  • Works better than others
A little bulky compared to other sight tools. But the size makes the work easier for you. Better than other sight tools with more options and capabilities. Avid is always a little expensive but definitely worth the money when you use it. Value is worth it when you save your strength and aggravation

  • This thing works really well.
I added a red dot to my Springfield Hellcat, so I needed to replace the front and rear iron sights to allow co-witnessing with the red dot. I tried using a nylon punch, which was an almost immediate fail. The punch just started to disintegrate. Then I tried using a steel punch, but the sights didn't move at all. I decided to purchase this sight pusher because I felt the less expensive ones just wouldn't do the job and/or have a greater potential to damage the slide. I first tried using the standard configuration with the nylon holders and turned the handle by hand, but that didn't work. Then I got a torque wrench and set it to 156 in lbs (the max recommended) and started to use that to push the slide out. No joy. The slide started to angle away from the direction of the force being applied rather than the sight moving in the dovetail. So, I swapped out the nylon holders for the steel ones (putting the protective pads on the mating surface) and gave it another try - first just by hand, and then using the torque wrench. Still no good. But then I tried something that was recommended in the instructions. After loading up the sight with some pressure I got a hammer and gave the handle a good whack. That did the trick and the sight broke loose. The vertical knob adjustments are a bit awkward, as they are in pretty close proximity to the body of the pusher. And I found aligning the block accurately to the sight dovetails to be a bit tricky. I've seen some other sights that have a sighting hole that allows you to look perpendicular to the slide to align the block to the dovetails. That seems like it would be a nice feature to have. And even with the steel holders the torque would push the slide at an angle a bit. It would be nice if there was some way to lock the slide down solidly. But it worked well enough, and I don't doubt that any difficult to remove sights will require the steel holders. I debated a lot about just bringing my gun to a gunsmith rather than purchasing a pusher. It seemed the going rate was $60 including bore sighting, plus time and gas for multiple trips. So, I'll call it $70 - about half the price of this tool. And then, if I found adjustments were necessary it was just more hassle. I figured the cost was close enough to a gunsmith to justify an additional $80 just to have a tool for the future. ... show more

  • Perfect
Removing the front sight on a P320 M18 is a pain in the ass. I tried other pushers, but none of them worked. I also tried using a hammer and punch and almost destroyed the sight. Then I found a post on Sig Talk from someone who had the same issue as me. He recommended this pusher. Alright, I figured I’d give it a try—guess what? It works phenomenally! This thing just works. Solid, easy to use, and it did exactly what it was supposed to do without any drama. ... show more

Great sight pusher! But it’s not perfect. The adjustment knobs for the upper section that raises & lowers the pusher itself a PITA to use. The carry handle is in the way. As seen in the photos I added to my review. If they were taller than the carry handle or better yet, had a re-enforced 1/4” ratchet slot or a screwdriver slot on the top, that would have been way better. Same for the two knobs that control the slide clamps on the handle side. Also as see in the included photos in my review. They’re also hard to get at and use without picking the entire unit up on that side, with the pusher handle right there. Other than those two gripes. This thing is great! Highly recommend. And at that price, yes, I would buy it again if I had to! ... show more

  • Geat tool!!!
First things first. If you are having slide tilt issues with the tool that is normal for pretty much every tool like this. It will get better depending on your experience and the way the sights are mounted. Some sights are pressed in and have loctite in them. They are hard to do regardless of the tool. Next up take your oil and oil the crap out of the threads. They stick and are hard to turn if you don't. Have patience, take your time, and make sure it's well lubed. I noticed one issue in the regard. Out of the box there was debris stuck to the main threaded area. Dust or whatever it was. I used oil and a cleaning pad to remove it. Great quality overall but one of the feet was missing on mine and found inside and I restuck it on. That really could use a redesign as they seem to pop off too easy. It does what it is supposed to do and does it very well. If you have a really stubborn one and having an issue using this I would highly recommend a gunsmith instead. ... show more

  • No No No Just No.
Everything about this sight pusher reads as it’s a top of the line high quality unit. It’s not. I needed to swap out a rear P320 sight and this press destroyed it. So here we go. The slide will start to twist no matter how tight you clamp it down. I even tried the metal jaws in it with the provided protection pads and nada. As soon as you put minimal tension on the “torque knob” things start getting wonky. You could actually see the press block move as everything is clamped in correctly according to their directions. As per the gun owners curiosity as well as mine, we pushed the sight off in the most unnatural way possible. The front with the press block flipped was even worse. I had to tell a customer that there’s no way in hell I would use this on his new trijicon sights and he would have to wait for the Sig shoe to arrive for our regular press. This was delivered today and a return was made less than a hour later. Highly NOT recommended. My shop typically does about 40-60 sight swaps a week and this as a secondary permanent shop tool was a bad idea. We will gladly pay the premium for a quality tool. Figure this. You buy sights from us, we don’t charge you to swap them. You bring in your own sights from wherever you bought them and it’s 10 bucks for a Glock and 20 bucks for everything else. Is this really worth it? Hard pass. ... show more

  • Just Get This One!
After trying one of the less expensive, highly rated sight pushers, I returned it because it wasn't made well and ended up scratching my gun. I took a chance on this one and I love it. I have used it for three different firearms, including the S&W Bodyguard 2.0. It has worked perfectly each time. The BG 2.0 did stretch the pusher to it's absolute lowest setting, but it did the job effectively with no damage to the sights or slide. Be sure to follow the instructions closely, including lubricating it before each use. It's easy to get the leverage needed to push stubborn sights. This is the one! ... show more

  • Very limited use and NOT universal as the Mfg. site states.
When you get this it looks and feels like it is worth the money. But then looking closer at the side pushers you can tell that it is for only a select few/styles of slides. If it is not a Glock or a 1911 or very similar very flat sided slide then it is not going to hold in place. Nowhere on their website or the description did it indicate this and advertised as Universal...it is not. Read other reviews online. If you slide has any angle to it (vertical plane) then it will rock/twist. I didn't even take it out of the box when I could clearly see inside the way it is packed...and I cannot imagine how you can even alight the slide (horizontal axis) because there is so much girth and metal in the way...it looks solid for sure, but that solid has to get in the way too. My 365 slide would be all but invisible underneath and my Arex (Glock clone) has a different kind of slide shape so it'd never sit still. I had high hopes but it is not worth finding out I purchased a door stop so it is going back unused. ... show more
