You heard me, this is my first type owning a real techniques makeup brush! Where have I been all this time? I've been into makeup for 5 years now and never owned a real techniques set when they are amazing and super affordable. Granted, it's because when I started off doing makeup, I was really young and my older sisters would lend me their old brushes from Sephora. It could be because they were old, or that Sephora brushes are just overrated, but Real Techniques definitely beats them all! I bought this set myself, along with some more RT complexion brushes at Tj Maxx, after my old brushes weren't dried properly and had a moldy smell to them. I sadly had to throw them away because my frugal self didn't want to spend money on makeup brushes, even tho they're a necessity. I knew from the start that I wanted Real Techniques because of the amazing things I've heard about them. And I'm so glad I bought this set! It worth every dollar, amplifies my makeup, and blends everything seamlessly. From now on, I'm only going to be buying RT. I've been using it for three months already and no bristles have fallen out and there have been no flaws. I love this set! I'm a beginner at makeup, so it took me a while to learn how to use each brush. Originally, I was supposed to swing for the RT Artist Essentials set (the one with the fan brush), but I'm really glad I got this instead. I don't follow the brush guide, so here's how I use the set for reference: I use sheer-coverage foundations and skin tints. I use my hands to blend them in, then buff it out with the Complexion Sponge (the wider side). When I apply concealer afterward, I tap it in with my fingers, then use the pointy side of the sponge to blend it out for a more natural finish. I prefer cream blushes over powder ones, so instead of using the Blush Brush, I'd dab cream blush on my cheeks with my fingers, then stipple it out with the Foundation Brush. It diffuses the blush and makes me look like I have a soft, natural glow. I don't use the Blush Brush for this purpose because it's more for powders than creams. I use the Blush Brush for powder bronzer, and the Deluxe Crease Brush to contour my nose. I haven't found a use for the actual setting brush yet, so I think I'll give it away. I don't use powder highlight; but if you do, I think this may work for that purpose? Again, I'm just a beginner, so I'm not really sure. Overall, it's definitely worth the purchase. The handles are heavier and more durable than I expected them to be, and the bristles are super soft and easy to clean. I've washed the set three times without any issues. The sponge came with a nick on it, but it doesn't affect the use so I don't really mind. I feel like I got my money's worth. Note: beauty sponge unpictured. ... show more
