I had a VHS/DVD Combo and since I had bought a new tv not long ago, I was not able to view some of the old vhs tapes that I was able to on my previous tv. This made that possible by creating a audio video Red, Yellow & White connector to be converted to an HDMI connector. While I don't really watch them often, I still occasionally do when there is absolutely nothing good on tv. Very easy to use. However, I only gave this a 4 star rating because the HDMI cable supplied is very short and would not reach from my vcr to my tv. Thankfully I already had a 50 ft cable from my previous house so I used that instead. If you do not already have a long HDMI cable, you may want to purchase that as well if you need it.

I got this for an old SD VCR which has a web interface that handles most of its functionality, including a web page that shows a snapshot of its screen. But that is cumbersome. Its actual recordings are downloaded to a hard drive in mpg format for viewing. I have this hooked up to my computer monitor for when I have to see the VCR's screen for setting up various functions. It could be needed a couple of times a month or several times a week. My main complaint is I can't set the aspect ratio to 4:3 (SD) so the screen is stretched out. This isn't really a problem since I don't use it to watch the TV shows directly. Maybe that should be a monitor setting? It stopped working for a few months and would only display a black box with "Out Of Range" in it. I kept resetting the cables, and unplugging it, to no avail. Then I saw the HDMI cable wasn't completely plugged into the monitor. I pushed it all the way in and it started working again.

If you're a retro gamer, then a product like this is for you! I purchased this particular model because it has an HDMI out instead of just a basic converter straight into your TV so that I could run my HDMI through my elgato for streaming. Definitely worth the purchase if that is something that fits your needs as well. Pictured here is the Device hooked into my PS1 to display Tales of Destiny (1993) which is as old as I am!

I needed to connect my record player to my Sony Sound Bar which did not have RCA inputs, only HDMI. Was not sure how well this would work but it's very good. Actually, overall this could do for some noise reduction in the path given its a record player but this unit is definitely working as expected.

I've had converters like this before that just didn't work at all for me. The picture would either be black and white or the sound would be either messed up or missing all together. Not with this one. It works perfectly. Not much else to say.

This took me a bit to connect to my newer smart tv. I bought this because the newer model smart tvs don’t have the option to plug in my N64. I got this overnight. The box comes with instructions and a diagram how the product should look like with everything it comes, the adapter, the HDMI cord, and USB cord. You WILL need all 3 in order to work. (I didn’t read instructions cuz it seemed simple) But yes, read it, and the reviews. The HD/1080p mode doesn’t make a difference with quality, considering this game system is retro lol but the product does in fact work. My experience was a little tedious because my N64 wouldn’t turn on at first, so with the adapter it was unclear if it was my N64 or the adapter. Trial and error moment! Ps. You can also use your USB cord by plugging into the tv and into a outlet/ext cord.
