As a woman in my mid 50s, I'm inclined to think that half of the "new" makeup products (as in- I never saw this back in the '80s when I was learning to use makeup) are just gimmicks that don't work as promised and are a waste of money. However, I ordered this primer and can't believe what a difference in makes in how my makeup looks and lasts all day. I never want to spend a ton of money when there are great reviews on lower-priced comparatives, so I went with this Rimmel Primer first. I have developed some large-ish pores on my chin that are driving me crazy, and this product absolutely minimizes them to almost zero. A second, and probably even greater benefit, is that my skin is so much less shiny as the day wears on that I never have to use pressed powder. It did take some getting used to and experimentation when applying this- I was seriously slathering it on my face at first but have learned to use it more lightly/sparingly before applying concealor and tinted moisturizer or BB cream to get better results. What an improvement! No more pores to look at or oil slicks to deal with throughout the day. I watch Hot and Flashy's makeup tutorials/product recommendations and I've bought two more primers I plan to experiment with, but I'm glad I started with Rimmel- it is inexpensive and has made me a believer in the benefit of what a great primer can do. I'll never apply any kind of makeup without using a primer first. Obviously everyone's skin is different but I love the result I got from this product and I will definitely buy again.

Never ever has anything worked this well to knock down shine, and that includes actual powder and foundation and mineral products. If I apply nothing, within half an hour of washing my face I start to "glow." In the summer when I typically use a matte sunscreen and 10.0.6 Seriously Shine Free moisturizer, my T-zone might make it for an hour before it starts to shine. With this stuff I can golf or bike in 90 degree weather, sweat up a storm and there's zero shine on my face. Zero. None. In fact I forgot to put it on a few times (it's last in my routine), my face started to glow, I put it on and BAM -- shine gone! What I love about it the most is that I don't have to wear any foundation and still look put together in the heat of summer. It seems thick when you put it on, but once it gets on your skin and warms up it will spread nicely. Great product. I hope they never stop making it because it's a life-changer for me.

After years and years of oily skin, I’ve finally found a product that actually works for me. My skin would turn shiny almost instantly after applying makeup and with this product, I stay shine free all day. And my makeup is still in tact as well. My only complaint is that it makes my foundation clump and look cakey. However, my solution has been using the Elf Poreless Face Primer first. Then I apply the Rimmell Stay Matte Primer. After I finish applying my makeup, I use the Rimmell Stay Matte setting spray. So far, that’s worked great for me.

I ordered this July 10th and have tested and used it and other primer and setter products along with this one to try and find something that would last through 10 hours of working inside a warehouse, heavy sweating all day long. This is the ONLY brand that allows my makeup to last more than two hours, even through me wiping sweat off my face and neck all day long. The primer kind of feels like a dry glue when you’re putting it on, and barely has a scent. It has NOT made my skin break out or my pores clog. The setter has the softest, most pleasant cucumber smell. When I say I’ve used other products, I’ve tested over the last two months about 8 different brands including this one and no other even comes close to this one. If you’re a heavy sweater or have a labor intensive job and still want to be able to wear makeup, buy this one. Over the last five/six weeks I haven’t used another brand or products because these two TOGETHER work amazingly, even over really expensive brands. I did attempt to mix and match and the setter and primer both do not work as well separated, what I mean is if you use this primer with a different setter it might not stay on as well, etc. both the two together are like magic. I just placed another order for delivery the end of this month, by then I should actually need some more, which means I would get a solid 8 weeks out of both products, which using 6/7 days a week both have lasted a long while. So a little goes a long way.

Purchased because of great reviews. Decent primer but doesn’t cover quite as well as others. I’ve used Revlons matte primer for years and wanted to try something new, not super impressed. Don’t buy if you have oily skin! Will make it greasier.

I have oily to dry skin and on my super oily days the primer works amazing. The only complaint I have is that it makes my face super dry and flaky after using it so I can’t use it too many times in a row which is unfortunate because it makes my foundation stick to my face like glue. Ugh! I hate my skin. As for the setting spray…I never use any other. I’ll forever be using it. Forever and ever.
