  • Big Pegs And Small Holes
Color: Tgb -Magic House
This was the 3rd one of the bookend type miniatures I put together and by far the most sensitive to breaking pieces. It startled me that I had so many I was having to mend.It also seemed the holes were all just a bit too small and I had to take sand paper to them to get them to fit.I must say,the finished product was well worth the extra effort.Just note that you need to also take a light handling of the pieces. ... show more

  • Fulfilling and satisfying
Color: Tgb - Sunshine Town
This is the first time I've put something together like this, and it didn't disappoint! I struggled a little with putting up the last "wall", but once I got everything aligned it all snapped into place. I also like that they provide you with sand paper because there are some pieces that I had to use it on. But, I will say if you don't have the patience and/or time, you may not enjoy putting this together. There are parts that you do have to paint, and for me, that took the longest since what I had to paint were very thin pieces. Also, prepping the wires for the lights took some time and patience as well as you definitely don't want to mess those up. Once everything was done, though, it turned out super cool! ... show more

  • Incredibly cute and intricate wooden puzzle
Color: Tgb - Sakura Densya
I love building things and chose this book nook to put next to my Japanese graphic novel collections. The Sakura theme really ties the collections together. I did modify the light switch though... I replaced the battery pack with an Arduino Nano to control the lights on/off, a timer for the lights, and a 5v plug in power supply so I do not have to keep changing batteries. All in all, I love it! ... show more

  • Great DIY project for home decor!
Color: Tgb -Magic House
Bought this because I wanted a fun DIY craft that was a little more involved. I loved the process! Instructions were easy to understand, the pieces were well made and popped out easily, the kit came with everything I needed except for batteries! I’ve never had to wire anything before, but the instructions were so clear that I was easily able to do the wiring properly without issue. Completed the build in about 7 hours, and I already want to get another one! ... show more

  • Middle of the road

Wood panels were warped and caused issues. There were also some mistakes in the instructions and the wiring was a bit awkward.

  • Assembly tips for this cutie miniature
Color: Tgb - Sunshine Town
The media could not be loaded. This was my first attempt at a miniature and thank goodness my husband does model trains, because the Dremel (for sanding down spurs), paints, clamps and decent brushes were lifesavers. The directions were not complete gibberish but these translations might help: "frames"="edges" "spare"="not a spare. Put extras in a labeled baggie and save for later." The flower icon in the directions is not related in any way to the flower petals in the kit, which look exactly the same. I was flummoxed by the wiring and had to resort to a very helpful youtube video which I'm not allowed to link here. I didn't "glue" the wiring down--just used electrical tape, stuck the wires to the wall, and that seems fine. The entire project took days, which is fine since I was snowed in and love detail work. I really enjoyed all aspects of building this except attaching the final wall (not sure whose fault that ultimately was) and getting the film peeled off the windows--maybe try taping both sides and yanking the tape apart? Those were both piles of frustration. Giving the project 4 stars because it takes massive cussing to get the lights to come on or go off with the touch switch. It just seems random and I wish you could just use the on/off switch underneath. At least that works. Also, the white paint provided requires 87987 coats to look decent, so just buy some cream-colored model paint and save yourself some heartache. Overall, an absolute success and I'm going to try the Japanese alley next. Update--I used a space heater that was on the floor to do the "heat tool" thing. It worked fine. Also, about the pics in the directions: Black things mean "you've already done this part." Straight lines at completely right angles are wires for the lights that can not possibly make right angles. ... show more

  • Best kit I've tried so far
Color: Tgb - Sunshine Town
I held off on reviewing this one because I wanted to test out a few kits, but this was probably the best beginner friendly kit I tried, definitely recommend for someone who wants to test the waters before taking the plunge into the hobby. I didn't know anything about wiring, but I was able to figure out and get the lights working. I also took some artistic liberties with the painting just for fun, and I liked how it turned out. ... show more

  • I love it, however...
Color: Tgb - Sunshine Town
It did take awhile, not going to lie. I started at 10am and didn't finish till 6pm almost nonstop working on it. This was my first booknook so I was pretty happy with the instructions. Except for a few things. Some of the directions were confusing and hard to understand. One issue I had was with the light post, you have to have some sort of heating tool to heat the tubing and the bend the tubing. I didn't have that, just a hairdryer that doesn't work real great so we have what you can see in my picture. Also, I got so frustrated with the flocking-like bush thing, trying to glue it to the pot was like hellish punishment. Frustrating. You also do need wore cutters for the other pot behind the bush. I did break a few of the joints and had to glue it as a fix. That was irritating but whatever, it was a few pieces. Now let me tell you the balcony part and the book bay window were a pain in the you know what! The electrical parts was actually very simple and thats coming from an electric circuit IDIOT. It turns on fairly well but sometimes it does not turn on to my finger and it may be that I didn't fix the wires in the right place in the back. All in all, cute and worth the money spent and I recommend it. ... show more
