Description

RS5000X Gas Shock, The core of this new and innovative shock from Rancho is the unique and patented rebound valving system and an advanced compression phase of the shock absorber. This proprietary process developed by the ride engineers at Rancho will elevate the overall handling and performance of your vehicle on and off-road. Each RS5000X shock is gas pressurized to 150 PSI. The twin tube, gas pressurized shock has a variety of advantages including minimizing air-to-oil mixture that can cause foaming and shock fade. Gas pressurization also provides a mild boost of spring rate to the vehicle. The RS5000X series features a 2-1/4-inch diameter shock body. A larger shock body allows for increased fluid capacity to operate cooler and to increase vehicle control and performance at varying speeds and terrains. The RS5000X series combines a larger shock body with all-weather fluid, allowing the shock to withstand internal temperatures between -40 and 248 degrees Fahrenheit. The Rancho RS5000X series design includes patented progressive rebound and compression discs. At lower speeds or in the earlier stages of the shock's travel, an eccentric disc in the valve shim stacks will engage the valving at lower frequencies, helping to control the energy of motion as the cycle of the shock increases or decreases in its action. When hitting a pothole, off-road trail obstacle or similar activity, Rancho's Progressive Engagement Valving allows for early flow of fluid, helping to reduce harsh initial impacts and to control the flow of fluid in a progressive, gradual manner through the valving. During on- or off-road driving activities like washboarding or when travelling a rough fire road, the early flow of fluid helps to minimize a "rough" ride as the piston movement is able to glide through the initial travel motion of the shock with minimal ground impact or force. If needed, the Progressive Engagement Valving will further engage to maintain control and stability.

  • Fit well and look grat too.
Great ride now.

  • Better ride
Switched out the Fox2.0 on my 2-door JK for these based on a lot of reviews. Big difference in ride quality, not jarring anymore. Only reason for the 4-star is one of the fronts was missing the hardware and the old parts had different thread. Seller is supposed to send a new hardware package (rubbers, washers and nut) but haven’t heard when or if it’s coming. Overall though, very happy ... show more

  • Great ride quality, just do your research!
These shocks are great over rough terrain, very soft and smooth. They’re not valved to soak very large bumps, so if you’re heading to the desert races I’d look elsewhere. But for leisurely driving trails this is one of the best shocks I’ve used. I can run washboard roads at decent speed without airing down, and asphalt seams are nearly unnoticeable. These are the qualities I was looking for in a shock, and I got exactly what I was looking for. Side note; I have these fitted on a JKUR with Teraflex leveling coils, 1” bump stop extensions, and factory length brake lines. For my setup, these shocks allow the most amount of travel in both directions, without bottoming out or overextending cover terrain. I initially installed the Rancho set for 0-2” lift but I’d overextend the shocks often while off-road. Now, the factory arms followed by the brake lines are my limiting factor. ... show more

  • Good shocks
These ride good and perform well off road too !

  • Much better ride on and off road.
Coming from stock shocks and springs with a TeraFlex lift block kit. These are fantastic. I combined them with raptor RSO 2.5 springs. Better handling on road… off road sooo much better. Tire spends more time touching the dirt in washerboards. Great for the money, great overall. I clear coated them with a rattle can… paint seems thin to me… ... show more

  • Good
They look good and fit fine on my 2007 Wrangler with a 2.5" lift. They are a little too stiff, causing a bit of a harsh ride. I think this is common with heavy duty shocks but I wish they would tune them for a lighter vehicle like the Jeep. Why do proper shocks have to cost a fortune. After six months I see the paint is rubbing off from the red plastic shield on the rear shocks. Finish is not going to last long... ... show more

  • I feel safe now.
I got the Jeep as second hand and it was pretty scary to drive. It rocked like sail boat, and was swerving and swaying. I had to steer with both hands constantly and keep moving left and right. Before spending fortune at shop, I decided to replace shocks for my self. I didn't expect the shock will correct entire problems but it did. I can cruise with only one hand on steering wheel and it doesn't lean to side on turning. I just couldn't believe the previous owner drove in that condition. The old shocks seemed pretty solid and this one didn't seem to be more firm and solid but it made huge difference after the installation. ... show more

  • Great value and performance
Installed on a 2007 JKU along with a Tera Flex 2.5 lift and love them! -If you're concerned about looks, either clear coat them or get some rattle can white the finish does not look very thikc. -I've had them off road several times and the perform great. Mostly OHV parks with some rock crawling and have enjoyed them and the ride there. ... show more
