He enjoys playing mine, but it is a bit too large for him, and given that he has a tendency to hit it rather hard, I was afraid he might tear the animal skin. This is great value for the money. The synthetic head offers a solid, fairly loud, ringing tone when struck. I first used it outdoors with a drum group on a 45-degree (F) evening, and it held its own. Other drummers who gave it a go liked it. The drum cannot be tuned. Mine arrived with an approximate C# pitch, which might be a factor only if you are insistent that all your drums are tuned to each other (for whatever reason). ... show more

The drum has a really full sound. It is easy to hold but I wish it had a handle on it. I’m probably going to add some sort of handle because when I’m holding the word it does change the sound slightly. I looked at the videos on the website of the manufacture. The drum is top quality, no doubt about it. The tone is so beautifully clear. I am absolutely in love with this drum. The only thing I would say is that people with small hands like mine should be aware that the frame is really wider - wider than I would have imagined - and it unfortunately does not have a cut-out to make holding it easier. My 10" drum arrived quickly and in excellent condition. It produces a huge sound for such a little drum and it almost makes a sound by just being touched. My only complaint is that there isn't a thumb hole or any holes around the edge to insert a string for holding the drum. That probably isn't a feature of the 10" drum but the description says it is. Sellers should pay more attention to the text in their sales pages. Still, a good little drum at a price you can't beat (ha ha, beat it, get it?) ... show more
