Soft, creamy, somewhat moisturizing, semi-opaque/somewhat buildable, however I have to admit the color isn't my favorite. It's more of a dark orange-y brown tone than what I expected from the modeled photos. The pics are bit confusing and maybe I should've gone with "cake" in retrospect to hopefully get more neutral tone and less orange-y but maybe it wouldn't have helped either 🤷♀️ Slight bit of shimmer to it too which I didn't expect, unfortunately wouldn't double as a blush/tint for me then 😭 ... show more

This is my third purchase of this item and I love it. I was an avid user of Bobbi Brown Artstick chunky lip pencil until they discontinued it, which was very disappointing. This lip pencil is very similar to it, so I’m really happy to have found something to replace an old favorite. I guess you can call this my new favorite! This review is for the color “cake”. Application of this lipstick is very easy and accurate. I can precisely apply it to my lips in a few simple strokes without much effort at all. It goes on smooth, and doesn’t appear dry or matte at all. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s “moisturizing”; but it certainly does not dry out my lips in any way. I really like this color and think it is versatile for many different styles and events. It’s natural looking, but also in a way that shows a level of effort and generally being “done up”. Hence, it can work with a very casual look or something a bit more formal. The cap stays on the stick when not in use. I find it so frustrating when that’s not the case, so even though that’s a little thing, it’s important to me. All in all I’m very happy with this product. Nobody would see me applying it and think “Oh, you’re so angry.” My star ratings explained: 5 stars = Exceptional. I recommend to friends. 4 stars = Exceeded expectations. 3 stars = Met expectations. The media could not be loaded. I love the size of the tube and the amount of product seems like it will last a while. It goes on extremely smooth and glides across the outer lip area really nicely. Because it is a thicker pencil I have to be careful not to over line. The color cake is really close to my actual lip color so for me it’s a day time wear and lasts a while. This lip crayon feels nice quality and applies very smoothly. It’s a little more brown than I prefer, but blotted with some lip gloss on top and it looks really nice. I absolutely love the vivid and bold red shade of this lip crayon! I've taken to wearing red lipstick almost exclusively, and this bright shade is exactly what I wanted for brighter makeup looks. The Happy Hour shade is an intense, fire engine red that's more to my preferences than the shade shown in the images. This lip crayon goes on smoothly and evenly, and only requires a few swipes for a solid shade that's long wearing. The crayon applies precisely, and does not need "warming up" to go on smoothly at the first swipe. The lip crayon is not drying on my lips, it is in fact quite hydrating, and I love the semi-gloss finish. The lip color doesn't feather, bleed, even without lip liner, it doesn't get clumpy through wear, and the color stays on for hours through eating and drinking. This lip crayon has no discernable scent or taste, as I prefer in lipsticks. The lip crayon twists up as needed, and the twist is smooth and reliable. The cap stays on the crayon securely, making this crayon excellent to keep in a purse or travel bag. I am quite satisfied with this lip crayon! It's exactly the shade I had hoped for, and the wearability is wonderful. The color is very vibrant, it applies very smooth and easily - but it does wipe of extremely easily. My lips felt super moisturized after applying and felt good, but the lipstick kind of wiped off on everything my lips touched.
