Description

The JawStand XP from Rockwell is your little helper with the strong grip. You don’t need to call down a family member or ask someone else on the job site to help you hold a heavy project in place while you fasten it. The JawStand XP raises 25”-43”, and then allows for 2 extra inches of fine adjustments so you can line up screw holes or just put the project right where it needs to be. (XP stands for eXact Positioning.) It holds up to 220 lbs, and it won’t get tired or complain about how heavy the load is. It has a max clamping width of 1-3/4”. And it’s compact, easy to store, and only weighs 15 lbs, so you can throw it in the trunk and take it everywhere. There are so many uses for the JawStand: strap in a standard door; it’s the ultimate tool for working on bicycles (just flip them over and clamp in the top tube and have access to everything at the height you need); load up a 2x4 and use it to hold crown molding in place. The JawStand doesn’t use rollers like other support stands, which can misdirect the project—The low friction surface provides a smooth release when you’re ready to place the project. Whether you’re a serious DIY-er, a professional woodworker, or a handyman, the JawStand is the perfect partner for one-person jobs that require a second pair of hands. The JawStand XP serves as a second pair of hands for DIY and professional projects alike (view larger). Hold, support, clamp, or lift materials with ease (view larger). Rockwell’s RK9034 JawStand XP serves as a portable work support system with exact positioning—acting as a second pair of hands for common one-person projects like hanging a door, installing crown molding, supporting cabinetry, and more. From DIYers to professionals alike, the JawStand XP improves upon the performance of traditional roller stands to help you get the job done cleanly and efficiently. The JawStand XP’s compact, low-profile design—complete with an extra-wide folding tripod leg stand and column height adjustment capabilities (from 29 to 43 inches)—make it easy to stow away in your workshop, garage, or on the job site without taking up important storage space. But that doesn’t mean it compromises on maximum load capacity: Even though the JawStand XP only weights 13.5 pounds, it can hold up to 220 pounds. Material Support The XP stands for exact positioning, and the RK9034’s low-friction slides are ideal for infeed and outfeed material support for power tools like saws and planers. While ordinary stands have rollers that tend to misdirect the material, such as a piece of lumber, the JawStand XP’s slides smoothly direct it along your intended path. Assembly and Mounting Heavy items like cabinetry are easily supported for assembly or mounting with help from the JawStand XP. With a head that rotates 90 degrees and an adjustable bevel with scale, you can manage exact positioning even under load. Micro-height adjustment raises and lowers work up to 2 inches for accurate placement. Clamping Its swiveling and tilting head with integrated clamp assists make the JawStand XP handy for innumerable assembly and construction applications. Able to securely hold items up to 1-3/4 inches wide, the cam- action clamp quickly sets and releases to allow you to clamp materials of the same size without needing to adjust the clamp width every time. What's in the Box One Rockwell RK9034 JawStand XP work support stand. Highlights Provides portable work support with precise positioning Ideal for supporting cabinets, molding, doors, and similar materials for installation Integrated clamp firmly holds materials up to 1-3/4 inches wide Has no-mar, no-slip feet that do not damage surfaces Backed by a five-year limited warranty The JawStand XP also serves as a sturdy yet portable device for material support (view larger). P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); From the Manufacturer The Rockwell RK9034 Jaw Stand XP is a versatile, portable work stand designed to save you time and hassle. The XP stands for exact positioning when fine tuning the perfect level or clamping for more security. The tripod set up allows for a level and more sturdy work area. The non- marring feet protect your work and prevent damage to both your project and floor. The RK9034 improves the concept of the traditional roller stand, and adds extra features to create a work support stand. The low-friction slides on the top of the stand allow work to pass over it in a straight path. The head bevels a full 90-Degrees. Built into the tilting head is a work clamp, capable of holding material up to 1-3/4-Inches wide. The Jaw stand is perfect for holding a door in place for hanging, or using a 2 by 4 brace to support crown molding while hanging it. The Jaw Stand XP acts as a second set of hands, and never needs to take a break See more

  • READ THIS COMMENT FOR PROPER SETUP
I have bought 6 of these units do date to support the in-feed, out-feed, and side-extensions to the DeWalt portable saw purchased from amazon. The main value of this wood stand over the less expensive version of the same stand is the helical gear fine positioning of the center column. It works great to get the exact height positioning, PROVIDING that you figure out that the instructions leave out a step. When shipped (nicely) the upper fine control is positioned up against the top head of the clamp. If you assembled and tighten the bottom clamp, the upper fine control will not move in either direction. I fixed the problem simply by first lowering the fine control down to the "0" mark and then inserting the column in the base and tightened it. The top fine control will now move properly. The only downside is the amount of shipping cardboard one has to cut up to fit in the trash bin! ... show more

  • Not as useful as you might think...
Note: I got this for $75 over a year ago. It seems to be much more expensive now ($120 as of this writing). The stand has a lot of adjustments and is very sturdily built. I like the fine height adjustment. But when you go to use it, you'll find that it can do a lot of things, but none of them well... - It's too short for most of the stuff I need to do, and I have to clamp stuff in the jaws to get it up high enough to use with my saws - The jaws are curved, but are not slippery enough to replace a roller stand - The fine adjust is nice, but not very tall. The handle is easily bent and comes loose easily - Legs are really sturdy, but heavy - It has a clamp, but only in a small spot in the middle. The throw of the clamp is pretty short; it's only useful for 2x lumber. - A solid "pro" is that the head folds 90 degrees, which makes it easy and compact to store ... show more

  • Very Useful Features, But Not Perfect
The good: Stronger than your typical work stand. Nice features like a built-in height guide, height adjustment crank, and clamping and tilting head. My favorite of these is the fine-tuning height adjustment crank. Trying to get your material supports to the correct height is a pain (like the rollers/supports on a miter saw stand). Setting the height for stands usually means guessing, checking, then re-adjusting the height until it is close enough. With this stand, you can get it close with the main height adjustment and then turn the crank to get the final, exact adjustment. The bad: The clamp and the "locking" knob for the tilting head don't hold particularly great. But they will likely work for most applications. The height markers on the side of the stand seem to be off by an inch. One would think that with the fine-tuning height adjustment set at zero offset, the heights marked on the side would be to the top of the stand, but they seem to give a reading off by an inch. I won't rule out the possibility I misinterpreted something or took a bad measurement, but I haven't figured out what went wrong yet. I was looking for a work support stand to help support material like 4x8 sheets of plywood or extra long dimensional lumber on my table saw, miter saw, et cetera. They have dedicated 3-in-1 stands for this, but most of them seem to have poor reviews. So I went with the approach of getting a Rockwell RK9034 JawStand XP and combining it with a scrap piece of 2x4 and some roller bearings. It was a little more expensive the buying the 3-in-1 stands, but the end result is a much sturdier and more versatile tool system. The roller bearings I used can are here: Set of 6 TruePower 1" Roller Ball Transfer Bearings ... show more

  • Check Those Fasteners !
Great concept, but needs some beefing up. All the tightening points are weak, such as the yellow hand tighteners, and the lever clamp, so I'm taking a star off for that. The really important thing I discovered is the vertical Micro-Adjust lever. This is Very weak, and when delivered none of the stands I examined would turn freely until forced for the first time. Be careful, you can mess up the weak metal handle where it connects. The only direction to travel is in the 'Up' direction when brand new. Once you get it operating smoothly it works like a champ. While it doesn't have anything to do with the adjustment being hard to move the first time - if forced it will strip the weak metal on the handle because of the improper installation of the lock washer and the flat washer. Be sure to unscrew and remove the handle, and ensure that the flat washer goes on first, then the lock washer, and finally the screw. The ones I looked at had the lock washer on first, which will slip Inside the handle and cause damaging issues. The lock washer needs to be between the screw-head and the flat washer. ... show more

  • Helped solve a field table sawing headache.
I work with my portable table saw (GTS1031) in the field and like most portables, the bed is just too small for conveniently cutting long boards or unwieldy items like sheets of plywood or drywall. I have built field-usable side and rear outboard supports using two of these JawStands, six foot lengths of 2x4s, and 1" roller ball transfer bearings (Thanks to Amazon Poster Endres for the idea). Six footers will allow me to split 4x8 pieces either vertically or horizontally in half with no support issues at all.. The JawStands seem to be very well made and have good height and tilt adjustment features to include fine tuning for height. As you can imagine, having all these adjustment capabilities is great when you're out in the field where there is usually no such thing as level ground. If needed, the feet have holes where you could drive in those big steel tent pegs to lock them in place. When using them as outboards without roller bearings, there is the possibility that friction from large pieces might cause the stands to try and tip if the feet are not secured. ... show more

  • Nice jaw stand to have around
A must have jaw stand for the DIY'er. I have found multiple uses for this thing. If you are like me and work by yourself and occasionally could really use an extra hand, well here you go. Worth every penny and the legs fold together to make for great storage.
