Many months later I'm still loving this paddle.

I've been playing with this paddle since last winter and it continues to impress me. I play 3-4 times per week and this paddle is still creating great spin after months of regular use. This IS NOT a power paddle, you will have to generate the power. It's has a soft and dense feel which makes it very controllable. I did add 3grams of weigh on each side to add a little extra stability which I thought made the paddle even better. I follow the paddle market closely and there are some great paddles coming out on the $100 price point but I've not found a reason to buy a new paddle yet. For anyone like me looking to (finally) try a Toray T700 Raw Carbon Paddle, this Hisk Rav Pro I’m told is a near Joola Hyperion cone at less than 1/3 the price. It is an unbeatable price point to get yourself started. I’ve been a Selkirk guy until now (Invikta Vanguard, SLK Evo Soft) and this paddle is quite enjoyable. It’s about an ounce lighter, which helps my bad wrist, and has more pop off the surface by comparison. Handle is very comfortable without overgrip, I had to put overgrip on Selkirk to achieve same comfort. Only 51/4 grip length but I’m ok with that. The package even comes with a paddle case and 2 wrist bands. I’m waiting for Joola to press charges this deal is so good! In general, I do think charging $150-200 for paddles for this sport is outrageous given the deals offered on tennis racquets by comparison. Is it obvious I’m a convert? Haha. Anyway I think a lack of trademarks in this sports allows us customers to reap the benefits of good paddles on the cheap if you’re willing to do some research. PLAYABILITY - For all those saying this paddle has no power, it certainly has lots of pop compared to any non-raw carbon fiber (Toray) paddle. This is not thermoformed, which is the latest trend, and no Kevlar used (also a growing trend). My hands are faster at the kitchen with this paddle, my dinks have more pop and penetrate the other side of the court with more ease than my old Selkirks Invika Vanguard / SLK Evo Soft. Shots have lots of precision. Down the line, lobs, dipping drives into the kitchen, you name it. Excellent drops. They list handle as 4.5 “ but it feels like 4 3/8 (which is preferable). I may go with the Vatic Pro Prism Flash with the next one, but for now, holding off as this is the best paddle under $100 (under $65 really) out there. In your face, Six Zero, Joola, Selkirk, CRBN, Gearbox, Diadem, etc. At a $50-65 price point, the inclusion of the nice wrist bands, overwrap and paddle cover, it’s a very nice value. To get even 6 solid months out of a paddle this good suffices for a player like me. UPDATE July 2024 - I got the Vatic Pro Prism Flash in March, and quickly determined the HISK Rav Pro is actually the BETTER paddle. For me anyways. I'm a lefty who comes from tennis, and enjoy drives and speed ups as the two best parts of my 3.5/4.0 game. The handle is not as comfortable or as long as the HISK, which hurts 2-handed backhands. I also thought the Vatic had a bit less power and pop, especially on drives. I'm a big fan of "Ridge" handle grips, and the HISK delivers a grip in line with the Joola Hyperion Gen 1. I also tried the Joola Hyperion Vision 16mm CGS and wasn't convinced that's a better paddle than the HISK either. Mind you, it's twice the price, or more. ... show more

I played with this last night for the first time and it was sick. Great grippy surface for incredible spin. Sweet spot was slightly smaller than I'm used to right out the box. I added 1x 3g lead tape at the top and 1 on each side at the 4 and 8 o'clock positions on the curve. Definitely opened it up and gave a little more oomph for drives. Great control paddle and could place dinks with ease. The handle is great for 2 handed backhand but is less octagonal, more rectangular, than my other paddles. I actually don't mind that because it gives a frame of reference for how it is oriented/angled, just takes getting used to. I thought I would need the overgrip as I've had to add one to my other paddles but the grip is a good size (larger than most but haven't measured it). I'm glad they used the textured grip with the lip built-in, gives a better grip To get this level of paddle WITH a case (usually $10-15 alone) and an extra overgrip in such great packaging is a steal. If the price stays this low and the paddle is able to last a few months, I'll never need to buy any other brand of paddle. I have a Ronbus 1.16, Vatic Pro Prism 14 mm, and Hudef Viva Pro Gen 2. I like trying out affordable paddles and this is a great one that, so far, I would highly suggest. ... show more

Updated Review.. in short the best $59 paddle out there.

Pros: Comes in a nice box with a cover Had sweat wristbands Extra grip wrap Paddle face eraser for cleaning Weight of mine is 7.8 oz Only think I don't like so far is the grip feels more boxy than octagon. I do like that it is a larger grip. Helps with tennis elbow generally speaking. I just got a J2k and wanted an extra for back up and loaning out. Update I’m pretty new so take this opinion from that perspective. My j2k and the Rav came in around the same time and I got to play with both. While different I like them both. I could tell the twist rate is better with the j2k. I wish the Rav was more of a hybrid shape. But overall you don’t need to spend $150 for a j2k. Get this and play your heart out. If you are better it may not be for you but at my level this is more than fine based on ratings I'm only a 2.5-3. I did add a tad bit of lead tape when I got home because the sweet spot on and twist rate compared to the J2K was no where as good. 2, 3 gram strips brought it up to 8 oz roughly. Last note: There I looked at the 1 star reviews. That is because Amazon sent returned paddles to them. Not Hisk's fault. In addition the one who's broke did not mention if they reached out to Hisk or even attached pictures. Paddles can break at the handle, but the design of the Hisk should reduce that occurance. ... show more

UPDATE. I’ve played with this paddle a few more weeks and have added some lead tape near the 3 & 9 o’clock positions on the paddle. Definitely feel I have a good bit more drive and punch to my shots. I wouldn’t call it “pop” per se, but more solid power off my shots. Loving it. Still recommend!!! I’ve been playing the Hisk Rav Pro for several weeks now. I’m a tennis convert who’s really fallen in love with the game. Some comments on this paddle: Control is excellent. Can generate some substantive spin. Paddle face size is on the smaller side requiring a tad more accuracy to connect well. Power is good, but I wouldn’t say exceptional, especially if you miss the sweet spot a little. This is most noticeable on lobs which I’ve struggle to get the height and depth I’ve wanted—though this could be poor technique. At the same time, I’ve found that perhaps this little less power helps balls that would otherwise go long land close to lines—very nice when it does! Gonna try some lead tape to help sweet spot size and power. May update review afterward. Conclusion. A VERY solid paddle. If your technique is solid you can place the ball wherever you want! If you like precision placement and control this is a no brainer. If you want something a little more forgiving with more pop, might want to look elsewhere. Nevertheless, at this price point, a definite steal. Buy it!!! ... show more

First, I don’t like to comment on others reviews, but when I feel it’s necessary, I will. With regards to the 2 star review who references power and Joola…. Its important to understand what these paddles are: they are considered Gen 1.5 paddles. Meaning, they are unibody, and foam edges, but are NOT thermoformed (which are considered Gen 2 paddles). If you don’t know the difference, or want to know, look them up. In a nutshell, people who want “power” often tend to get a Gen 2 thermo paddle (which typically run $150, or double the price of this paddle). So people can generate their own power and don’t need a thermoformed paddle and simply like the softer feel and control of a Gen 1.5 paddle. This reviewer also mentions Joola. If they are comparing this to a Joola, it would be the Hyperion (it can’t be the PERSEUS as it’s thermoformed). When compared to a Hyperion, which I’ve had, this paddle weighs 7.75 oz vs. a much heavier 8.5oz Hyperion. The construction of this paddle is good. I’ve taken off the grip and inspected the quality, and I don’t see any “low quality” issues. I play with both thermo paddles (r3 pulsar) and there are times when I prefer this paddle. They both have a role…depending on the type of player you are playing and/or singles or doubles. I liked the paddle so much, that I got a backup, as I saw the black version sold out and I wanted to snag one of these before they sold out also. For the price of this paddle, I’ve seen at $70 and $80 price points and sometimes with discounts off that, it’s unbeatable. It’s carbon fiber, so there is plenty of spin. Anyone who says there isn’t, probably doesn’t know the proper spin mechanics…. I played high level tennis and have zero issues playing with this in a tournament. If you feel you need a Joola, then by all means, go for it, but also realize, these paddles are all made in the same factories as Joolas lol. And at the end of the day, $250 won’t suddenly get you gold medals. I mean, Ben Johns played with a Franklin before his Joola and he still was racking up wins…… ... show more

It's okay, but priced too high

I am fine with pickle ball paddle. It functions much better than one that was part of a set that a teammate was letting me borrow when I first started playing (she'd upgraded to a nicer paddle). There is nothing special about it, though, that justifies the nearly $50 that I paid for it (price AFTER the discount/sale... original price was nearly $80). I played with it for about 6 months or so, and didn't realize I'd overpaid until my boyfriend decided he wanted to start playing. I ran to Walmart and picked one up for him about $20 and told him we could invest more in a "good" paddle if he decided he likes playing the game. Well... his is black... mine is black... I accidentally grabbed his one time, and played a game with it, and the difference was amazing! I'd done "okay" with MY paddle, so I assumed I was an "okay" player. lol With HIS paddle, I played an amazing game. We didn't discover I'd grabbed his paddle until the game was over. I chalked the great game up to a "fluke" at first. But over time... if he doesn't go with me, and I grab our bag and tend to use his paddle. Whenever I use mine, I can hit the ball and normally keep it in the court, but when I use his... my game is better (balls go exactly where I aim them). I'm a casual player (although some of the people I play with our fairly advance, one even goes to tournaments and wins), so I won't be replacing it anytime soon, but I thought I'd done research and got a good paddle for a beginner that plays once a week at a fair price. Every player is different (I don't have "spin" or anything fancy), so I don't want to discourage anybody, but for me, I paid twice as much for something that performs half as well as the one I picked up at Walmart for my boyfriend. I'm too cheap to buy another, so I'll keep using it, but when it needs replaced, I'm getting the same one I got for my boyfriend. Mine has a case, where his did not, but I'll just keep the case. I already checked, and his fits in it. Honestly, except for the brand name, our paddles look identical. ... show more
