At their current price of under 350/pair, these are an absolutely incredible value. I got them with the 3020 bookshelves and 3090 center and was really pleased at their detail and overall presence. I'm still going to add a subwoofer, but the bass is much more full than I was expecting. It's a bit muddy on the low end, but I feel like that's an acceptable compromise for this price. My biggest criticism is with the feet--they're a bit difficult to adjust to get the speakers leveled, and even then the whole setup feels a bit less stable than I'd like, especially if you've got young kids around. Overall though, these are an excellent option for the budget-conscious shopper and I think they'll be awfully hard to beat at this price point. ... show more

Quick review for those thinking about it. These are the real deal. Speakers arrived in perfect condition and they sound great. Big thanks to Amazon, World Wide Stereo, and the very convincing WhatHiFi article. Of course, a complete review will have to wait until they're broken in. But for now, it's impossible to resist closeout pricing on the 3000 series. Q Acoustics has got my attention with their design and engineering. After initial break-in: These are livelier, more detailed, and better balanced than my old speakers. Modern speaker design has come a long way the last few years. I'm understanding what is meant by subtlety, attack, and drive. These are going to do me. For reference purposes, I'm driving these with the Denon PMA-600NE and Onkyo C-07030. My first move was to the Elac Debut B6.2 which was an ear-opener. And then I thought to try floorstanders at this bargain price. The 3050 is even better but of course, much larger. ... show more

I bought these for few reasons. 1. Wanting to try something different. 2. The sensitivity is 92db. I plan on using them with lower powered amplifiers. In the family room in the basement. Once completed 3. Right now they are super discounted at Amazon at $168.99 each. Right out of the box they are exceptional. I’m assuming they’ll sound even better once they’ve had a chance to go through the break in process. At the current price you should jump on a pair. As always this is only one man’s opinion. I bought these to use primarily for listening to old-school media, vinyl, cd et al. I also purchased them to replace vintage speakers (‘74 Advent Model 1’s) which take up space. I wanted the quickness of modern speakers as well. I power them with a Yamaha AS501. They have a very detailed and precise sound, however bass response is a little less than I would’ve anticipated. It gets a little better at higher volume, but that’s to be expected. I’m not dissatisfied at all. The build quality is super! I think the addition of an appropriate subwoofer, perhaps a Deftech super cube, will round out the sound, but again, one of my goals was free up some floor space. To be certain, there are cheaper speakers out there, I wouldn’t buy them. These speakers really deliver the highs, mids and low-mids. On certain recordings, you won’t notice anything missing. Leo Kottke’s live Crow River Waltz Medley comes across like I’m sitting in the audience, but acoustic guitars sit in that mid frequency range. I have no interest in 5.1 and I was hoping for a great 2-channel experience, so I don’t know how they perform as a home theatre component. If you’re thinking about these as a 2-channel setup, think 2.1. Having had these for well I’ve a year, I’d like to say that breaking them in is essential. They sound better after they have opened up, particularly in regards to bass response. ... show more

    • Clear, deep and powerful...just what I was looking for.
Just got these speakers today and am already enjoying immensely. Very wide and deep soundstage and good coverage from bass to treble. These are a definite step up from the Magnepan MMG's and two or three steps up from the ELAC B6's that I've recently had in my system. They have nice synergy with the Rogue Sphinx integrated amp in my two channel system. For two channel music, I don't think a subwoofer is required...maybe for movies if that's your reason for purchasing. I like the looks, too. Edit (July 17): Got about 80 hours on the 3050's and all is even better. Sound stage is wide and deep for my music taste (jazz, classical and light rock). Also, I decided to give bi-wiring a try since these speakers are set up for that. I've always been sort of skeptical about bi-wiring, but since I had extra wire on hand I had nothing to lose. Nothing fancy, just two sets of Blue Jeans 14 ga. to each speaker. In my setup, made everything clearer and more well-defined. My setup is two channel only, so cannot comment on any benefits for home theater usage. For the money, you would be hard-pressed to find better performance than these speakers. Edit (December 27). Just had my six-month anniversary with the 3050's and they sound better than ever in my two-channel setup. I estimate that they have about 500 hours or so on them and the sound has really settled in at a consistent level. Bass is extended and tight; highs are crisp and clear with no trace of hardness; mids are just right - well balanced and taut. I know there are better speakers out there, but you'd be challenged to find one at this price/value level. Edit (March 8, 2018). Better than ever...I've forgotten about them, which is a good thing. They just play music in two channel without drawing attention to themselves, which is the ultimate goal of every audio component I would think. Nice value for money. Well built. Just got today so not broken in but sound good already. Think they will be a good upgrade from my aged KEF Q1’s and subwoofer. The Q Acoustics are more balanced, with highs not as peaky as the KEF’s. Seller was great. Product arrived as scheduled and in great condition.
