Description

Cats can be very good at hiding what’s ailing them. However, you can find clues in their litter box. Lots of stinky stools could mean your cat has a sensitive stomach and digestive tract. Sometimes regurgitation can be an indicator that your cat is eating too fast to even digest and absorb the nutrients they need. Regular regurgitation may indicate a more serious issue, and you should consult your veterinarian. Royal Canin Digestive Care Dry Cat Food is made for cats with sensitive stomachs that tend to scarf down and regurgitate their food. The exclusive ring-shaped cat kibble encourages your fast eater to slow down and chew thoroughly. Highly digestible proteins, including a blend of prebiotics and dietary fibers, help balance the intestinal tract for healthy digestion. This precise diet is proven to be effective after 10 days with over 95% healthy stool quality. Try pairing this dry food with Royal Canin Digest Sensitive Wet Adult Cat Food formulas for a meal your cat will love. With over 50 years of scientific research and observation, Royal Canin continues to deliver targeted nutrition to feed every pet’s magnificence. Not satisfied? Then neither are we. 🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

Royal Canin Digestive Care cat food has mixed reviews. On one hand, it offers digestive relief for cats, improving their well-being and reducing episodes of vomiting and diarrhea. On the flip side, a change in kibble shape has upset some cats, resulting in less chewing and a return of negative digestive symptoms.

Pros

  • 🐈 Helpful for cats with sensitive stomachs and dietary issues
  • 🍴 Encourages slow eating and chewing in most cases
  • 💪 Appears to improve the overall health of pets

Cons

  • 🔄 Recent change in kibble shape not liked by all cats
  • 😾 The new kibble shape can lead to a return of negative digestive symptoms for some cats
  • 💲 A bit on the expensive side

Should I Buy It?

If your cat has a sensitive stomach and has no issues with changes in food shape, the Royal Canin Digestive Care cat food comes highly recommended by a majority of customers. However, beware of potential initial backlash to the change in kibble shape, particularly if your cat has come to enjoy the previous product's form factor.

  • Excellent product
Size: 6 Pounds (Pack of 1) Style: Cat Food
Excellent cat food. My kiddos have been on it for the last two years & they like it. Not so much the wet ones but the dry ones smell like fried chicken. Highly recommend.

  • Shaped for Chewing
Size: 6 Pounds (Pack of 1) Style: Cat Food
I have a long-haired ginger cat who has issues with hairballs. I've tried different brands and formulas to help her and found these to be her favorite. The shape is round with a hole in the middle which apparently helps her to break up the food rather than swallowing it whole. All I know is that she gets excited when I tell her, "Gilly, donuts!" and put them in her bowl! During the Pandemic, Royal Canin was out of these and I scrambled to find a replacement. Nothing really satisfied her like these. I was so happy when they returned to stock, but disappointed to find they were making the kibble "fatter" in shape instead of flat like before. Nonetheless, she continues to eat these on a daily basis and it keeps her regular with fewer hairballs. ... show more

  • Wish it was in bigger bags
Size: 6 Pounds (Pack of 1) Style: Cat Food
I really really wish this came in larger quantities. My cats like the food fine and the larger size I think helps reduce the vomiting from one of mine who eats way too fast. The only downside really is it is somewhat expensive and you cannot buy a very large bag, but it is quality food and they eat it so I am going to keep sticking with this for them ... show more

  • Cats love it! Well worth it if you’re tired of cleaning "throw up" from rugs & costly vet visits.
Size: 3 Pound (Pack of 1) Style: Cat Food
The media could not be loaded. It’s probably a throw back to their days living on the street, but both my senior cats are used to scarfing down their food and not chewing properly. Blackie (14/15 yrs old at 20 lbs) is the one with the really sensitive tummy & digestive issues that would lead to the cycle of eating and regurgitating later. He is also the one that had hernia surgery that included a few dental extractions, so the food ‘recycling’ process only got worse and veterinary visits more regular. Our veterinarian recommended several brands of foods to try that were specifically formulated to be easy to digest, and Royal Canin was one. Of course, it was the last one on the list that he liked the most. Kudos for creating kibbles that standout from other brands with a unique donut shape. I can’t speak for the taste, but this is the only food that has forced Blackie to slow down and chew when eating so no more regurgitating and stress on his tummy & throat muscles. Ditto for Sandy, who ‘sneaks’ to eat the food because he likes it, which is a good thing! The Digestive Care formula has another unexpected benefit that I’ve noticed. Since Sandy is on pro-plan weight management, I decided to see how off his diet he’s strayed "stealing' the Royal Canin and it is less calories! 1 cup Digestive Care is 333 kcal vs 1 cup pro plan weight management at 455 kcal! Overall, I’d say the food provides the nutrition both senior cats require in a digestible formula and kibble shape that has worked well for us since 2019. It’s a little on the expensive side, but well worth it if you’re tired of cleaning 'throw up' from rugs and costly vet visits. Definitely, 5-stars! ... show more
