I am unable to comment on the functionality of this 10 meter radio because my antenna is currently down, so I'm unable to transmit or receive with it. However, right out of the box there are several features I like already. First of all this is a full size mobile unit, not compact by any means. This is ideal for my particular liking as there is ample space on the front panel to operate the controls without mucking up other controls accidentally. Which is a problem with smaller units, especially while operating a vehicle. The display is pretty neat, I like the layout of the screen. It is not over the top with clutter, it's a rather simple design but displays all needed information without struggling through screen clutter. The digital readout is clear and easy to see, not overly bright. Has built in SWR, RF & signal strength meter. Displays both frequency and programmed channel simultaneously, which is a great feature. This radio has typical functionality, FM, AM, USB, LSB CW with a PA function and CTCSS/DCS with split tone functionality. Knobs and buttons are well placed, as mentioned there is space between the controls to easily manage while driving. Typical accessories are included, such as mounting hardware, microphone, fused power cable and mic bracket. The mic is rather chunky in the hand, but doesn't have much weight to it. It's rather light which is a slight drawback for me, I prefer to have a little weight in the mic. The mic buttons have a definitive click with a bit of spring tension, this is a plus as the buttons are less likely to be accidentally activated when resting the mic. The mic connector is a four pin thread on style. The knobs are firm as well, no slop or wobble. Several knobs are multi-functional. Back panel has CW jack and external speaker jack. The antenna connection is easily accessible with ample space adjacent to the heat sink. I can't yet comment of ease of programming. I will update my review once I have antenna up and running. But from what I see so far of this radio, it's a keeper. ... show more

I ordered the Radioddity QT30 30W SSB Mobile Amateur 10 Meter Radio for the Truck. This is a Beautiful, Easy to Use Powerful "Retro looking" Radio With a 4 Pin Side Mic on the Left & the 3 Pin Push-In Power Cable in the Rear Above the Speaker Jack & CW Keying Port. Also there is a Large Speaker on the Bottom, That Sounds Great! The Radioddity QT30 Radio Set Includes The Radio, Mic & Holder, Mounting Bracket, Fuses, Fasteners, & A Roughly 50" Long Power Cable. **Not Included in the Set is a Programming Cable Available Separately for use with the Free Radioddity Programming Software. The Radioddity QT30 10M Radio Easily Meets or Exceeds the Specs in the QT30 Listing. Power All the Way Left Puts out a Clean 2 Watts Across the Board, All the Way Right -> 40+ Clean Watts. The Large Heatsink Keeps the Radio Cool, Rattling Along on Long Rag Chews I have Never had it much more than Warm. The Mic Works Very Well. The Beautiful Display & Layout is Easy to See & Adjust, The Buttons & Controls are Super Smooth. I Love the Radioddity QT30 10M Radio, it Looks Like Radioddity Really Took The Time to Design a Modern Radio with all of the Features Available to Us today & Placed them into a Beautiful, Almost Retro Radio. Personnel Preference, 55+ Years on the Road, I Really Like my Radio's Mounted on the Bottom of the Map Case Where I Can See the Road & Radio, Not on The Dash or Below My Line of Sight. So, I honestly haven't had a CB in quite some time, but I honeslty would not have guessed they didn't include at least a built in short range antenna. These instructions literally say, using this radio without another antenna installed can result in damage to the unit. On top of that, it ONLY includes wiring for vehicle installation. It is not designed for stationary/home use. So, I guess the best I can tell you is the unit looks good. It supposedly has tons of nice features. I can't test them, because I don't currently have an antenna, but it claims too. It feels durable and includes most everything needed to mount it. Knobs and buttons all feel smooth and easy to use. I thought it might be a good (re)starter kit. But if you're going to try it, plan on getting an antenna as well and only using it in your vehicle. ... show more

This mobile radio is for people that really want to reach people far away. The 10-meter band (28-29.7 MHz) operates at a far lower frequency than other short-distance radios (UHF or VHF). AM amateur voice is part of the 10-meter band (in the 29.3-29.51 MHz range - note that this is different from commercial AM radio) and this is where this radio will mostly be operated (unless you are a morse code traditionalist). With the right conditions, 10-meter base stations can reach someone on the other side of the world (highly dependent on solar conditions and even high altitude clouds as the signal bounces in perfect conditions). Note that listening to the 10-meter can be done without a license, but transmitting requires a special FCC license (requiring not just payment but testing and a license of three different levels). While there is an exception for emergencies, this is strictly when there is an immediate threat of life and no other means of communications is possible. Realistically, this radio with a decent whip antenna should be able to communicate to a similar setup (e.g. truck to truck) at 10-30 miles. The same radio with a 40' antenna (obvious a base station, not on a truck) should hit other stations 50-100 miles away. This radio is a great value for money. Just be sure to be licensed before transmitting and share the airwaves. ... show more

The Radioddity QT30 is a solid 10-meter mobile radio that offers good value for the price. The 30W output gives it plenty of power for everyday use, while the SSB, AM, and FM modes make it versatile for different communication needs. The large LCD is easy to read, and features like the built-in SWR meter, ASQ, dual watch, and CTCSS/DCS are useful extras. I also like the TX/RX noise reduction, especially when using it in a truck where background noise can be an issue. Setup and controls are fairly straightforward, although it may take some time to get familiar with all the functions.
