This drum arrived really quickly and sounds amazing! The only reason for 4.5 stars is it came with what looks like a sharpie marking on the skin of the drum…I’m not sure what happened and assume someone accidentally drew on it while packaging the drum. If it didn’t have a funky sharpie marking on it I would definitely give it a 5 star rating!! Pictured is the sharpie drawing on the drum. I am a sound healer and currently have an elk skin drum that I use for sessions, but the quality of sound changes so drastically depending on humidity levels that it wasn’t reliable for a nice ringing rich tone. This one sounds similar but will not change due to temperature and humidity! I’m super excited to try it out in sessions and sound baths! *edit* I contacted the seller directly and they instructed me to exchange the drum and said that was very unexpected and should not have been sent to me in that condition. They were super helpful and I will be sending the drum back and getting a new one! Edit again: I got the new one really quickly and sent out the one that had sharpie on it! The new one sounds great and is in perfect condition! Back to 5 stars! ... show more

I ordered a drum that had been previously returned. At half the price, I was willing to take the risk. It arrived in perfect condition, in original packaging. No defects to drum, packaging was a little worse for wear, but who cares? Nice, deep sound. Light enough to hold for extended periods. Attractive, except for the very prominent logo on both the drum head and beater. I painted the beater black with acrylics. I've been using a Mr. Clean magic eraser on the drumhead logo with good effect. The logo is 80% erased after 25 minutes of scrubbing, another 20 minutes and I'm sure it will be gone completely. :) No damage at all to head. Very pleased with purchase. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The Remo Buffalo Drum is a great instrument for shamanic drumming and drumming circles. The speciality about this drum is that it is vegan - it is made of a synthetic material called Fiberskyn. This drum holds its tune even in humid weather conditions - a big plus when drumming outdoors in humid weather or light drizzle. So when my skin drums loose all tone, the Remo still sounds great. Also you can fly with this drum and it will not be a problem with biosecurity of countries like New Zealand, Australia or Hawaii that have strong restrictions with animal products like skins. That is what got me into Remo the first place - being able to air travel with my drum. I chose the 16 inch version because it has a nice strong bass and still is lightweight and easy to handle. 22 inch would be too big and 14 inch has a lot less bass, so 16 inch it is. I also paint these drums: I use acrylic paint + acrylic markers for that and then a acrylic varnish spray to protect the designs and make the drums playable. The secret is not to apply too much paint as that can dampen the sound. I have created many drums like this and they look and sound great! ... show more

By sound this could be rated well above 5 stars but there’s an almost puncture blemish on the head itself. It corresponds with a torn package. I want to keep it because it sounds incredibly deep but feel like with heavy playing the blemish may worsen. All in all seems like a solid product but in the Mail is a wild card. ... show more
