Very high quality
Hands down best drill press for the money. If you can’t somehow manage to be home to receive a delivery, maybe you shouldn’t be ordering anything online. Grow up. Variable speed without belt change is the real deal, spend a little time researching proper speed for materials drilled and you’ll quickly see that you’ve been doing it wrong forever because it’s a hassle to change your belts on other drill presses, ends up costing you more in drill bits and poor quality results. ... show more

Get this item local if possible
I bought this item based on price and it's features. The single lever adjustable speed is what sold me and that feature works great! The delivery of this item was a nightmare. Rikon will only use specific delivery services and there is no tracking on this item. I had to find out what shipping company they used, call them each week until it came in, and set up the delivery.I also had to do the same thing with the 14" bandsaw that I bought from rikon at the same time. The light on the unit doesn't work but I'm not going to bother getting it fixed because after taking it apart I realized that it's pretty cheaply made. Like I said the drill press itself works great and the speed adjustment feature makes it worth getting this drill press. My advise would be to by from woodcraft or a local dealer if possible so you can avoid the delivery service. ... show more

Variable Speed on a solid drill press unit.
I purchased my drill in Jan 2018 through a local shop (I felt they would be able to handle any shipping issues better). I had to pay tax, but I didn't want a damaged unit from shipping. It arrived in great condition, assembly was easy enough, and the operation this past year has been ideal. The variable speed is a dream, with single lever control (one belt change if lowest < 750? speed needed - see specs). Smooth operation, no appreciable run out issues for my shop purposes. Digital readout clear and helpful. Cast iron stand is heavy and solid. I've had no problems and highly recommend it. ... show more
