    • Solidly made ruler set with locking slide
This ruler set is well made and easy to use. The body of the ruler is a rectangular piece of aluminum approximately 2 mm thick. It's well coated in what appears to be a blue anodized or powder coating. The slide doesn't move extremely smoothly due to the coating, but it's not difficult to slide it to the position you want. Once in position, the two thumbscrews hold it firmly in place. Functionally, this is everything that you can expect a ruler to do and the build quality is reasonable for the price point. ... show more

These scales are not too bad, I like the standard and metric on other side which is convenient. Comparing to other scales which I know are accurate, these are spot on. But these are screen printed, not laser etched. So they will eventually wear off, and they may be accurate but are hindered by the printing in readability because of the excess "slop" from having ink printed on vs laser etching the metal. Additionally the 3 sizes aren't needed. I would have preferred a 6,12,24in pack as that would have been a lot more useful. These are 3 sizes way too close to each other, normally I'd want a 6in but these are large scales. So in a 6in size it's unwieldy for small work, making the 6in here pretty useless. The 12in will get the most use I expect ... show more

I like the locking slide on the ruler which will be helpful for scribing a line using the little notch in the end. It will be useful for evenly spacing things. For repetitive measurements. The color is great and easy to read numbers. They are woodworker's tools, not machinist tools although I can see uses for both. I like the three sizes which will be handy for tight spaces. I can think of so many uses for these measuring tools. A nice design. ... show more

I really want to say this set is great, and they certainly look like the more expensive brands, but as is apparent in the pictures, it's impossible to be very accurate at all. My caliper reads the distance digitally as 1.002 inches, while the scale on the blade indicates 31/32. Such an inaccuracy isn't tolerable, so I wouldn't recommend this item. ... show more

    • A really nice set of rulers. Geared more towards the shop than the drafting table.
I took drafting lessons at university back when it was done with pencil and paper instead of CAD/CAM on a computer. As a result I have a large collection of rulers of various kinds. Most of these are plastic, which is fine for their intended use. These metal rulers are geared more towards the shop than the drafting table. Metal has a definite advantage in this environment because of the abuse shop tools receive. To that end these rulers are so far working out really well. The 9-inch (well, they call it 8-inch) gets the most use and so far is holding up well to drops and other things that happen in shops. Highly recommended! ... show more

    • Good quality, accurate and sturdy
I used these for the first time yesterday, after many years of just using a simple combination square and I must say that I'm impressed. I put them to use making half-lap joints and they worked extremely well for measuring out the areas to be removed as well as for ensuring that the cuts were made to the correct depth. The markings are easy to read and have good contrast with the white ink against the blue background. The bad thing here is that they're printed on, rather than etched so depending on how much use they see, the markings will eventually begin to wear off. The slide stop moves smoothly and easily when needed and is easy to set into place using the two thumb screws, but I did have one instance where it slipped while I was taking a depth measurement. I may not have tightened it down as much as I thought, because it only happened the one time, so I'm not taking away any points for that. Bottom line: If, like me, you've never tried dedicated wood working tools, but always used generic tools (like a combination square), this will be a step up. They're not the greatest quality, but they'll get the job done for an average hobbyist. ... show more

I LOVE these rulers. I picked them up on an impulse but they've quickly become my go-to rulers for all woodworking and other light duty tasks around the house. For starters, I LOVE that they have both metric and imperial units. My preference is metric, so a big win there. They also look and feel AWESOME. The bright white font pops against the metallic blue aluminum (see pics), making them VERY easy to read. Speaking of the aluminum, I can't tell if its anodized or some other form of powder coating, but regardless it looks great and doesn't look to fade any time soon. The rulers FEEL great, too. They have the perfect amount of grip to hold tight but not enough to be a nuisance when you need to move them. Same story with the slides -- grippy but not clingy. The slide-screws are also ribbed to make it easy to grab and twist with gloves or bare oil-covered hands, a much appreciated feature. I tested the ruler thickness with a carpenter pencil by drawing some lines and walked away pleased -- everything worked as intended. The rulers lay flush against the surface and are thin enough that my pencils didn't have any problem making fine accurate lines (see pics). Given the price and their functionality relative to the more expensive brands, I'd say these are fantastic and you shouldn't think twice about picking them up as daily drivers, or at worst backups to your primes. I'm thrilled to have picked these up and gladly recommend them to anyone looking to make a personal purchase, or even as a gift or stocking-stuffer to the handy-person in your life. Whatever the case, you need not be a woodworker to enjoy using these - they're good enough to make anyone feel special when using them. ... show more
