    • HDMI signaling is good, but doesn't implement CEC

I bought this to replace an old monoprice HDMI switch that started having trouble with picture quality (sometimes the image for show static/snow as if it's 1990). The new ROOFULL switch fixed signal issues and the optical sound extractor works great. However, it doesn't implement any CEC logic, it just retransmits all of the CEC messages. Which creates issues like: - auto input switching for for apple tv doesn't work - all of the sources share the same physical address, making it difficult to identify which source is on - a device powering down on an inactive input put the tv into standby mode. ie if the apple tv is on, and then I switch to my ps4, eventually the appletv will power off and turn off the tv in the middle of my game So now I'm using Tasmota with the HDMI cec plugin to track the mapping between logical addresses and vendor ids, and listening for ActiveSource messages and ir blasting the hdmi switch to get input switching to work. And am careful to ensure that the AppleTV is off before turning on my ps4. Its really a shame that the CEC spec is too messy for vendors to properly implement it ... show more

    • Impressive little unit

I opted for this in order to extract 5.1 audio from my Firestick in my (mostly legacy) set up. My pre-pro is a high end pre-HDMI JBL SPD-40 (2004 vintage) that still produces excellent sound (and was over $10k retail). Using the Firestick until now required me to connect it to one of my Samsung TV's HDMI ports and connecting a Toslink cable from the TV optical output to one of the pre-pro's optical inputs. That limited the audio to two channel via the pre-pro and then its Logic 7 processing which does a good job of producing surround, but its not descrete 5.1. In steps this little dynamo of a switcher. I connected the Firestick to input 1, the HDMI ouput to the TV and a toslink output to one of the pre-pro's optical inputs, and voila!, 5.1 into the pre-pro, which sounds as good as my other 5.1 source components. One thing to note is that I had to set the audio output in the Firestick to Dolby Digital. Setting to Best Available or Dolby Digital Plus produced no sound, so you may have to experiment with your settings. Setting the EDID switch to 5.1 or Adv gets me 5.1DD and also 2 channel if the content is only 2 channel I haven't bothered to connect my bluray players through this since there is no real need as they go directly to the pre-pro via optical for 5.1DD and DTS and also via RCA cables for 5.1 lossless audio for BluRay's, SACD's and DVD-Audio's. The TV has enough HDMI inputs to accommodate those players for video. I'm very happy with this purchase. The only almost insignificant nitpick is the fact that the optical output is on the front panel, so you see that cord sticking out in front and then gonig back behind the equipment. We have a new 4K LG TV, but there were not enough hdmi slots left after connecting a Roku and a Tivo to cover five other devices (Facebook portal, DVD- and Blu-Ray players, a Samsung set-top-box, and one other device). So I bought this Roofull hdmi switcher from Amazon. It has worked perfectly since installation. Unlike some other hdmi switchers I have used it’s remote is working perfectly after five months and this remote works from a chair 10 feet away. It was easy to setup, just plug each output hdmi into a Roofull port, connect the Roofull output to the TV’s hdmi port, and power-up the Roofull. ... show more

    • The perfect HDMI switcher

The product works exactly the way it should. Plug and play. No decrease in picture quality, and no delay or frame rate drop when playing video games either. I have my Google TV Chromecast, my Xbox One, my Switch, and my GameCube all hooked up to it (my GC has a component to HDMI converter). I've had no issues at all with the automatic input switch either, works brilliantly. The remote works just fine as well. However, you'll want to make sure the front of the device isn't blocked by anything though, or it won't be able to receive the signals from the remote. Having the ARC feature makes it perfect for those who have an external speaker/surround sound system. Optical Audio output is definitely recommended, but you could use an Aux to RCA (or Aux to whatever) in the Aux port, but you will only have stereo or mono audio if you go that route. Sound is very clear with no audio delay either. My only complaint is that the Optical and Aux ports are on the front and not the back of the device. But that's just my preference and doesn't warrant reducing the 5 Star rating. All in all a fantastic product for tvs with a limited number of HDMI ports. I highly recommend it! ... show more

I did a fair amount of researching before choosing to purchase this hdmi switcher. It's a little more costly versus the cheaper options available, but I do not regret my purchase in the slightest. This one provides 4K at 60hz instead of just 30hz as some cheaper switchers are limited to. It comes with its own power cable which plugs into a wall outlet, so it maintains constant power. This switcher meets and exceeds my every expectation. It is made very well, is sturdy and solid, has an attractive appearance, and both the unit and remote work flawlessly and perfectly. It automatically switches based on which device I'm using, but it's also useful to have the remote that I can use to manually switch back and forth between various devices.
