I have a bit of a problem when it comes to hand tools... I love collecting them. I use them frequently in my shop, but I have gathered quite a few different sets over the years. Because of that, I have had more than my fair share of bad experiences with ratcheting wrenches, usually involving seized mechanisms or sloppy gearing. So, when I got my hands on this set, I was naturally a bit skeptical and prepared to be disappointed. However, after running them through a gauntlet of tests, I am happy to report that this set has been a solid performer. Given my history with these types of tools, the very first thing I did was take every single wrench out of the roll and manually test the ratcheting mechanisms I wanted to see if there was any binding, skipping, or rough spots in the rotation. Every single wrench in the kit felt smooth and consistent right from the start. I then took a few sizes over to my workbench to test the fitment on some random bolts. As you can see in my photos, I set up a test with a bolt in a wood block to check the grip and the swing arc. The 72-tooth mechanism offers a tight enough swing to be useful in cramped spaces without needing a huge range of motion to grab the next tooth. I have since moved these into my "active rotation", using them primarily on small engine repairs and some random automotive stuff. They have been great for working on my lawn tractor, snow blower, and various generators. The flex-head feature is invaluable for those awkward angles you find on carburetors or exhaust shrouds where a straight wrench just cannot reach. The heads are tight enough to hold their angle while you position the tool but loose enough to adjust without a fight. One feature I really appreciate is the color-coding. As shown in the pictures, each wrench has a small colored band on the neck. It makes it much faster to grab the right size when you are in the middle of a job. The roll-up bag is also a highlight. It is made of a heavy-duty grey canvas with strong buckles. It feels durable and keeps everything organized, which is why this set has quickly become part of my mobile tool rotation. Overall, I have no negative feedback on these so far. While I have not put massive torque on them (I would use a breaker bar or a fixed wrench for that anyway) they have met all my needs as a hobbyist mechanic. For the cost, the value here is solid. I think some folks would argue that, but in my case I see a good value. I guess time will tell though, as these ratcheting mechanisms can go out easily over time with just light use. Pros: Comprehensive set includes both Metric (8-18mm) and SAE (1/4-3/4) sizes. Flex-head design allows access to tight and awkward spaces. Color-coded bands make size identification quick and easy. Ratcheting mechanisms were smooth with no binding on all units tested. Includes a durable canvas roll bag that is perfect for mobile use. Cons: Flex heads might be a point of weakness if subjected to extreme torque, though this is true for all flex-head tools.

First off, I have owned a cabinet shop since 2011. Before that I was a mechanic for Kroger, fixing anything they needed. So I've had some experience with lots of different tools. This is probably my 11th set of wrenches lol. Here are the major points I found when testing these out: 1) The bag is great. Heavy duty material. The clasp are thick and strong. The handle is nice. Its one of the best wrench bags that I have owned. 2) There is a good mix of SAE and Metric wrenches. Good enough for most jobs. I checked and they have some of the most needed sizes, like a 10mm and 7/16" ones. 3) It came with that little gauge to measure bolts/nuts. Its neat, but I'm afraid I will lose it. There is no particular place to store it in the bag. So you just have to stick it in when you roll it up . I'm not buy this based on that thing. 4) The color rings on the wrenches are ok. I could see how they could be useful. Like when you needed a 10mm and you remembered the 10mm wrench had the the yellow ring around it. They rubber bands appear to be pretty tough so I'd expect them to last for many years. 5) The sizes of each wrench is stamped into to the metal, not laser engraved. That means they are easy to see and will last many years. I know because I've had to use one of my lasers to redo engravings on some tools. 6) The racheting ends are not selectable. They always will go the same way. That is fine by me, because I know which way to always put the wrench onto something. The trick is to look at the open end of the wrench and see which way its facing. 7) The wrenches felt good in my hands. They turned easily. I held onto them without losing my grip easily. I could find no issues with usability. 8) Value? I'd consider this a slightly better than average value. You are paying around $4 per wrench and getting the case for free. Thats not bad and these are fine wrenches. But I have owned higher end ones. I would consider these a good set for someone that is going to use them fairly often, but not for someone that needs them for a job and everyday use.
