As usual, I didn’t read the instructions and we left the unit in a mode where one software feature was fighting with another to s=control the sleep number setting.     • Fast Replacement for Failed Sleep Number Pump
The pump for our 10 year old Sleep Number bed no longer held air for one side. It was still under warranty, but even with the warranty discount, a replacement would be over $600. First, call SN and get a quote for a new pump. Granted, our bed was a few years old, but we had an electrical issue (in our new home) and the pump was fried.     • Perfect replacement for an old Select Comfort bed
Our select comfort bed is over 20 years old, and the original pump started to fail. It could not maintain pressure on one side, and it was barely putting out any air. This REM pump is the perfect replacement. It's smaller, quieter, and works much faster. Installation required cutting the original hoses off the old pump, and installing new (provided) fittings on the hoses. After that, it was plug and play. The remote does work a little differently than the old Select Comfort remote. You don't set a target number, and then wait for the pump to reach it. Instead you tell it to go higher, or lower, and it dynamically shows you the current setting, so you can stop it whenever it feels right. You can store this setting in memory, and recall it with the Memory button on the remote. It will also attempt to maintain your set number as the pressure changes, even in the middle of the night. When the pump is active in this mode, it is nearly silent, and slowly adjusts the pressure. ... show more

we have a 20 yr old original sleep number bed and this was a direct replacement for the air pump. install was 5 minutes and easy as pie! really pleased with it. remote does work a bit differrent but has favorite settings so happy with that. highly recommend this!

    • Easy to Install; Not Perfect but Very Good
Bought this product after our Sleep Number pump failed and the replacement from Sleep Number was backordered and delayed. Found this on Amazon. It replaces the pump and was easy to install. I read reviews that mentioned that the pump automatically goes on to maintain the pressure in the mattress air chambers. This has happened with ours. It is a very light buzzing, but perceptible nonetheless. Would have rated 5 stars without this feature/glitch. Note, it can be turned off, but I haven't tried that yet. ... show more

    • Worked perfectly and cost less than half what Sleep Number would have charged me!
After suffering from an increasingly saggy Sleep Number mattress for several months, I was prepared to finally break down and buy a new pump. I bought my Sleep Number bed 15 years ago, so I still had 5 years left on my warranty. The Sleep Number agent never even flinched when she told me the pump (just the pump!) cost $1,100 and, even with my warranty, my cost would still be $391. Since I wasn't entirely sure the pump was the issue, because the agent told me the problem might also be that my air mattresses might be too old and starting to leak, I was about ready to just buy a new regular mattress and get rid of my Sleep Number bed, but I decided to go "pump shopping" before I gave up. I have never bought an air mattress pump before (other than the original one that came with my Sleep Number bed). I didn't even know other companies sold them or if they would work well or work at all with my bed. This pump was half the price the replacement one would have cost me from Sleep Number, so I gave it a shot. It arrived incredibly fast, and I hooked it up the same day. It only took about 15 minutes--and most of that time was spent cutting the thick hoses off of the original pump to reattach to this new one. Other than that, the process was very fast and simple, and everything fit and worked perfectly. It took a few days to get used to the remote--it just goes up and down without letting you set it to a specific number like you do with a Sleep Number remote, but now I'm used to it. I did wait a few weeks before writing this review to make sure the pump worked, that it easily let me adjust the numbers, that the mattress stayed inflated, that it didn't make any loud noises, etc. I have had zero issues, the pump works AMAZINGLY WELL, my mattress stays inflated at the right number, and it cost me half as much as what Sleep Number would have charged me as a "valued customer". It's about as loud as the original pump, but that doesn't bother me because I only hear it when I'm changing the number, which I rarely ever do. In summary, this pump is terrific! It saved my bed, saved my wallet, and saved my aching back. My only regret is that I didn't research and find out about this option and buy it months sooner. ... show more
