  • Sanding required
I'm a machine builder with 30+ years experience, so no big deal to me. The bracket for the 2nd tier arms either had too thick of a coating, or the welding warped the U-channel and would not fit. Using a 120 grit nail file sandpaper, I removed the coating on the sides of the U-channel until it fit. If I didn't, the thin coating on the arm would have scratched and the plastic knob would probably come off of the threaded stud if forced together. Other than that, it went together fast and easy, sturdy enough to put my 216 pounds on it. I added a 5 foot board to fit everything. ... show more

  • Amazing, rock solid. Best stand in the game.
Amazing, 10/10. I literally got 3 of them, "second tier" can be flipped and added as a third tier if you have extras. ROCK solid. I have about $20,000 worth of heavy synth gear in three tiers on one of these and it is flawless. Only complaint is I can't seem to find "solo" second tiers, so I keep buying more of their stands and mixing/matching the "second tier" element. ... show more

  • Exactly what I was looking for.
I thought this stand would just unfold and lock in place but I am glad it's the type you have to screw into place because this thing is sturdy. The screws are not cheap because I have already move things around a lot and they are holding up just fine. The threads do not strip easily. This doesn't have the ugly labeling all over the knobs like the competitors. You pretty much forget it's even there since it hides from your view sitting at the keyboards. Like they say, it's not a heavy gigging stand because of the setup, but it sets up quickly nevertheless. It came quickly, and in perfect condition. I didn't even bother looking at the instructions because you almost can't get it wrong. There are very few parts to it. ... show more

  • Great stand has its limitations.
*Important! The BASE tier does NOT accommodate any standard 5-octave keyboard. There is no width adjustment to the base tier, only the top. The unit is well-made and very sturdy, but is probably more aptly suited for home/studio set-up as there is no quick way to dismantle it and too many loose parts (that may get lost or broken) Both bottom and top tiers adjust vertically. The adjustment knobs are smallish'. If the bottom keyboard is particularly deep (front-to-back) the mounting brackets for the 2nd-tier vertical arms must be mounted upside-down because the tightening knob will obstruct. Also, and of equal importance, if the bottom keyboard is thick (has height to it like a Nord C2, or Roland RD2000, this stand will not work as the highest adjustment for the top tier leaves little height clearance for the base keyboard. Photo shows 2 very-low profile keyboards and the clearance that remains. SUMMARY. For the CORRECT keyboards in the studio or home, this is a superb looking and sturdy stand. ... show more

  • Solid stand that's easy to setup
I use this stand with my Korg Kronos 88 and a Korg X5 on the second tier. The second tier is very adjustable, so you can postion your second keyboard just where you want it. I don't get any movement at all from this stand, even when playing hard. It is rock solid. There's lots of room underneath for pedals. I use a Behringer FCB1010, which takes up lots of space, and it easily fits under this stand with room to spare. Setup and breakdown is easy, although getting the height adjusted when it's completely setup can sometimes be a bit tricky. I make sure the height is already set, before I put it together. It doesn't pack up as neatly as other stands, but I'll trade that for the added stability any day. My one big criticism of this stand is that it doesn't go low enough for playing in the typical sitting position. I use a drum throne when I play sitting, and I need to raise it up quite a ways to get into a comfortable playing position. This doesn't really bother me, because I bought it mostly for live use, and I stand for that. However, it might be a problem for some people who typically sit when they play. ... show more

  • Using for mobile DJ use; works great.
Great stand; I modified mine a bit to turn it into my Mobile DJ table and it came out great. Suggestion: If you'll be breaking it down a lot, I suggest that you get a battery-powered impact drive and replace the hand-turn bolts with ones that you can drive (cap heads with allen or just hex heads) which I plan to do next week. The bolts are 3/8", 24tpi I believe. Open to correction on that if anyone says differently on the size. What I did here was get a desk top from Ikea's As-Is wood section ($5) and a white cabinet door from same ($3). The backsplash is a pine board, attached with the two cap-screws you see in the pic (after I put a small hole through the vertical support for the screw to pass through). The top is attached through 2 holes that I placed in the top, and then used the existing bolts for the unit that hold the upper support arms. Solid and tooless! ... show more

  • Solid Stand
A solid stand that doesn't move! I love it! I bought it for my Yamaha DGX650 because I travel so much with the keyboard and I got tired of bringing a screwdriver with me to take apart the stationary stand. If you're not familiar with the DGX, it's a pretty heavy keyboard with an extended depth (like a synth/workstation). It's around 16 inches from keys to the back panel. It fits perfectly on the stand without being too deep or hanging off. I put a plank of wood on the 2nd tier to hold 2 midi keyboards, an interface, and my laptop. It hold everything without moving in the slightest. If I had to find a con, it would be that it is just a touch high. I almost always use it seated, and the lowest setting is about an inch higher than the average piano. My bench is adjustable, so I just raised it a little and now it's fine, but that might be something to note. ... show more
