  • Changes the ride way for the better
I loves these shocks. They prevent the van from rocking too much or tipping on the turns. They prevent rub on my oversized tires in the wheel wells because of less rocking.

  • Good product and adjustability to boot!
Bought a pair (front two of four) of the Rancho RS999150 RS9000XL shocks for my GMC K1500 Suburban back in 2007. The fronts lasted about 80,000 miles and 7 years. Pretty good IMHO for a truck shock. The valving went bad on one of these (right front) and sounded like a loose front sway-bar drop link. Chased that for a few weeks until isolated the "clunk" to the body of this shock. Always replace shocks and rotors in pairs so ... installed these and set to 4 of 9 which is about right for daily driving a 1/2 ton Suburban. The adjustment seem to affect rebound more than bounce which is good when you need to stiffen (especially rears) for towing. I pull a 24' box trailer with car inside (#5500 lbs) and the adjustability of the Rancho RS9000XL shocks with SuperSprings roller shackle add-a-leafs on the rear make it all work. **Disclaimer - I have used Bilsteins on Porsche, BMW, Chevrolet and GMC and don't like them b/c of high compression settings and non-adjustability. Have replaced all Bilsteins with Konis (love them) and these Ranchos b/c of ADJUSTABILITY. Cheers! ... show more

  • Best shocks I ever have had!
I love these! Worth every penny. I drive a '94 GMC 3500 Long Bed Crew Cab, and with these my ride has transformed into a smooth, agile, "car-like" riding beast! My only complaint is with the air controls. Not worth the money. Mine only lasted a year. And I had them set at the same setting 99% of the time. Just set the deial on the shocks, and you'll be happy!!!! Enjoy the transformation these babies will make!!! ... show more

  • NOT worth the money and not what a flagship product should be.
98 GMC Yukon, stock suspension, installed at 124,000 miles - I bought four Rancho 9000XLs after reading the other reviews and doing lots of research. This is not a long term review, but I might update it in the future. The most concerning issue I've found so far was that during the install, the front passenger side shock did not extend far enough to match the full travel of the vehicle's suspension. In order to make it fit, I had to lower that side of the vehicle and compress the suspension slightly so that the shock would align with the mounting bracket By comparison, the old Bilstien shock that this replaced was simply unbolted and removed. The travel of the Bilstien shock seemed to match perfectly, while the Rancho did not. It didn't complicate the install too much, but I'm worried about what will happen if I hit a rut or pothole large enough to drop the wheel. Another issue are the adjustment knobs. These are constructed of fragile plastic which is totally inappropriate for the application. One was broken when it arrived. The shipping materials were all in good condition, so it did not appear to be from mishandling. Another broke when I tossed the shock into the back my Yukon, which is carpeted and was covered by a blanket at the time. I now have two "adjustable" shocks with broken adjustment knobs. On these two shocks, the underlying adjustment surfaces (well greased brass) are exposed to the elements and free to collect dirt, dust and grime until I can fashion a replacement. The shock boots are a joke. The ones I received would not fit on the shocks (this goes for all four) without cutting or other modification. If you manage to install yours, I commend your patience and ingenuity. Mine went to the landfill. The welds on the shocks looked sloppy. They were jagged with visible spatter on all four shocks. The finish on the welds was so poor that mild surface rust was present. To top it all off, these really didn't improve the ride or handling characteristics of my vehicle. In this respect, they are basically identical to, and possibly worse, than the shocks that they replaced. I've replaced shocks on similar vehicles (93 Suburban, for example) before and was rewarded with tremendous improvements in driveability. I would love to adjust these Ranchos and see if that helps, but I've got those broken adjustment knobs to deal with. I carry a lot of cargo in my Yukon. The first time I loaded the truck with inventory, these Ranchos sagged like breasts in a nursing home. I would dial up the adjustment, but... yeah... the knobs are broken (one front, one back). My geographical location (Alaska) makes it very impractical to return or exchange a product like this, so it looks like I'm stuck with these shocks until they wear out or I sell the truck. In short, I paid a lot of money for these shocks and they simply aren't worth it. ... show more
