  • Use alternative software
This product works great and yes, you will need a 12V supply. Some SATA power to Molex adapters will short the 12V line since 5V and 3.3V are more common in smaller peripherals (M.2, 2.5" SSD). You would never know unless you peer inside the connector itself. While 4-pin molex is older, my guess is Razer wanted to be ultra super sure that 12V is guaranteed with their connector. As to why the use of a micro USB to 10-pin single sided internal USB header....I honestly don't know. The Razer Synapse software is ok....but it's detection capability is pretty crappy. I have the following lighted accessories: Zotac 4090 RTX Trinity OC Asus Thor 1000W PSU Bitspower Motherboard Monoblock for ASRock X299e-ITX/ac Singularity Computers Wraith 3.0 Elite Distribution Plate Singularity Computers Wraith 3.0 Dark Powerboard With the Synapse software, only the 4090, monoblock, and Distro Plate LED's were detected. What's funny is that when the computer is cold booted, the powerboard and PSU lights will flicker on and then off. But the Razer Synapse software refuses to detect them after it loads and they stay off. Warm boot or reboot of the machine has no effect, the Razer Synapse software just won't detect them. However, when using SignalRGB - the situation is much improved. It's almost like the software forces on each of the six connection points on the Razer Chroma controller. This means all the lights come on, and have as much configuration potential as the Synapse software, probably a lot more since it's vendor agnostic. I'd recommend SignalRGB over any Razer software package. The other benefit is that USB device discovery does not flicker the lights. This is a common background task of the software, to check whether anything new has been plugged in. With Synapse, a device discovery query will flicker everything on and off. If you have VM's running as I do, this can occasionally disrupt USB device sharing. SignalRGB doesn't seem to have this problem. Good luck! ... show more

  • Fantastic and easy solution for RGB!
This is a great little hub and device for controlling all your PC's ARGB items. Instructions and design are simple, it mounted easily to a SSD drive mount on the back of my PC's case (Fractal North XL). I really like that it simply plugs into a spare USB header on the motherboard for control, as my motherboard was old enough to not have a dedicated ARGB header. Can't comment on the software, as I run Linux, but Open RGB immediately detected it, and with very little configuration, I had it up and running, looking how I wanted. If I had one suggestion to Razer, I'd recommend coming out with these in a couple shapes, with either a few more or few less headers, for folks that might want something longer but slimmer, or some such, but really, I can't fault the product at all, which is rare for PC "bling" items. ... show more

  • A controller that actually works!
FINALLY! An ARGB controller that actually works! Before I purchased this controller, my addressable RGB lighting was not addressable. Any previous hubs/splitters I would use could only sync ALL the lights and allowed only 1 color to display at a time. This controller allowed my RGB software to see each fan and LED light as its own device. It also passes the Addressable signal to each attached device. I can now see my ARGB effects the way they are suppose to appear. Each light on each attached device is individually controllable. The only drawback to this controller is it only has six ports. It IS possible to connect multiple controllers to 1 system. I purchased a USB Header Splitter and have 2 controllers for a total of 12 controllable devices. I want to confirm YES you CAN use multiple controllers. This is a 5v Controller only. Does NOT support 12v. It also is not a fan controller. Strictly LED only. You can connect Fan lighting to the controller but it will not control fan speed. When the device was detected by my machine, it offered to download the software. I declined in favor of 3rd party software. Since I am using SignalRGB, I can't confirm if the Razer software supports multiple controllers but the software I used did. These controllers not only worked right away, they were easy to hook up and easy to control. The installation only took a few minutes. If you want full control over your ARGB devices, this controller is a great option. The ports vs price makes a great value. Other controllers do not have as my connections or are proprietary. This one worked with all my devices no matter who the LED manufacture was. ... show more

  • Great addition, but not Rosewill compatable
Very easily installed, but had one minor issue. I had a Rosewill RGB controller with fans and a couple non-adaptive RGB fans. The plugs for the Rosewill fans were nothing like the standard plugs on this controller. Also, the non-addressable fans didn't match up, only allowing 2 of the 3 wires to connect. (I opted not to take any chances.) I do not fault Razer for these problems and plan to reinstall it once I have upgraded to better fans. (my Rosewill fans have NO controls, do not connect to the motherboard and the remote doesn't work.) I feel the price is good, (though they did release a beefier fan controller for $10 more, that handles more fans, but doesn't mention RGB control) I am happy with the product and feel the quality seems very good. ... show more
