  • Easy to use! A MUST HAVE! Read my review to see how it’s helped us!
Style: Device Only Size: 1 Camera Color: White
I’m not too good with technology so I was worried about trying something like this out. Now I’m in love! I got this to put in my elderly fathers home so that I can see him and talk to him when I’m unable to be there. I am also able to keep an eye on the nurse to ensure he’s being properly cared for. This was so incredibly easy to set up thankfully because I’m not too good with all this new technology. I am able to see and speak to my dad, and he understands it’s coming from the camera, however, he can not see me. Would be nice if I could find something where he can see me too? But besides that, this camera has been amazing and reliable. To see the smile on my dads face when I speak puts a smile on my face. He told me he feels like God is speaking to him haha. His nurse said said that I can be heard loud and clear as if though right there speaking to him. My dad is hard of hearing, yet has never had a problem hearing me. And his television is usually blasted! There are a couple great features with this camera. When you go on to check the live feed, you can remain mute allowing for a quick easy check and not interfering with anything. Nothing lights up that I am aware to show I am peeking in on the nurse or my dad. The viewing is crisp and clear and a great wide angle to see wherever you want to see that you’ve placed the camera. We put ours in the living room as to he only has a one bedroom apartment. There’s a microphone button you push to unmute so you can speak, whether muted or not, you can hear everything going on there and the volume is crisp and clear incoming as well. This has been very handy when I DoorDash him and I need to tell him to open his door! The 2nd feature I love!! Is the alarm. I ran into an issue where my dad had not locked his door, and a random homeless person entered his home. I pushed the alarm button and it is so incredibly loud, it frightened the person out of his house AND got the neighbors attention (he’s in an apartment) who was over within minutes to make sure everything was okay. When the person left, and I seen the neighbor enter, I stopped the alarm and explained why I had set it off. This was my first time using the alarm, and even on my end it was so loud it startled me haha. It’s a wailing deafening siren alarm. One time I thought he had fallen, and did the alarm and the neighbor came again. He was okay, but to know I have that alarm gives me peace of mind when I can’t be there. All in all, I highly highly recommend this to anyone in a situation as mine. My dad, despite being elderly, uses a walker/wheelchair and has beginning stages of dementia, is stubborn and doesn’t want to live in a home or with me. This camera has made it possible to allow him his independence and I wish I had known about it A LONG TIME AGO! I was scared of being able to figure it out and it was so easy! There’s also a chat where they can help walk you through any questions or concerns. Again.. highly recommended!! We can allow our loved ones to remain at home and it’s almost as though you’re there with this camera. I can work, my dad can be independent and this camera has saved us and kept our situation stress free!! For his privacy, we don’t have the camera angle to where you can see his bedroom or bathroom. We can see his full living room, kitchen and dining room which includes his front door so we know who is entering and when. ... show more

  • Support is the Star of This Product
Style: Device Only Size: 1 Camera Color: Black
There are so many who are far more intelligent than me about technical aspects of a video product. I really am a novice when it comes to these things. By and large, the Ring video products all seem to be excellent to my untrained eyes and ears, and this one is no different. Hooked it up, followed the instructions, and it came right up into my existing Ring app with all my other doorbell and camera devices from Ring. But the reason I took the time to come and write a review was because of the tech support we received last night. We got this tiny little indoor cam because I'm going to have a rather extensive surgery soon, and I will not be allowed to go up and down stairs for 2 weeks after. So we're turning our dining room into my recovery bedroom, which is a blessing. But the Hubs doesn't want to come clomping down the stairs making a bunch of noise if I'm asleep. Of course, you can "drop in" using an Alexa device, but that makes noise and requires a response. I mean, "Are you asleep Honey?" isn't a good thing to ask if you want your spouse to stay asleep, right? So we got this little, affordable cam. The Ring account is on my phone, so I wanted to share the camera with the Hubs. We followed the instructions as we believed we should, but it wasn't working. So at 9 p.m. central time, I called the support number, not expecting a whole lot of happy to result. I could not have been more wrong! The gentleman on the other end of the line was patient, professional and very kind. The Hubs and I were both able to hear and understand him perfectly by working on speaker phone, and in less than 10 minutes, he had us up and working as we hoped. It's such a relief when a company hires competent and caring tech support representatives. I thought someone might want to know that this one definitely does. ... show more

  • Set up was an incredible PIA. You'd better have a resident geek to help with this.
Style: Device Only Size: 1 Camera Color: White
Just as an intro, I build computers as a hobby. We purchased this device intended as a Christmas gift to help us monitor our grandbaby when babysitting for her at the house. I finally got around to setting it up on 12 January after building a stand for it to fit on the desk. The stand it comes with does not permit swiveling so we had to buy an additional set of mounts to enable this. The first step in set up was downloading the ring app. Of course, it assumes the worst, thinking the only reason you might have purchased this device is to monitor security in your home. You'll be asked innumerable times for your username and password as well as having it send 2-factor identification requests to your cell phone and your email address (which better link to your cell phone). Fortunately, I had read the minimal installation guide which warned that after activation the device would likely update its firmware, which it did. During this period of time the device intermittently cycles power and the blue light (indicating brain activity) may go off for several minutes at a time. You'd better not unplug it or cycle power during any of these intervals or you will likely brick the device (i.e. kill it for you noobs). My primary Wi-Fi router is located quite close to our grandbabies most likely sleeping quarters. I initially attempted set up using the access point located in the middle of our house however, although listing the access point as available, the ring camera refused to connect with this device due to the distance-weakened signal (this camera would NOT detect any of our 5Ghz channels). This probably means we will not be able to use the camera in any other location in the house (we sometimes relocate her sleeping quarters into the master suite where primary Wi-Fi access is through the access point - which has a different SSID). I would've hoped this device would at least have been as smart as my cell phone which connects to any Wi-Fi signal in our house. Not surprising ring would attempt to maximize profits in this way by requiring you to purchase and set up a new device for every Wi-Fi zone you have. After about 20 minutes or more of fiddling around with the ring app and all of its security questions and web links I finally shut everything down in frustration and did 40 push-ups to cool off (just kidding - I likely couldn't do 10). I restarted the ring app, logged in to my account, and wonder of wonders, I could see the baby's crib on live view. The image was actually crisp and clear, and with the lights on the view was in color. With all the lights off (it was quite dark in the room) I could still clearly see a gray-scale image with excellent contrast and clarity. The next challenge was adding my wife as an authorized user. It seems like this should have been quite easy and straight forward so I added her email address and sent the invitation (the instructions never said she should install the ring app and establish an account first). Of course, she saw nothing new. The light bulb then went on, and I told her to install the ring app. She had to go through the frustration and multiple 2-factor authorization requests while establishing her own account but managed to do that - and when done, was also able to access the camera view. This camera is truly intended as a security device with zone linked motion detection and alarm settings. Image recording is available for an additional monthly charge following the initial 30-day activation (certainly not needed for a baby monitor). I initially awarded this device only 3 stars due to the extreme complexity of initial set up, however upgraded this to 4 stars for image clarity and Internet access. I wrote all this just to let you know if you are just looking for a Wi-Fi baby monitor with Internet access, there may be much simpler options out there for you. You have been warned. ... show more
