  • Thoughtfully designed
Amazing book! My 6 year old daughter has been really struggling with learning to tie her shoes - and she was getting so frustrated and ready to give up completely and just wear velcro shoes the rest of her life. .. when I saw this book I thought maybe it could help and that it's a very simple way of teaching them step by step. I had no idea that the second day of having the book, and the first day of her actually sitting down with it--- she has tied it twice!!!!!!!! She's so proud of herself and very much encouraged to keep trying and that she can do it - it just takes practice! Even if you don't use the way the book shows to teach them to tie ( making two loops and tying them together ), the different colored laces help considerably with any way you show them! I would very much recommend picking one up! Absolutely exceeded all of our expectations! Thoughtfully designed, well made, great book! ... show more

  • Good book. Bunny ears method is easier for little hands.
I gave the product a four out of five because overall I thought it was a good product. Most of the negative reviews I had seen mentioned that it used the bunny ears method. I don't really see that as a flaw in the product. Yes, it is different than the way I learned. However 1. The bunny ears method is easier so, so it might be easier for a younger child to grasp and easier for a child with say a five year old's manual dexterity. 2. What does it matter whether a kid uses the bunny ears or swoop around method if they're getting their shoe tied? My only criticism is that the book us a little bit wordy. When you get right down to it, the bunny ears method of tying your shoe consists of four steps, maybe five. But the rhyme contained a lot of superfluous words. Some of the steps that could have been explained in one page are spread out over two or three. I think the rhyme and the book overall would be a little more effective if a lot of the extra stuff was cut out and it was just a four page rhyme of the steps of tying a shoe. If it were a three or four sentence rhyme the kids could easily remember, as opposed to ten pages, it would be better. That said, I got it for my five year old. I thought it was neat that it had a shoe to practice on built inyo the book. He is only reading simple words so I knew I would have to read it to him. Plus a kid couldn't turn the pages AND do the steps themselves. I tried for about three months to teach/explain/demonstrate it to him (swoop around method) with zero success. We have had this book about a week and used it diligently for about three days and he is able to successfully tie his shoe. Thanks to the bunny ears method and this book! ... show more

  • 'Bunny Ears' Worked For My Nephew
I give this book five stars because it worked. This book teaches the TWO LOOPS (or BUNNY EARS) style of tying shoe laces. I was actually looking for the other style of tying a bow with only One Loop (because it makes a better tie). In the end, all I really wanted was a good book that would easily walk a child through the tying process. This book worked for my situation. My nephew was resistant to learning how to tie his shoe. It seemed complicated to him so he would give up immediately. Finally he would not attempt it anymore..He needed help so I bought this book with words and pictures. He can read so he would read along with me. And he smiled as he read the words! He was showing off. The words and pictures really helped. We practiced together when no one else was around. Eventually, we stopped reading the words and just focused on the pictures and tying. He struggled with the last part but finally it made sense so that he could do it without me explaining the end part every time. Now he is so happy and proud that he can tie his shoe laces. I hope this review is helpful to others. ... show more

  • Wasn't what i was expecting
I bought this to teach my son how to tie his shoes. Was a little disappointed that I couldn't see the book before buying, but was excited to get it to show him, based on the reviews. I was extremely disappointed that it didn't mention the method used. If anyone is not interested in teaching your child "bunny ears", this is not the book for you. For an active child, that method may be "easier" to teach but not sturdy enough to prevent constant untying and retying. I had to return it because it wouldn't be of any use to us. ... show more

  • Tying accomplished!
This is a great book with cute rhyming instructions. I got this for my 5 year old granddaughter after buying her a pair of laced tennis shoes. While her mom read the book to her for the first time she tied her shoe without any help! She loved the rhyming instructions! Now her 4 year old sister wants to learn too! ... show more
