For the price you would think it would work. My igloo which is too big for the trip, keeps ice for days in the sun in the summer! This is a garage in Maine 75, maybe 80 degrees tops on those days, not higher. I would ask for my money back but, the box is gone. Never thought it would not work, it's a cooler, it should stay cold for goodness sake. Lousy product. Should have bought a Yeti!!!! ... show more
