🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

This generator has garnered mixed reviews, highlighting its reliability and ease of use for significant power needs like RVs and rural homes but also pointing out some issues with battery and power production for heavy-duty tasks. Users appreciate the generator's performance for continuous use and its ability to start easily with a pull rope, even though some have faced challenges with parts replacement and the electric start feature.

Pros

  • 👍 Easy to assemble and start, often on the first pull
  • 🔋 Reliable power source for RVs, homes, and during outages
  • 🏕️ Suitable for heavy continuous use, with one review noting 15 hours a day for 3 weeks
  • 💡 Versatile usage for appliances, including running an RV AC almost constantly

Cons

  • 🔧 Parts and customer support can be challenging to access
  • ⚡ Some units may stop producing electricity after extensive use
  • 🔋 Battery issues, including difficulty starting with a dead battery and potential for overfilling oil
  • 💼 Design flaws, such as the position of the 50A outlet blocking access when the wheel assembly is attached

Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a versatile and robust generator for continuous or emergency use and are prepared to navigate some potential issues with parts or battery, this generator may well suit your needs. Its ease of use, reliability for powering heavy loads, and overall value for money make it a strong contender, particularly if you're willing to tolerate possible design flaws and customer service challenges.

  • This is a good generator, but customer support is a Go online to their website.
Style: R4400
What did not like was the battery was dead . There was nothing, no click nothing. I have my battery charger on it now. I was very happy with the ease of starting it with the rope. It started on the first pull. There is no number to call with questions. That is not good. It was easy to put together. The main reason I bought this generator was for the electric starting so I was really disappointed. The generator part is fine, I just hope the starter is okay after charging. I went out the next morning and found that there was a connector between the battery and the starter. I cut the cable tie then put the ends together. I hit the starter button and the engine started right up. So the battery was not dead just not hooked. I really like this generator. ... show more

  • Can not get customer service to send me a parts list. It runs great until......
Style: R12000DF
I have had the gen for 3 years. I am not needing to replace some parts. Not un expected for a 3 year old generator. Problem is, They do not have a parts list available on the website and will not respond to emails requesting one.

  • Powerful generator at a good price
Style: R12000DF
I'm using this to operate an RV with a 50 amp hookup, and to power a well that requires a 30 amp hookup, while waiting for the electric company to install my line. This arrived undamaged, was fairly easy to assemble the few parts that needed to be, and fired right up. Running the RV with AC almost all the time, the generator runs about 10 hours or so with a full tank of gas. At the time of this writing, it's been running about 15 hours a day for 2 weeks without issue. When I do get my electricity installed and later when my house is built, I feel confident this unit has the guts to run the house during power outages (fairly frequent out here in rural OK). Based on my experience so far, I recommend this unit because it has lots of bang for your buck. EDIT: Been running this generator for 20 days now, 15 hours a day, with AC, PCs, appliances, TV, etc. I am getting about 10 hours per tankful of gas. Not bad. For this kind of use, check the oil level a couple times a week, and add a little when the dipstick shows low. It only holds a little over a quart of oil, so ONLY add a little oil, check the dipstick, and add more accordingly. It doesn't take much to suddenly overfill it. So far, this unit has been stellar. Hopefully, I will have my electricity line run soon. It IS tedious living off a generator. ... show more

  • Stopped producing electricity after 120 hours of use
Style: R4400DF
This generator worked well while it worked - it stopped producing electricity after 120 hours of runtime. I ran it on gasoline for a while, then switched over to propane no problem. I had trouble starting it with the pull start when the battery was dead. As far as I can tell it was impossible to start via pull start with a dead battery, which led me to believe that the battery is somehow required to produce spark to the engine...not sure. The battery is fairly easy to run down, if you accidentally leave the off/run/start rocker switch in the run position while the unit is not running it will run the batter down. This happened to me once while it was stored in the garage, which led me to discover that pull starting it was impossible (for me). Nicer units (e.g. Firman) will switch into "low power mode" if you leave the run switch on and the unit is not running, which I believe will protect from this happening. Running on propane it struggled to restart (after being warmed up). Often times it required the starter button to be held for quite a while (up to 20 seconds or so), and the choke lever to be moved between choke and run repeatedly. Ultimately it stopped producing electricity at about 120 hours of run time. The engine would start and run fine, but the run clock wouldn't light up and the plugs did not produce any power. I guess some kind of electrical fault occurred. Maybe this unit will do if you are in a pinch, but I would not count on it working long-term. ... show more

  • Decent generator
Style: R12000DF
Ran well 24/7 for the days we needed it. Keep an eye on the oil quality. It's not true however it could run a typical household easy peasy. If you run a 50A dryer you'll need to turn off just about everything else but a couple of LED lamps and cross your fingers. When I ran just lights (LEDs) it once unreasonably tripped when I powered the microwave, it didn't happen again but that didn't make sense. When not hooked up to the generator fuse/switch box (via the 50A outlet), the 110V outlets handled quite well and tolerated a spaghetti of extension cords -- except some computer UPS batteries kept tripping it and they kept going nuts beeping over the not very steady voltage which varied around 3 volts I think. No other loads in the house seemed to care about that variance - I used a decent adapter to protect my computers. Not a bad product and it's priced ok, maybe a little on the edge of unreasonable. I'd recommend it based on what I know so far. The dummy design awards go to the 50A outlet position which gets blocked by the wheel assembly if I remember correctly. So the high energy output leaves a few millimeters of exposed leads when using a 90 heavy duty cable plugin to the switch box. If they had designed that outlet to rotate, it would have been a genius award. They need a more intuitive unpacking labelling out of the box. After you've struggled a little bit you realize it was easy after all. That machine is pretty heavy so be sure to set up the handles as the very first thing before messing with the wheels (if it's written in the manual I didn't read it until when I needed to safety check the engine :)) I also give them credit for shipping it to me with a battery installed, that was very cool and appreciated. So there you have it. Good luck! ... show more
