Good beginners catchers mitt or for coaching little league. If you have a few extra bucks, buy the Rawlings Sandlot instead. Sandlot is stiffer but with better leather quality. The Player Preferred is still a good glove for the price.

I bought this catcher’s mitt because my son is throwing much harder and while practicing pitching with me, my regular glove would not protect my hand enough with the repetitive hard throws. So I don’t need it daily and it won’t be played in game situations, so I can’t talk to that part of it. It is a bit smaller than I thought it would be on my hand and I don’t have huge hands. It was easy to break in and it does protect my hand very well except one time I was catching for another kid and I caught it at a weird angle and my palm was stinging after that. Also, I do keep my index finger on the outside which is more a comfort and habit thing so that has helped me keep my most exposed finger to the catching mitt protected even more. I really like it and think it’s a great glove for the price. I would recommend it in a heart beat for younger kids and adults who need more hand protection for their hard throwing aces. ... show more

As described and just what I needed. Break it in the old school way with some conditioner or mink oil and the oven. Rub some dirt into it and just use it. Great price for a quality product.
