    • Great starting kit for beginners
To make it clear, this is my first gun cleaning kit and I am a recent gun owner, so I have next to nothing of experience in gun maintenance short of what I have learned on youtube. That said, this kit was great in that it brought some (admittedly vague at times) instructions on the process of how to use each tool and also had them arranged by caliber which is a big plus given my lack of recognition to the differences asides from the obvious ones and the wrong brush could really mess things up. That said, the loops were much better than the jags, which I couldn't get the patches to actually be pierced by the point, though they felt a bit fragile given they were thin and plastic. Other than that detail, in my last few uses I haven't had any problems and the case feels sturdy. So I'd definitely recommend it as a starting kit at the very least. ... show more

This cleaning kit is the best one I have ever purchased for the price. Can be used on most rifles, pistols and shotguns. Exactly as advertised. Plastic case is very sturdy and can be folded to make case stand and makes tools very accessible. Had a minor shipping problem and one piece was broken. Called Real Avid and they replaced the part, no questions asked. Would have been nice if there had been room for oil and bore cleaner but then the case wouldn't have been so compact. I am a fan of the Real Avid products and was looking for a new cleaning rod with a couple caliber cleaning tools I didn't have made this kit look ideal. The cleaning rod is sturdy with a swivel handle and feels great, so pleased with that. Case is nice and keeps things organized and readily available when getting ready to clean your firearms. The disappointing part and one I didn't expect from Real Avid was the flimsy patch accessories. They are made from plastic and don't feel like they will hold up to much use without breaking. Would have given this 5 stars if those patch holders were made from brass. Otherwise its an average kit ... show more

After approximately two dozen cleanings, I am happy with this set. I have yet to use the handgun cleaning accessories included in this kit, but the shotgun accessories have been outstanding for me. The brass brushes, patches, and mops have all stood up to standard cleanings with your basic Hoppe's No. 9 solvent and oils. The included handle for the brass rods is a nice touch as you can really get a firm grip while cleaning the bore. I absolutely cannot state how great the storage case is as it is so nice to have a compact kit with everything all in one place. I hang mine from my work bench for easy access and never have to worry about forgetting a cleaning component. My only consideration I have for this kit would be to perhaps buy aftermarket brass loops to replace the plastic ones if you're rougher with your cleanings. Thus far I haven't had any issues with the included ones, however. All in all if you're looking for a decently priced and well put together kit for the field or your home, I'd highly consider this one. ... show more

The kit is compact and each of the items are of quality. I like that it’s a much more secure way of storing each of the gun cleaning tools so they are always at hand and not rolling around in an ammo can. My only complaint is that one of the latches were broken. I’ll try a bit of gorilla glue to fix it. If I’m not successful, I’ll work that out with the seller. ... show more
