The bristles on the original rotating roller on our Dyson V10 Animal were worn down and degrading the pickup power. This power head replacement kit came with two rollers. I thought of placing the second roller into the old power head. I discovered that the original Dyson roller is 1/16 of an inch longer than the two that came with this kit - it didn't fit. That prompted me to take a close look at the two power heads to compare the construction and materials. I weighed each power head on a package scale without a roller installed. The original Dyson unit weighs 1 pound, 8 ounces. The new power head unit weighs 1 pound, 3.2 ounces. I began to inspect where the 5 ounces of weight were dropped from the new power head. I took a photo with the two power heads next to each other with an “Original” sign under the old one. The drive mechanism is different. I saw a thin white wire on each unit running to the end of the drive unit. It appears that the shafts displayed in the photo drive the roller with an internal motor. The ball joint where the unit connects to the long pole looks identical in design and weight. The clear cover that wraps over the front of the unit appears to be just a smidge thicker on the original Dyson unit. The Dyson unit has an adjustment on the front lip that opens up two small vents (see the photo). The indication from the sticker on the unit is that the openings, when open, permit sucking up larger debris. The photo with the Original sign shows the back lip on the Dyson has a rubber surface. The photo of the new power head shows that the back lip is a vertical strip of vinyl. I used the vacuum on a section of carpet with each power head to feel for any differences. The Dyson unit’s extra five ounces was noticeable but not by much. The sound from each unit was similar. A new power head direct from Dyson is over twice the price of this unit. From what I can tell so far, this power head performs comparably for its job. Since the motor in the power head is the critical component, only time will tell if this new unit holds up as well as the original Dyson power head. In the meantime, the floors are still getting cleaned!

Dyson's head is superior. Unfortunately, it's insanely priced. This head does not pick up larger particles on the floor.

I have a Dyson V8 cordless vacuum, and my son thought it was a good idea to keep slamming the head of this vacuum into the walls trying to get under the baseboards. So, needless to say, that attachment broke and I was in the market for a new one and did not want to have to spend hundreds on a whole new vacuum. Especially since I love this one. I came across this attachment and it said it was compatible with my V8 so I figured I would give it a try. This is a perfect fit! It saved me money from having to replace my vacuum and it works even better than the original attachment. This replacement comes with a V10 roll to put into the attachment to make it compatible with the V10 as well. It also comes with a nifty little tool to help you cut away any hair that gets tangled in the roller and brush to clean it off too. I recommend giving this a shot before spending way too much money replacing an already expensive vacuum. Happy Cleaning!!

This is virtually identical to the part that came with my Dyson V11. It works the same and is very effective with vacuuming bare floors, low-pile and high-pile rugs. The materials are very durable, as well. For those who didn't receive this when purchasing a Dyson, this is an excellent choice to save money versus the Dyson brand. Super recommended!!

Unfortunately; it barely vacuums on carpet. It turns off after a moment of touching the carpet regardless of what power it's on. It did fit perfectly with my Dyson knock off. It was easy to attach but definitely better on hard floors and not if you are looking to use on carpet or area rugs or even door mats .

The media could not be loaded. Right out of the box, it looks identical to the original brands attachment. It came with a second brush barrel. Sturdy build quality, fits quickly and perfectly onto the vacuum, and slides very smoothly on the floor. Definitely worth it if you clean a lot! I didn’t even realize how loud the old one had become.
