We have 4 grandsons ages 2-1/2-7 years old. They had a blast this summer sitting on this blow up chair to start skiing. They step off the back of the boat to sit down on the seat. We push them out & get the boat straight, then start up & after the slack gets out of the rope, they stand up straight with the skis on tied together & can ski for a long distance. I have a boom for the side of my boat for training new skiers. Anyone can get up on the boom. However, transitioning them to the ski rope behind the boat is a big step for most people. They are always disappointed that they can't get up as easily as they can on the boom. That's where the Aqua Buddy comes in. You sit the skier in the seat of the Aqua Buddy, help them with their skies and give them the rope. As long as they keep their knees bent and arms straight, they will get it - it may still take a couple tries. After succeeding 1-2 times on the Aqua Buddy, they have the feel and transition to deep water starts quite easily. this summer we haven't even bothered with the ski boom, just started them from the Aqua Buddy and saved much effort and emotional trauma. We've even been using it for people who know how to ski but haven't done it for a couple years. Note: you'll have to be careful on a busy lake, the skier can drag it out a ways from shore. I’m in no way connected to this company so my comments are 100% unbiased. This product greatly shortens the time it takes to learn how to get up out of the water. It’s amazing that once you get the feeling of surfing, it just happens. Before this product, I couldn’t get out of the water (30+ tries). I got it on the second try with this and never needed it again. The only downside? You have to go chase it down while it floats and you’re pulling someone in the opposite direction - well worth the sacrifice. We love this, got one of our young family members up skiing (we've been trying to get her up for 3 years!) This made it fun, easy and less pressure on the shoulders and arms then being pulled out of the water.
