As others stated the “Brown” is really cognac when referencing the seat portion. The legs and underside of the bench are indeed glossy brown. This bench is NOT wood but MDF or something similar. But for under $100, it’s mostly acceptable and sturdy enough to hold me and my kid for piano practice. For assembly, make sure to raise/extend the seat out about 10 cranks/turns so you have enough room to install the legs. I saw another review where they had trouble installing the legs from going in correctly because the seat was flush to the underside of the bench. Also, assembly goes smoother when you use a 17mm (or 11/16th) socket wrench rather than the cheap metal wrench they provide. Inside the bench there’s a locking arm when you open it and about 1.5inches deep of storage space. I appreciate the upholstered black felt inside. Overall, It’s okay for under $100 and mostly matches my piano. Functional and doesn’t break the bank. Has its quirks but I’m not trying to spend $200+ for a more solid name brand chair that my kids will eventually wreck.

The bench is good looking bench. However, when the seat is raised , it is not steady and the person seated is resting on the bar in the middle of the bench. It leans to the front -and in my case, broke.

This bench is not comfortable and not durable. None of our piano students like sitting on this bench. And because the legs are not real wood, the bolts at each corner slowly back out of the fake wooden legs. Thus, you must keep the wrench handy to stop the wobble. I am sure the bolts will eventually pull out of the fake wood and make the bench unusable. Look for a bench from a reputable manufacturer. Or if you think this is still a good price, plan on repurchasing often and add a cushion topper to your order.

The bench is definitely a budget option but it is absolutely exactly what you expect it to be. One caution is that the legs are not exact lengths and you may be best off if this is resting on a soft surface like a carpet that can compensate for tiny differences in the lengths of the legs.

A very good option for those of us who can't afford a Jensen soloist stools. Easy to assemble, but use a better wrench than the one provided. No squeaking or wobbling. Easy adjustments - not as finely accurate as a Jensen, but not too far off either. I'm a big guy and this provides a comfortable, supportive seat from which to play. I like it
