  • Durable. Age to buy depends on individual

We've had this kart for 2 years now. It is still running great. I got it for my then 9year old boy. Awesome Christmas surprise! He is 11 now and still enjoys it and uses it although at this point he wishes it were faster. No worries, however, little brother at 6 years old loves it and it is plenty fast for him. He is young and I have to remind him not to show off or get crazy with his driving. So far so good. This is where parent discretion is advised. We have lots of boys in the neighborhood, a neighbor (8yrs old) who had ridden the cart a few times before suddenly crashed straight into the curb at top speed. I was there watching and he wasnt "driving crazy" or anything.. he bent the front wheel bar (husband fixed) and the boy got some scratches. He hasn't wanted to ride it again-I'm ok with that. While not super fast, it is fast enough for trouble, low profile enough to drive under parked trucks and smash heads ( hasn't happened here but I saw the potential). Also the low profile and muted colored flag makes it hard to be seen by cars. Driver error can happen no matter what the age of the kid. If your kid is crash prone or a distracted type, or a stunt show-off, injuries are going to happen. If your kid is a high powered driver of all things motorized with some sense of self preservation- this kart is perfect for ages 5-9. After that your tween will want something faster. NOTE: The kart does not drive at all on grass and is uncomfortable over large cracks or uneven ledges in sidewalks. It does not climb inclined slopes either. Storage below freezing= dead battery. But we still love and recommend it. Fun on smooth paths and cul de sac play. Easy to drive. I'm 5'3" 125lbs and I can drive it- although it's slower with me on it. ... show more

  • Good stuff

I just picked this up for my 8 year old boy (his birthday). It was a major hit - solid, fast and fun. This go-kart is an 8 year olds dream come true. The only thing you really need to know is that it is low to the ground and needs to be on asphalt. I wouldn't even consider buying this if you don't live on a dead end street, a cul-de-sac or very near a park, because it is hard for cars to see. Adult supervision is a requirement if there's any chance of a car coming becuase you child will be having too much fun to pay attention to traffic. Aside from that, the Kart is worth the price - easy to put together (took 3 minutes), much faster than the electric scooter (stand up variety) that my boy already had - it definately goes 12-15 mph. It's also very solid. If traffic is not a problem, buy this. Your child will love it (and you'll be jealous that these didn't exist when you were a kid). ****UPDATE***** - my boy is now 10 and still loves this thing - we had to replace the batteries for $70, but who cares, the go-kart is still the best toy in the neighborhood - AND we got two years and about a million miles out of the last batteries. Dad's - buy this thing, I'm telling you..... ... show more

  • The envy of the street on Christmas Day!
Color: Silver Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Got this go kart for my 8 year old son for Christmas this year. I was skeptical after reading so many different reviews both positive and negative. I decided to take a chance and buy it and boy am I glad i did. My son is pretty big for his age going 5 feet tall and 85lbs so I was concerned about him fitting and being able to ride it. He fits good and has no issues operating this kart at all. It's fast enough to please the kid and yet not so fast I have a coronary when he rides it. A few pointers on the assembly, the instructions are vague at best. You need to have a little mechanical ability to figure out which of the bolts go where because the instructions don't tell you. Overall the assembly was easy to figure out in spite of the instruction manual. The battery!!! My kart came with what read to be a full charge when I turned on the kart. Do not believe it, in the manual it says to charge the battery for the first time for 12 hours regardless of the reading out of the box so thats what I did. Had the cart fully charged and ready to go Xmas day. It has an excellent run time and lasted for well over the 45 minutes it claimed. When my son hit the roads Xmas day all the other kids where in awe of the kart and already asking their parents for one. I am very pleased with the product and would recommend it to anyone. ... show more

  • Cherry Razor Ground Force Electric Go-kart
I bought this item for my daughter (8) for Christmas. She was ecstatic when she woke up to see Santa brought her her go-kart. Poor kid couldn't ride it Christmas day though due to rain. I read a lot of reviews before I decided to purchase the go-kart, some were good, some not so good. We are satisfied with it right now. She hasn't been able to ride a lot due to weather and sports but the few times she has been on it have been great. I do not like that it will not ride in the grass, I was hoping she would be able to being as how she only weighs 63lbs but no such luck. I think if it had better tires with tread it would probably work great in the grass. I took my son and daughter for a long walk around our neighborhood which usually takes us over an hour to walk, the battery worked great and held a charge for a good two hours at least. Her favorite thing to do is to ride in circles in the parking lot as it tickles her belly, she can get a pretty good speed going and do spin outs. I don't like the turning radius. My son (7) has a lot of trouble in tight spaces and turning around. I'm sure with a little more practice they will both be experts. Definitely worth the $200 I spent. ... show more

It was too cold for my son to ride this after Christmas, so we finally took it out and he hit a rock in the road and the car had been having issues because the wires have an issue! Like it shorted
