  • Form and Function - Perfect!
Style: Ring Alarm Configuration: Device Only
My electric bike was stolen from my backyard. The thieves jumped my locked gate, went through the side gate then took the bike from a closed storage shed. I had thought about an alarm system but had put it off due to cost. Well, my Ring kit (5-piece) cost a heck of a lot less than my replacement bike - lesson learned. On to my review... I purchased the 5-piece refurbished Ring system. I've always had great luck with Amazon's refurbished electronics. Added was an Outdoor Gate Sensor and an Outdoor Blink Camera (I already have a Blink doorbell). The setup was pretty simple - I just took my time and followed the guides. The look of the components is modern and clean. I incorporated the base unit into one of my gallery walls. The ring changes color so I always know the state of the system and it looks cool. I included the keypad as part of a vignette by my front door. The door sensors are mounted toward the top of each door frame and pretty much blend in. I chose not to install window sensors for now. I have manual window locks because of my A/C system. I've tested the siren (it's in the base unit) and it is super loud - very effective. Arming and disarming the system from the app, Alexa, and the keypad is very simple. All systems are a go LOL! I'll be installing the gate sensor today but have already tested it and it works great. There is a range extender included but it looks like I won't need it. It would be nice if Ring would include a template to wall mount the base unit. The mounting holes on the back are pretty awkward to work with. I used Gorilla Tape to mount it rather than messing with the screw mount. I haven't decided on a subscription plan yet so I'm self-monitoring for now. Yard signs are available separately, which I'll be purchasing as an additional deterrent. ... show more

  • Great Ring products and easy to setup through the app!
Style: Ring Alarm Configuration: Device Only
Me and my wife recently moved into a new house and were scouting for home security systems and setups. We had a small ring doorbell before the house and enjoyed the ease of use through the app and notifications that the ring gave us whenever motion was alerted. We decided to buy this ring kit instead of subscribing to a full security service for the price and performance of our last ring product and were so happy that we did. These products have been amazing for the contact sensors for our doors and alarm system and base station for the overall protection of our house. ... show more

  • Great for the money
Style: Ring Alarm Configuration: Device Only
I've had this for a couple of months now and it works great! Super easy to set up, connects fine to the wifi and even has cellular backup and battery backup incase the power goes out! The only problem i had was that when i first unboxed it the battery had a little short in the connection, I was able to get the panel on the back of the hub open and pushed the battery connector back into place and it has worked fine since. ... show more

  • Glad that I got the Ring alarm.
Style: Ring Alarm Configuration: Device Only
Converted from a wired home alarm to Ring (along with the conversion kit). Admittedly, I hired someone to do the rewiring and installation, but I do like having an internet-enabled alarm now. It was easy to put the sensors where I needed them, and the system is overall easy to use.

  • DIY Home Security
Style: Ring Alarm Configuration: Device Only
I really enjoy this system, as it allows you to start with a smaller system and expand as needed. So far I've been able to use it for an apartment, and when I moved into my new home it could come with me! It was able to be expanded to fit my new house with all sorts of new sensors, integration with my garage door opener, and even smoke alarms. For the annual fee, it is cheaper than ADT by a long shot so I think this is a great value. It also provides cellular backup, so my home is safe even during power outages for days. The Ring app has only added features over the years and I have to say I'm very impressed by the entire package. ... show more

  • Good, but potentially expensive
Style: Ring Alarm Configuration: Device Only
Let me start off by saying I had previously rated the contact sensors themselves two stars because of their price. They work great, but I found $40 for two sensors to be expensive considering you have to buy new ones if you move since you can't really take them with you. HOWEVER....out of curiosity I did some research. A single contact sensor with ADT is $40. On the other hand, a single sensor with SimpliSafe is $15. So Ring is kind of in the middle. I can't speak about performance as far as how far they all work from their base stations and battery life. But Ring's sensors have lasted me quite a while and have performed what I'd consider d3cently as far as wireless range goes. We have one sensor that relies on a Ring range extender to be able to connect to the base station. Now onto other parts. The system is super easy to set up and use overall. Ring does offer professional monitoring for a good bit less than the well-known home security companies do. As of this review, it's $20 a month for professional monitoring. They do offer lower cost options that enable video recording for one or multiple Ring doorbell. There is also the free option as well where you monitor it yourself through the app. So there are options available for almost any price point. So it has that going for it. The Ring app integrates well with the alarm, and you can customize quite a few things as far as the alarm and sensors go. It also pairs well with a Ring doorbell (go figure) and if you have an Amazon Echo device, you can also arm and disarm the system using your voice. Depending on which model of Echo you have, you can also use them to listen for glass breakage sounds as well with Alexa Guard. Overall the Ring alarm system is a great value especially compared to the "big alarm" companies like ADT. ... show more
