Some sharp edges. Needs better welds. Needs rubber stoppers on the pontoon pegs. However, I just installed this on our pontoon today and it's just about perfect as far as gunwall fit on a loading door. It does support my 220 pound weight out of water, so it should have no problem with buoyant weight in the water. I also attached a rope lanyard to prevent it sinking if it comes off the deck since it doesn't float. I don't recommend injecting foam because foam can trap water and accelerate corrosion. We will get some 1" square rubber stoppers for the pontoon pegs to prevent future punctures or damage to the pontoons. The sharp edges are easily removed with a dremel or fine metal file. Over all we are pleased and hope we get as much useful life from the ladder as we have the boat. ... show more

    • Sharp edge on corner where if folds cut my grandson.
The ladder is sturdy and works great, except for the sharp corners where the handle folds. I will file it and find away to cover the corner so others don't cut themselves.

    • Great ladder - be sure to use foam sealant to make it FLOAT!
We ordered this ladder "twice" and I would have given this pontoon ladder a "5" if our first one hadn't sunk to the bottom of the lake!! You "must" make sure it is secured while just sitting on the lake and taken out before you start moving. ** We ordered another one but, this time we used window and door crack sealer foam. We put it in the handles, the holes of the first two ladder rungs and the sides of this section. The lower part that hinges up and is in the water was left as is so it will fill with water and stay down when in use. After using the foam sealant we made sure it "Floats" before we used it again. IT FLOATS!! So, no more worry about losing another ladder to the lake. ... show more

Good overall ladder for the money. Reasonably sturdy, very easy installation, would be nice if it had some sort of floatation since you are installing over water. A second set of loops would be helpful, but I think I can find some at a hardware store.

Dropped my factory-original ladder at the bottom of the lake. Installed two different replacement ladders and hated them both. They disconnected easily and didn't have the grab handles at the top making it very difficult to scale a tritoon that rides high. This ladder is very lightweight (all aluminum), folds up to reasonable size for storage (though not the smallest I tried), can't accidently disconnect while in use as you physically need to lift the ladder completely into the air to unhook it, and has built in grab handles on the top making boarding so much easier.     • Spray foam + this ladder!
I used spray foam in the upper portions of the ladder so that it would float if it fell off the boat. (Pop off the plastic end caps, spray expanding foam slowly, wipe excess, knock caps back on.) The ladder is sturdy and easy to ease use.
