Our bed rests on the floor due to the need for my wife to safely get in and out. I found the one safety bar that would work on the platform configuration of the adjustable bed. Also, tubular designed bed rails do not work because of the adjustable bed platform clearance and the side rail and the platform-bottom of the mattress junction sitting 4.5" below the top of the side rail. Thus, the flat support rails that go under the mattress are ideal. The little switch that lowers and raised the bar is easy to use. The bar is sturdy and will keep her from falling out of bed. When I was trying to decide whether or not to buy this, I wanted to know if it would work with an adjustable bed. It does. The two flanges that slip between the mattress and the adjustable bed mechanism, simply bridge the gap that is created by the bed movement. I hope that helps anyone else who is trying to decide about this purchase. I had been having problems with sitting up in my sleep and then sleeping sitting on the side of my bed for extended periods. This was causing problems for my back and edema in my feet. This rail has completely eliminated this problem for me! The rail is smooth and sturdy (although I have only been using for a month) and the mechanism to move it up and down works easily. The only issue that I have had is that when the railing is in the down position it is not level with the top of the mattress. It is somewhat difficult getting out of bed over the railing. I’ve adjusted to it but someone more elderly might have more problems. Also, the rail is smooth and you can lean against it but I recommend having a pillow between the sleeper and the rail. I am very happy with this purchase because it solved the problem that I hoped it would. It is well built and I expect that it will last. ... show more

The assembly instructions are terrible. I found extremely important tips from reading these reviews, otherwise I would have returned it. Once assembled, it isn't bad. I like that there is some choice of height (when assembling). It's a bit challenging to press the switch that lets you fold it down, so keep that in mind for folks with limited dexterity. ... show more

    • Great for our Adjustable Bed!
My mom has an electric adjustment bed and we needed to install a bed rail. Most bed rails I found were NOT safe or recommended for adjustable beds and only their bases only slid between the mattresses with nothing locking them in that can move or loosen if the bed is raised. We looked and looked and THIS bed rail was found by my wife and it's great. It has 2 FLAT pieces that can be screwed into our Adjustable bed base. I actually put Bolts with Locking Nuts instead of the Screws that were provided, using Bolts removed any play between the metal pieces & the adjustable bed base. The rail does move some if you put weight on it(the way the side rail is constructed) but my mom loves it. I gave 5 stars because it was the best and ONLY choice we could find that we thought was safer. ... show more

This is a very solid rail that feels sturdy and durable. Assembly was easy. Installation was a bit tricky for my elderly mother's adjustable frame as it can only be screwed to where the frame does not pivot. This causes the location to be too low toward the foot of bed.
