  • Defective on arrival. Something rattling around inside.
Seems like a solid unit, but a strange scratch on the bottom and something is rattling around inside. If it’s metal that could be dangerous. Returning it, but I will order another. Box was in good condition, unit did NOT appear used, except that scratch.

  • Not the greatest for RV applications
IMO this unit has a significant design flaw in regards to its transfer switching logic in an RV application. It requires that the inverter be turned ON to pass shore power to the RV. When in shore power mode the units excessivly loud cooling fans turn on for aprox 1 min every hour. Not sure why they turn on because my laser thermometer shows only a 3 deg temp difference between the unit being ON or OFF (in shore power mode) These fans can and will wake you up once an hour all night long. The only way to stop the fans is to turn the inverter off. If you turn the unit off you lose shore power. IMO You would be much better off buying the standard non-switching Renogy 2000w inverter and connecting it to your RV using a stand alone transfer switch i.e. a HCDC HD060 (for 15A or less loads) or a 2P 63A Blue from Amazon. BTW the inverters power DC to AC conversion function and remote has performed as advertised, it’s the designs switching logic and fan noise that makes this unit a 1 star rating. ... show more

  • Torn to give it 3 star or 5 star...
I feel like this is intended for Lighter RV use but that I knew. I got 2000W version, probably a bit small for for most RV users but really only running Starlink Internet and a few extras here or there but pretty much 24/7 StarLink and why I wanted it to have the ATS for grid power. My LifePo4 12.8V Battery runs this great for my needs. Now I can add Solar when I get to it and the second battery as my single 100ah battery would limit it to 1200W. Always good to have the ability to add more. I had trouble getting a braided/stranded wire inserted into the ATS and had to use a Ferule since this ATS only has slide in spring pressure connector points you have to force the wire into. And No release it seemed if i need to change the cables later? I called support having trouble inserting the wires but they confirmed it should just press in, no release of pressure, and they just recommended I return to Amazon. Not much assistance. I did not, as I just used a Ferule to stiffen wire since my wiring was not solid home wire. But back to this ATS... Even with it connected to grid power it draws about 2 percent per day running the fans here and there from the battery. All this still 5 star But the ATS has no included cord. So I cut the cord from my old 1500VA UPS that had failed. This is why I had a stranded cord but assume one should use stranded in an RV anyways. Just glad to have the AC plug there. Too bad one is not included that can go there, as mine if pulled hard enough can come out. I used the cord holder to make sure this does not happen but I am not a fan of the connections for the ATS. It would be nice to have it either way, one might not have the outlet already there like I do to plug into and be connecting to fuse or breaker to connect to and this seems more like what they expect. between the Ferule and issue connecting it to grid power in my application I rate it a 3 star. It could be better if it just had better ATS connectors. Why use slide in connectors for 2000W? These connectors are the same if you run line out rather than use the 2 provided outlets on the unit. Hence I am using the outlets. With the tiny contact point they probably cause heat. I definitely think Renogy should change these connectors. ... show more

  • Easy install, no transfer switch pass through when off.
Compact design, comes complete with remote and hardware. Clean automatic transfer to battery power and back to mains power. Unfortunately the output 120v is disconnected from the input 120v when the system is off, so for our RV I have to leave it on all the time. It consumes 20-30 watts and runs it's fan periodically which is not a big problem, just wish I had the option to turn it off and have the 120v pass through like my old system. ... show more

  • Not very useful
I bought this because of ratings and external "best of ..." type research. But now I see some issues that make it unusable for me. -Unit must be "on" AND connected to a battery for transfer function to work. If either is missing - no go! -Unit while "off" draws 0.5 Amps, which will kill my 100 Ahr battery in about 8 days doing nothing. -Unit while "on" and with shore power uses 0.8 Amps. If I want to use this setup as a power backup system, the battery will be dead by just being in stand-by mode after less than a week. -Unit while "on" with no shore power, draws 2.3 Amps. All three of these scenarios make it NOT a good backup system. ... show more

  • Transfer switch implementation is not great
Purchased direct from Renogy. I would only recommend this inverter if you will be using solid copper wire and have plenty of room to work around the unit. The AC hardwiring side for the transfer switch is based on push-to-connect connectors that do not work with stranded wire (as is standard on boats.) The connectors work fine with solid wire/household type Romex. These types of connectors are really only meant to be used once, so keep that in mind for your installation. Because of the way the DC and AC side connect, you need much more room around the unit than similar units from other brands. The dimensions listed are only half the story. Finally, unlike other units, the 12v side must be connected and the unit must be turned on for the transfer switch to hold the AC side active. This means there's significant draw on the house battery when on shore power. So, you'll want a charger running at the same time. The app doesn't really do much. It would be nice if there was a current cutoff or combine feature like the competition. Overall I think it makes a lot more sense to have a separate transfer switch that isn't dependent on the house battery. The inverter itself works fine, it seems like a good value, and I like that the an extremely basic remote was included. However, you're paying extra for a feature that isn't implemented as well as it should be. ... show more
