Features

  • Reawaken a Classic Resident Evil 4 preserves the essence of the original game, now reconstructed using Capcoms proprietary RE Engine to deliver realistic visuals and additional narrative depth to the iconic story that was not possible at the time of the original release.
  • Modernized Gameplay The team from 2019s Resident Evil 2 returns to build upon the series modern approach to survival horror. Engage in frenzied combat with the Ganados villagers, explore a European village gripped by madness, and solve puzzles to access new areas and collect useful items for Leon and Ashleys constant struggle to survive.
  • Overwhelming Hordes Face hordes of rabid enemies that threaten to overwhelm Leon with even more diverse methods of attack than in the original release.
  • Survive on a Knifes Edge Years of intense training have taught Leon new ways to use his knife, helping to even the odds against the unrelenting onslaught of enemies. By parrying enemy attacks, you can avoid debilitating damage and evade lunging enemies seeking to grab Leon and hold him in place. Make smart use of scavenged knives to deliver precise finishing moves on vulnerable enemies, and even use the element of surprise to quietly dispatch unsuspecting foes before they break.
  • Reimagined Story Resident Evil 4 dials up the original releases key feelings of loneliness and the fear of enemies blinded by zealotry, while providing more nuanced depictions of the character motivations and relationships that defined the 2005 survival horror icon.
  • Sophisticated Visuals Built on Capcoms proprietary RE Engine, Resident Evil 4 delivers breathtakingly photorealistic visuals in 4K, complete with stunning lighting and pooling shadows to create an up-close, intense atmosphere.
  • Attache'd at the Hip The iconic attache case returns, and now allows Leon to craft ammunition on top of item and resource management. It also has new customization options beyond expanded storage, including new colors and charms.
  • Good Things on Offer Fan-favorite characters and gameplay systems return with updates to provide more meaningful player choice. The Weapon Merchant will both sell and customize weapons, in addition to offering ways to trade in gems you have collected for various goods.

  • A video game classic with a perfect remake
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard
From someone who's played the original over a 100 times, this remake does this game JUSTICE. From the lackluster remake of RE3, the devs seem to have gotten it right. The game's updated graphics are PHENOMENOL. The game keeps its charm with gameplay that feels identical to the original, and that's not a bad thing! With updated dodge and roll mechanics, this game feels and plays better. The game however is not as long as the original as they have cut a lot of parts out, this game still has replayability. From different outfit unlocks, to different weapon mods, to more fun modes in Mercenaries, this game makes an all time classic feel great. This is how you do a proper remake. My hats off to you CAPCOM. Do yourself a favor and also purchase the Separate Ways DLC. ... show more

  • A masterpiece of a remake
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard
When I first heard about RE4 getting a remake, I was very wary, especially after the way RE3 Remake turned out. RE4 is my favorite installment in the series and I did not want it to go through the same treatment as RE3. However, when I started playing it, I progressively fell in love and absolutely loved every moment of the game. In the end, it exceeded my expectations. The clunky pivot system from the original was gone, and gameplay is better in every aspect. Given the graphical upgrade, everything that scared me in the original was even more dark and creepy in the remake... the ganados... Anyway, after a complete playthrough on the hard-core difficulty. I can confidently say that this is the first game in at least half of a decade that I do NOT regret paying full price for. I haven't even played the mercenaries missions yet and also plan on another playthrough in the near future! ... show more

  • Easily Best Modern Remake of a Classic
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard
I thoroughly enjoyed this remake, despite having played the original several times. I liked that the game was not a shot by shot remake of the first, but almost a remix from someone in love with the original. Many of the boring walking parts were taken out and the path of the story hits the greatest hits but is different enough old time players and new ones can enjoy the layout without being bored. They seem to have taken a page from Dark Souls in redoing the map to be more logically looping and pathing you in more efficient places. Just FYI, the "normal" campaign is still pretty hard. It took me a few chapters to get back into the swing of things but there is a lot of customization and ways to take on the challenges. The horrible garden section is now reduced to something more manageable along with some of the weird cave stuff taken out. Also it's not as creepy since Ashley is a few years older. Lots of fan service here, well worth the money and I hope remakes in the future will take their lead and ship complete amazing games instead of half finished ones you hope will get better if you buy DLC. Capcom is hitting it out of the park these days, good on them. ... show more

One of resident evils classics remade. They kept the story somewhat the same but added a few things, upgraded the graphics a lot. One of my favorite games, came in perfect condition and packaged well.

  • Brilliant remake for this gen
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X Edition: Standard
Does this game come with ballistics? No, but read on to see what it does have. Capcom remade one of its best RE titles into a gorgeously lighted, dynamic and dramatically intense experience, expanding the emotional impact of characters and sets by use of the RE engine. RE4 is mostly faithful to its origin, except that it expands certain locations, like the lake, and adds more challenges. The sequence of events is also changed but not drastically. This is good because I couldn't predict when or where enemies would attack. The stiff motion of the original is replaced by smoother movements, crouching and quicker melee attacks. Leon can move fast to kick or knife enemies, an almost overpowered ability. Graphically amazing, tense and involving, the improvements in facial expressions and textures make it more emotionally rewarding. Some of the original's campy dialogue is now more realistic, with less bravado from Leon. Ashley is also more mature and dressed more modestly (although Ada is now more seductive and curvier than ever). The game's one drawback is that it moves fast on Normal mode for experienced players. The game's normal mode is best for beginners and should probably be started on Professional for experienced players. ... show more
