this bike arrived in a box with loose sides, no tape was holding it together, just the folded flaps, but luckily the contents were unaffected and everything was included. balance bikes are amazing and a great way to skip the training wheels and this one is pretty similar to spendier ones, in the sense that your toddler isn't going to really notice a difference. though some may be bigger, have actual adjustable handles, and handbrakes, it's true that some are even smaller, have EVA tires...there's a decent variety out there, gotta find one that feels like a good fit for your toddler. i've had some that were suitable for children as young as 18 months old but this one is better for nearly 3 - 5 years, though it may be small for most 5 year olds, they can still use it and get a sense of balance before moving on to a pedal bike. overall recommend, though there may be better options out there. ... show more

I got this Royalbaby balance bike for my 4.5 year old who isn't quite riding a 2-wheel pedal bike independently yet. He's been riding it around our unfinished basement. My husband set up the bike and found the directions problematic because the handle bars that are provided are not the ones in the directions. We had to watch the assembly video to know how to assemble. Overall my husband didn't know if he liked how the front handle bar and fork assembly is attached. It does ride well and my son caught on quickly! Awhile later we found... The main photo in the listing shows the bike we got. Currently the 6th photo is wrong. The installation directions in the photos of the main listing are correct! Confusing... but we got the job done! ... show more

The assembly instructions I received were for a different model bike, and not only that but the picture of what goes where is so small and unclear there is no way to use it for assembly. The image on their product page is a little more helpful, but even then it shows a quick release, which isn't on this bicycle, and it shows the little soft top cap going on backwards (the velcro has to be on the front of the handlebars to go on). It's as if they don't even know how to assemble the thing really. Also, I am just assuming that one of the pieces that it showed is one that was already permanently attached to the bicycle. You also have to make sure to tighten the handlebars with the hex wrench so they control the front tire and don't spin on their own which I didn't see noted anywhere. The instructions and it being unclear about this vs. that model of bike make this all seem a bit sketchy to me and possibly unsafe. That said, once I got it together, which I think I did well enough in the end, it does seem like a nice enough bike and my kids are enjoying it. We are just using it on a flat surface for a while in case anything malfunctions (not too many hills around where we are anyways). I like the pneumatic tires, and even though there isn't a quick release on the seat it is adjustable with a hex wrench just like some other bicycles we have. I don't think I would recommend purchasing this unless you are an expert at bicycle assembly because it'd be too easy to get things wrong and assemble it in an unsafe manor without better instructions. There are a lot of other balance bikes out there; skip this one. ... show more

My little guy was so disappointed when he outgrew his last balance bike. So he picked out this color and was so excited when it arrived, couldn't wait to ride it! He said it was perfect but the handbrake and now he had a foot rest!

Balance bikes weren't a thing yet when my kids were little. They learned how to ride their bikes by their dad pushing them along for a bit then letting go. After so many falls, eventually they balanced and pedaled as a means of survival. It's how we learned too. It seems cruel looking back on it. Thank goodness that's not how most kids learn to ride a bike now. Everything I've read about learning on a balance bike seems like the right way to do it. I got this for my grandnephew who is about 2-1/2 now. He hasn't been able to really try it out yet because we've had so much rain. But he does what he can it what little space he has in the house. And so far he loves it. I cant wait to see him really take off. I feel a little like I'm getting another chance to do things right. ... show more
