This solar panel has been a great addition to our Ring Spotlight Cam Plus. Installation was very easy, and mounting it to our house was straightforward. Adding and setting it up through the Ring app was also simple and didn’t take much time. We purchased the battery version of the camera and added this solar panel, and we’re very happy with that decision. It gives us the convenience of keeping the camera powered without having to constantly remove the battery and recharge it. The panel is also easy to adjust and position, which made it simple to find a good location for sunlight. It works great with our camera setup and gives us added peace of mind knowing the solar panel is helping keep the battery charged. For the convenience, easy installation, durability, and added functionality, this was a great value for the price. If you have the battery-powered Ring camera, I would definitely recommend adding the solar panel. It has been a great investment and makes owning the camera even easier.

We've had the original Ring Spotlight Cam/Two batteries/1st-Gen solar panel overlooking the driveway for years. They've worked great, but recently the camera decided that one of the batteries wasn't charging, so I replaced it, but quickly found that the camera just wasn't recognizing a charged battery in one of the slots. Pretty frustrating switching batteries back and forth, only for the camera to continually demand I put a battery in "Slot 1," where there most certainly was one. So shopped around and got a good deal on the Spotlight Plus, and decided to also replace the aging solar panel (also avoided getting an adapter to get the older barrel-plug panel to plug into the USB-C slot in the new camera. I really like it. LIKES Build - Ring makes pretty sturdy gear -- both the old camera and solar panel survived a couple of mishaps on the concrete driveway with no issues. The new panel is likewise well-made and intelligently designed. Updated power and connection - Besides the new USB-C plug (a bit easier to use as it has no rightside-up/upside down) the new panel is larger, rated at 4 watts vs. the 2.2-watt rating of the older panel. This seems bourne out by how quickly it began to charge the batteries (the camera came with one, but of course now I have spares because I already had two in the old camera and bought a new one when it was acting up. Cord keeper -- The new panel has a very similar mounting bracket to the old one, and screwed right into the roof fascia board near the camera. But whereas with the older panels (I have two) I had to cobble together straps and ties to wrangle the extra cord, the new one has a handy spindle around the arm of the panel, including small notches to hold the wire in place once you've wrapped enough. A small thing, but a game changer in terms of ease and neatness of the install. No more bundle of cord zip-tied and hanging down (sometimes in front of the camera). The panel also included some cute little clips you could use to run the wire along a flat surface, but my panel is close enough to the camera that I just run it in a straight line (now nice and tight with the spool arrangement). NOT SO LIKES $60 is pricey for a panel like this. You can find compatible 4-watt panels on Amazon for less than half, but my understanding is they won't communicate with the camera, so they'll work, but the camera will never acknowledge it's being solar-charged. Given both my old Ring panels still work, I thought the combination of known quality and having the panel and camera play nicely was worth it, but others may not. Also, I understand instructions for everything are online somewhere now, but a simple diagram of the mounting procedure would have been nice. For whatever reason, I briefly started to mount the bracket horizontally, which would have been structurally weaker than vertically. Yes, dumb me, but a simple drawing would save some people from this issue. Five stars. Love the new cam and the panel and hope they perform and last as well as the 1st-gen setup.

I wasn’t sure if I needed the Ring Solar Panel (2nd Generation) at first, but after using it, I wouldn’t want to go back to relying on battery charging alone. Installation was simple, and the included mounting hardware made it easy to position the panel where it gets good sunlight. Once installed, it has done an excellent job keeping my Ring Spotlight Cam Plus charged. Instead of constantly checking the battery level or taking the battery down to recharge it, the solar panel quietly does its job in the background. Of course, how well it works depends on how much direct sunlight your installation receives and how often your camera records. My camera sees a fair amount of activity, so I wasn’t expecting the solar panel to completely eliminate battery drain. Even so, it has significantly reduced how often I need to think about charging the battery, which is exactly what I wanted. The build quality feels solid, the weather resistance has been excellent, and the cable length gave me enough flexibility to mount the panel in a better location than the camera itself. If you’re buying a battery-powered Ring camera, I’d strongly recommend adding the 2nd Generation Solar Panel. It makes owning the camera much more convenient and is one of those accessories that quickly pays for itself in saved time and hassle.

Note Important: This fabulous solar panel ONLY works with Ring cameras with AUTHENTIC ring batteries. Your camera will still be able to work, but you can’t get live feeds. I had purchased a couple of “compatible” batteries as backups, but they would never work with the solar panels. After discovering that my camera didn’t have RING batteries, I switched them out and suddenly the solar panels worked. I love the fact that I no longer have to climb a ladder (my doctor is grateful) to change out batteries on my cameras. I get very long lasting battery life and quality pictures and this solar is adjustable to fit houses like mine that don’t have a great southern exposure for this to mount on. I don’t anticipate having to change out the garage battery for some time to come.

I have two Ring Outdoor Cam Plus's and, on battery alone, they drain after 1-2 months. Both get only early morning some morning sun, so I was skeptical that solar panels would help. To my surprise, both camera batteries charged from around 40% to over 90% in the first day, and they have remained between 85-99% for more than a month now, in spite of many overcast days. The connector on the Cam Plus is angled downward which forms a natural drip loop at the camera end. Some older cameras don't keep this angle, so a drip loop should be formed during installation. Even though the solar panel connector seems to be sealed, I made sure there was a drip loop there also. The solar panel comes with a very long length of cable, and the bracket allows the excess cable to be neatly wrapped there. I could not figure out how to mount the panel so its bottom edge is parallel to the ground and it is also aimed to the sun path. But I don't mind that the panel looks a little cockeyed. Small price to pay to avoid spending hours charging batteries by AC.

Bought a panel and all it did was drain my battery from 100 to 20% over one day. However, I called ring support and they ate now sending me a new panel at no charge. But I have 2 at my mom's, and they've worked great. So 4 stars.

I bought this Ring Solar Panel along with a Ring Spotlight Camera Plus. It has worked great! I installed the camera onto my fence looking at part of my back yard and the gate going into my backyard. Since I cannot hard wire it, and did not want to keep recharging the batteries, I decided to give the solar panel a try. It only took a couple of minutes to screw the backplate onto my fence and attach the solar panel onto that. From there, I plugged it into my camera on the backside and I was done. It came with all the required hardware needed. I place the camera right next to it, so the 6.5 foot cable was more than enough. It has an adjustable arm that allows for easy tilting and readjusting. I placed mine at a slight angle so the fence wouldn’t cast a shadow on it and it could get the maximum amount of direct sunlight. It gets approximately 8 hours of Sunlight during the summer. According to the Ring app, my camera’s battery is at 100%. I have been using it for 3 weeks and my camera is frequently used since I have dogs. I haven’t not had to manually recharge my camera at all! It has held up well against rain, Texas heat, and wind so far. I haven’t noticed a decrease in battery performance changes during cloudy days or multiple overcast days. The adjustable arm has stayed in place and hasn’t moved, even after windy days. I haven’t tested it against hail or cold temperatures yet. I haven’t had any issues with the weatherproof connector. I do wish it had more security to it, because someone could easily come by and remove the solar panel. It has been a very effortless way to make sure my camera stays charged. If you have a ring camera that can’t be hardwired because of its location, I highly recommend getting this!

I bought two and do not regret purchasing these to power two of my battery-operated outdoor ring cameras. I got tired of swapping out the batteries and pulled the trigger on these. They keep my ring batteries fully charge, I have two in each camera. I no longer need swap batteries every 3-4 weeks. Depending on where you installed your ring camera and what might block out the sun, I highly suggest getting the USB extension cord to get the most use of these during daylight. Build quality seems fair. I say fair, because this item is somewhat light for its size. Very easy to angle it once installed for best sunlight exposure. Sure, they are priced higher than third party ones, but Ring with its somewhat proprietary nature, makes it a hit and miss with off brand ones. Highly recommended for those that are tired of swapping out batteries.
