Description

This Rocky outback's upper was assembled with premium full-grain leather; while it is certainly very soft, the material has great durability and strength. Having a lace-up design on this outdoor boot is fantastic, because it allows you to adjust the fit. This boot has a fully padded collar and tongue to help keep out debris. After all, no one wants to walk around with rocks and dirt rolling around in their boots while they are trying to enjoy their experience outdoors. Gore-tex fabric has been added into the design of this footwear having it ensures that these outdoor boots will remain durably waterproof, breathable and windproof. To enhance your level of comfort within these 8729 boots, a Rocky air-port footbed has been inserted. This polyurethane insert helps cushion your steps and aids in absorbing shock. Are you hesitant about the boot's grip don't be... the outback rubber outsole provides fantastic traction and allows your footing to be steady when you're walking on rugged terrain. Whether you're headed for the hills or going to work, this rugged and good-looking Rocky outback gore-tex outdoor boot (8729) with moc-toe styling will keep you dry and comfortable.

  • Not as it seemed
Size: 12 Wide Color: Light Brown
The boot I recieved is a different color with different sole, the small gold Gortex plate on the side of the boot is not there either. It does fit good and seems sturdy. But the color is not even close.

  • 60 miles and two hurricanes later and still going strong
Size: 9.5 Color: Light Brown
I purchases these boots to help with my growing hiking hobby not too long ago, but I've refrained from giving a review until I'd given them a proper test or two. Nature decided that'd be quite a few tests. Comfort: These boots are nothing special as far as comfort goes. They have decent support but nothing great. They broke in nicely and fit comfortably snug (a desired trait in hiking boots). The toe flexes without pinching or crushing my toes. The soles provide decent support, but I would personally recommend using some aftermarlet insoles such as Dr. Scholl's if you intend to wear these indoors for any longer period of time. My only complain with the comfort is that the ankle is more flexible than I'd prefer, which can result in a rolled ankle or two if I'm not extra cautious when hiking in unsteady terrain. Waterproofing: The goretex layer within the shoe works as intended. I've tread through shin-deep water, with the water line hardly an inch from the top of the boot's tongue and had no leaks whatsoever. The downside of this is that, in order to achieve such a seal, the boot does not breathe at all. It is important to note that this will be an issue for any waterproof boot. Just be ready for hot sweaty feet on warm day hikes and cold sweaty feet on cold day hikes. I've found that water wicking boot socks help mitigate the sweat build-up on warm days and wool or thick wool blend socks help for the cold days. Durability: This, I think, is where these shoes really shine. I've walked through streams and puddles, trekked in rain and hail, and hiled over gravel and boulders in these, dropped knives on them (I don't recommend testing their cut resistance, but they should hold against a dropped tool), spilled oil and stain, fended off my wild pup, and beaten the snot out of these boots. In other words, I've put these through the ringer. hey're tough as nails, with only wrinkles and mild discoloring from the water and a few scratches to speak of. Summary: These boots are beyond excellent for the price point. With the proper socks for the job and possibly an aftermarket insole, they'll last you for as long as you need them without taking a tole on your feet. I'll definitely be looking at other Rocky brand boots for my next pair- if I ever need to replace these. ... show more

  • Runs a little small and very narrow
Size: 9.5 Color: Light Brown
I wear a size 9.5. I've worn a 9.5 with four different brands of boots in over 12 years. I ordered a size 9.5 regular in these and the boot was a little small and very slim. I had an exact pair of these 10 years ago and they were perfect, even at 9.5 reg. I figured I'd wear them and stretch them out some, but was caught in the rain after two days. I let them dry out in the house (about 70 degrees) and they shrank to about a size 9. Couldn't get them on. I just ordered a 10 wide and will update. I agree with others here; Rocky has slipped in quality control. If these new ones don't work, i'll stick with Bates, Red Wing or Danner in the future. Update: Nope, the 9.5 Wide is too long, but the right width. These are the same length as the size 10W. Rocky has turned out VERY inconsistant sizing here. ... show more

  • Comfortable boot but has failed within a year
Size: 10 Color: Light Brown
With less than 11 months of use, I am doing my review of this boot. First of all, let me say I am a fan of Rocky's footwear. Let me say that this is one good looking boot with comfort in mind. Let me begin with the positives. POSITIVES: This is premium full-grain leather that has shown durability, especially in the hot Arizona desert where I live. The lace-up design has worked well for me. I have had no issues and helps adjust for a well-fit. The gore-tex has worked for me. Although, I primarily use it in dry conditions. I have hiked in the California wet forests and the cold Colorado Rocky Mountains and they have kept me dry. The insert has been very comfortable without much wear. The positive aspect of the outer sole is the traction. It has been awesome and tread wear has been moderate considering the terrain I use it in. NEGATIVES: The outer soles on both feet have cracked with 11 months of use and are now beginning to hurt my feet when I step on uneven terrain and are now beginning to hurt my feet. Although the inner soles still feel very cushioned, it seems that the cracked outer soles have compromised the bottom protection against rough terrain or uneven surfaces. Also the stitching on a seam of the left boot came apart and the same is beginning to happen on the right boot. The leather has held very very good. It seems to be an issue with the stitching. CONCLUSION: I will contact Customer Service via email regarding the warranty of this boot. Depending on the solution, I will keep this post updated and might change the rating of this boot. ... show more

  • Second pair!
Size: 9 Wide Color: Light Brown
I love these boots I’m on my feet on concrete for 45 hrs a week in a shop. I’m a mechanic for construction equipment so they definitely see abuse and my first pair is doing great it’s going on a year since I bought them! I just saw a good deal on these and bought another pair! Comfy boots, better than my old pair of redwing vibram sole boots ($400) they’re holding up better too. ... show more

  • True to size
Size: 10 Color: Light Brown
The major dislike I have is the boots were listed as lite brown. They are really dark brown almost black in color.
