AMAZON VINE Review of the RACQUA WATER SHOES I was particularly excited to see these RACQUA WATER SHOES available on AMAZON as I am planning for an extended scuba diving trip to Central America in 2025. I did the three stages of this trip in 1988 and have been wanting to do it again for 36 years. I was forty-two then. I am seventy-eight now, so IF I am ever going to repeat the time is NOW…well, early in 2025. The trip has three components. Time on a liveaboard dive boat doing offshore dives not usually visited by shore-based dive boats where these will be my boat shoes and excursion shoes as we visit offshore islands. I can also wear them with fins as we examine the many volcano debris fields both underwater and on land simply by removing the fins. Volcano debris fields require REAL shoes with REAL bottom soles and solid tread to survive the molten lava rock left behind eons ago. My time at the dive resort ashore includes boat dives every day and night, plus town visits to shop for local arts and crafts to take home, and shortcuts across beach sand too hot to walk on. I will also wear these shoes while I enjoy using the kayaks and bicycles that are available at the resort. These shoes are quick drying, breathable, comfortable, and equally important, REAL SHOES with a REAL SOLID TREAD SOLE. Non-Slip on a boat deck and safety from sand that is blazing hot AND I can safely walk into the water to cool both my shoes and my feet! By the time my final week begins I will have spent every day for three weeks doing multiple dives every day. It is ALWAYS safer to spend some continuous SURFACE TIME after extended diving days before getting on an airplane to fly home. Ending your dream scuba trip with “The Bends” (decompression sickness) is no one’s idea of a good finish. So, a week on the surface of the Earth in one of the most spectacular locales you can imagine…a tropical rainforest! My final week will be spent in the jungle of the rainforest. It is ALWAYS cloudy there because it is ALWAYS 100% humidity. I will spend that week photographing the spectacular birds and animals that populate the rainforest as my body slowly off-gases the accumulated nitrogen from weeks of continuous dives. The entire week in the bush will be spent with me, my clothes, and my RACQUA WATER SHOES perpetually wet. I will not be “dry” until I am in the filtered air of the aircraft taking me North. These RACQUA WATER SHOES will happily accommodate ALL my varied situations of geography, terrain, environment, and weather. They will experience continuous heat, moisture, mold spores, fungal attacks, and environmental conditions that would simply destroy other shoes, but these shoes will get a soapy wash and freshwater rinse then be left to air dry. And continue to protect my feet from WHATEVER is below them. This was an amazing trip when I did it the first time in 1988. I have had it on my agenda for the last thirty-six years and am eager to do it again. The last time I did this I wore canvas sneakers that sadly did not survive the month. The grommets that the laces fed through rusted and then were simply gone. The laces eventually tore through the canvas and that was that. My final days were spent wearing shower shoes. I have no such qualms at all about the RACQUA’s. THEY will be just fine! This AMAZON VINE Review of my RACQUA WATER SHOES is FIVE STARS! At the price, I wasn't expect a whole lot in terms of quality for this product. But what I came to find was that the shoe overdelivers in all areas. They look great and I got a number of compliments on them even when I was just wearing them as "I have to wear SOMEthing and I don't want to wear serious shoes" shoes. They are incredibly comfortable. The bottom is a hard enough sole that I can walk anywhere and the top is a durable sock-like fabric that feels just like wearing cozy socks. I have not had to run in them, but I feel like I definitely could if I had to. As far as I know they are fully waterproof. I would easily recommend these to anyone and would get them again.

I rarely buy shoes online due to sizing issues but these, being water shoes, caused no issues. The fit is true to size and they're extremely comfortable. The rubber bottom is thick enough to protect the foot but not so much to add more weight than you'd expect. The top is thin and comfortable. They fasten to your feet with a drawstring that does an excellent job of keeping them on when they're supposed to be on. It's a huge plus that they look as stylish as they do.

After trying them on, they actually feel really nice! They fit well. They're made of a thin material that will easily be able to dry out and let moisture evaporate from inside. My only real nitpick is that the strings are a little too long. Either way, I live next to a lake and I can't wait to try them out!
