Great kit, really helps for old cars with low headlight visibility. Pros: - Works great on old vehicles. At first I thought that the bulbs on our old car were just a lot worse than our newer cars but after cleaning them they work great. - Bottles last longer than expected. I cleaned the headlights on all 3 of our vehicles and there was still stuff left - Easy to use Cons: - Why didn't I know about this sooner? I am 110% satisfied with this restoration kit. Instructions are easy to follow. The kit only takes 10-15 minutes to apply. And once you restore your headlights you will notice a drastic difference. I was able to clean all 3 of our vehicles with one kit, a 15 year old Ford Taurus, a 10 year old Dodge Stratus and a 7 year old Yukon. The kit helped on all the vehicles but the Taurus & Stratus were night and day differences. I was literally shocked at how clear the headlights were after using this kit. There was so much gunk and scratches on the headlights before using the kit and the headlights looked nearly brand new after using the kit. I use the kit every couple of years now to keep our headlights in pristine condition.

Pros: - Sanding pads are a good improvement over just sandpaper - Requires no additional tools - "Sealer" puts an awesome finish on your headlights Cons: - Sanding grits may be a little too coarse - Plenty of materials for more than one set of headlights, except for the Lubricant Before you begin, get yourself a small bucket of water, a sponge, several paper towels, a lawn chair and about 20 minutes per headlight. The directions are good and complete, but they say to "apply firm pressure" with the sanding pads and I would say that you should not. Go pretty lightly to avoid scratching your headlight lenses too deeply. If your lenses have a thick layer of oxidation on them, make more passes with the sanding pads, don't press harder. I ended up with some scratching that the #3 pad and the polish couldn't get out, but the "Sealer" did a pretty darned good job of covering up those minor blemishes. I used basically all of the Lubricant spray provided. If you used another spray, perhaps some kind of household cleaner for counter tops and such, I think you could use this kit for several sets of headlights instead of just one. They say it contains surfactants, which I'm not sure Windex and the like do, but most counter cleaners will. There was plenty of polish and sealer to go around. The "Sealer" did such a nice job of putting a very clear finish on the lens and was very smooth to the touch so may help with headlight performance in rain. I just don't know if it's really meaningfully sealing the headlights against anything. We'll see if they appear to degrade again as quickly as they did in the first place.

I purchased this kit based on a recommendation from Poplar Mechanics magazine. I had what a friend called a cataract on one of my lenses on my 06 Tundra (the other had been replaced 3 years ago do to a mishap). I actually read the directions on the box before I started work. I started off by cleaning the cover with 409 and a microfiber towel to get any dirt off and then I used the sanding pads in order following the pattern that they laid out. I liked the lubricant they included, so it was like wet sanding the lens. After sanding, I wiped everything down with 409 again and then I used the polishing compound included as the final step. I would say that the kit brought the cover back to 90% of the new one, so I was very impressed. I would say that it took me 30 minutes from start to finish on one lens, so if you have two, do the math. The only negative that I would give is the included microfiber towel is much more micro than the picture, by like 75%, so have your own towels ready. It did work well as an applicator for the rubbing compound at the end. This kit costs less than $14 which is a lot less than other kits I looked at and I gave it 5 stars for bringing the cover back as far as it did. I would also say that you could probably do 20 headlights with this kit, so if you have friends that need to do this chore, you can share.

I used this this kit to restore headlights on a 2002 Toyota Camry XLE. It was a multi-step process that took maybe an hour to complete. The results were good and the headlights were clear and yellow haze free. The problem is the affect doesn't last very long. In my situation the process needs to be repeated about ever six-months. Six months isn't too bad, but it took a lot longer than six months for the lenses to initially haze over after the vehicle was new. Would I recommend this item? Yes. But I would make sure the person to whom it was being recommended understood that the cleaning treatment shouldn't be considered long term and to expect to repeat the cleaning on a somewhat regular basis. Maybe this is why Amazon offers subscription service for this item.

So I bought this product a while back...like 8 months back, stuck it in a closet, and forgot about it. Found it today and decided to use it since I had a little extra time on my hands. I wasn't really expecting much from this product, but I thought even a small improvement would be better than nothing. First I did the headlight on the driver's side, not using much elbow grease...basically just following the directions on the box, going through the motions. Once I finished the last step (adding the sealant) I was surprised on how well it work!! The customer's pictures for this product are accurate! Seriously, my lights went from a hazy mess to looking like they were almost new! Then I went to work on the headlight on the passenger side, but this time I really worked at it...scrubbing it like a dirty bathtub. Again, once I finished, my light looked amazing! Even though I scrubbed this light harder than the driver side one, they look almost the same. My driver's light looks a little bit more hazy but it's not noticeable. So much so, I didn't even bother to redo the driver's light...mostly because the difference in the lights is so slight and also a little out of laziness. Both headlights took me about 15-20 each. Not only does this product work crazy well, but I have so much left over I could do a million other cars!! Ok not a million...more like 3 or 4. Seriously, buy this product if you have hazy lights. I hadn't done a thing to my headlights in the whole 7 years that I have owned my car, and now they look like they're almost new.

My 2004 Chrysler Pacifica has a light haze on its headlights; not work the $800. replacement cost of the High Output lens, but it was making the car look older than it should. I am usually happy with Rain-X products so I tried this restoration kit. Total waste of money. The problem seems to be in the final sealer stage, that sealer is really just a greasy gel that when dry leaves the headlights back where they started. There was some improvement, but not enough to justify even the modest cost of this item. I have since used GlassyLite headlight restorer with great success. About the same price but a world of difference. It is here on amazon.com at a good price and really worth the effort you put in.

I've got a 98 Town & Country whose headlights were so fogged you couldn't tell if the headlights were on while driving. It was so bad that you couldn't see the lamps through the plastic covers. One of the lenses must have a leak in the seal because water gets inside when it rains. Despite knowing I'll eventually need to buy at least one lens (because of the leak), I bought the Rain-X brand headlight restoration kit to give it a try. It has a 5 step process... 3 grades of sandpaper, polishing compound and the final sealant (all included in the kit). I spent about 15-20 minutes doing both headlights. I wasn't sure that it was going to work. Even after using the polishing compound (4th of 5 steps) my lenses were still foggy. But once I used the final sealant the difference was amazing. Both headlight covers are crystal clear (with the exception of water droplets inside the bad lens cover, but even it is clear enough that it's usable). I wish I had done a before and after picture, it's truly amazing the difference that it has made. I have enough left over that I can probably do my other two cars. Find a nice shady spot on a warm, sunny day; grab a stool, a roll of paper towels, some glass cleaner (409, water, whatever to clean up between steps) and in half an hour you can clear up extremely foggy lens covers for much less than a shop would charge to do the work for you.

First, let me start by saying I spent 17 years in the automotive aftermarket parts industry. I've tried about five different brands of highlight restorers who claim theirs is the best. Rain-X is the only one that actually cleared up my 205 CRV Headlights. It is a five step system and it took me almost 90 minutes to do both sides, note that your times may vary dependent on the level of haze is on your headlights. You need to make sure you read very carefully each step. It will save you time in the long run. You can see the difference on the right side headlights in the photos (sorry I forgot to take a left headlight before photo). Therefore, I highly recommend this product along with a little elbow grease to clean up those nasty hazy headlights. One note, get some blue painters take and tape around your headlight or like in my case open the hood. The micro pads will take off paint. So mask around them headlights!! So why only four stars? Well the micro pads are small and again, depending on the level of haze on your headlights you might have to do it twice. You will have enough supplies to last a second time, but your pads will be worn out. And....as far as I can tell Rain-X doesn't sell them individually. So you need to buy another kit. Is that enough to knock a start off, well at the price of these kits, yes it is. I would like to have had two sets on the micro pads. That would make this Rain-X kit receive 5 Stars!
