I don't use this anymore, but when I DID use it, it was very helpful. The reason i bought it, was because I used it for vlogging with the Canon EOS M3, which has a flip UP screen so I can't use the mount for a mic AND see the screen. So instead I bought a Rode VideoMic Me, which mounted to my camera via a wall mount cable holder thing. But that mic is for phones and doesn't work in cameras....without this splitter, that is. So I used it for that and it worked fine. I ended up getting a new camera (EOS M50), which allows me to do what I want, and mount a better mic on top, because the screen flips to the side. So I no longer need this, nor the mic I used it with. But it's still good for those that do need it. ... show more

  • Near perfect, but don’t let that Near stop your purchase
I bought this to do on location interviews and video recording for my podcast and YouTube channel. We don’t have much of a budget so flexing our phones or tablets is a must for us! The SC6-L is a brilliant device, I bought it on the premise that I could connect two lapel mics and record on the go. It works beautifully...as long as your connections are solid or if you bought Rode’s lapel mic ($60-80). I used a 3rd party mic from a friend that has two bands on the adapter, this is NOT the same as what Rode uses. This means the operator has to be diligent when inserting the mic otherwise the RODE Reporter app will not record any audio. Sometimes it isn’t an issue, and other times it is a HUGE pain in the butt. Just a warning that I did not know up front. ... show more

  • EXTREMELY USEFUL FOR ZOOM USERS > at least with lapel mics...
style: SC3
OVERPRICED AS ALL HECK > It does a good job though, needed it for a H1 Handy and a Lapel Mic... :: PROS :: 1.) It's pricey and shipping sucks, but it's super useful for audio work. 2.) A must have for H1 Zoom users with lapel mics. 3.) NO STATIC OR DROP IN SIGNAL PICKUP!!! :: CONS :: 1.) Too expensive in my opinion for what you get. 2.) No PRIME at the time of my order :( 3.) Shipping fee SUCKS!! :: OVERALL :: This is super useful, a must have for any Zoom users with various mics. I would buy another one, but too much money & shipping. Lets you hook up less expensive lapels mics or other odd mics to your digital recorders. I did NOT suffer any signal loss or static with this device. I USE IT WITH THIS MIC & A ZOOM H1 Handy >>> Lavalier Lapel Microphone Clip-on Omnidirectional Condenser Mic for Apple iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Samsung Android and Windows Smartphones Film Interviews Vocal Video Recording (Black) ... show more

  • Great form factor but too noisy for my purposes
Since Amazon likes to mix random product reviews together on one page, this is for the SC6-L audio interface for iOS devices. UPDATE: I feel a little dumb, but finally realized you need TRRS, not TRS. Using the correct cable solves the level and noise issues described in my original review! So now I’d say this is a great value if you want the most compact audio input for an iPhone. My use case was a little different than the intended dual microphone set up. I wanted a small and easy way to get a stereo line-level signal into my iPhone from my computer’s audio interface. The first issues I had were user error as I assumed you needed mono TS 1/8” cables, which were causing issues with the signal where I could barely get any level. After realizing I needed a TRS stereo cable I got much better level but there is audible noise in the signal. Amazingly neither Amazon’s support nor RODE mentioned this detail. However, the real problem is that low and medium settings still clip the signal when even when your input is only at about 50%, while the high setting adds too much noise. You’re left with a cleaner, but low volume signal or a noisy, but high volume signal. So I couldn’t find a way to adjust my gain staging to get a good clean signal. I’ll admit this could be an impedance issue since these inputs are expecting a mic level signal, so maybe you’d be fine for it’s real intended use. On the other hand the Roland Go:Mixer, which I just bought for close to the same price, has tons of clean gain, with more input options and physical gain controls. The downside is it’s larger and not as pocketable. ... show more

  • Not a thing wrong with it - if the SmartLav is actually the right mic for your application
style: SC3
I'm not sure what all the complaining is about here. The SmartLav is specifically advertised as being designed for smart phones - which necessitates the use of the TRRS plug on the mic itself. This adapter should probably have been included with the mic, but that's a knock against the mic, not this item. Also, remember that the SmartLav is a dynamic mic; not a condenser. If you're using something like a Zoom Hx series you need to make sure it's setup correctly (go to the "Input" settings in the menu and set "Plug-In" to ON) Anyway, it works as intended and it's reasonably well built. I've used the adapter successfully with my Nikon DSLR and with an assortment of outboard audio recorders. Order two because you will lose this thing. I knocked off one star due to the spotty availability here on Amazon. In fact, as I write this it's out of stock. Seem like a cheap enough part that they could keep enough of them in stock.... ... show more

  • does the trick but is not perfect!
style: SC3
Although this is a handy piece of hardware, it does convert the TRRS to TRS correctly however some digital audio recorders do not except this conversion without a lot of play with the cord. Having said that the overall purpose of this product does meet the expectation. I bought this to convert my Rode Smart lavalier mic to work on my other audio devices other than my smart phone or tablet. In some cases for instance with my Roland R-05 Digital audio recorder, that unit does not except the conversion with ease. However on many of the video cameras, and cheaper audio recording devices it does seem to do the trick and it does it very well. However if you want a true TRS microphone I think the Best route is to buy one that is already wired with a TRS connection. Anytime a conversion cable is required there is always the possibility of difficulty, interference etc. I hope anyone looking at this comment takes what I say with a grain of salt. The item does exactly what it says it does, however to keep it simple it just doesn't work on every device with ease. ... show more
