Let’s be real: When I bought diet dog food, I fully expected my dog, to stage a hunger strike. I mean, who wants to eat diet food when the usual menu resembles a carnivore’s buffet at a steakhouse? But let’s just say, the dog had other plans. To my absolute shock, he dove into that bowl like it was his job. I half expected him to look up and burp out a “Thanks, mate!” Watching him chow down on these “meat-flavored” pellets was like witnessing a culinary magic trick. Apparently, the dog who could sniff out a low-fat treat from a mile away had left the building. And post-meal? he doesn’t slump onto his bed in a food coma; he’s more active and energetic, chasing squirrels with the gusto of a dog half his age and double his metabolism. Is it possible that this diet food isn’t just a sad substitute but actually… delicious? Either that or he is planning the long con to get his paws on more treats. I have been buying this dog food for my fur babies for over 6 years now. My dogs absolutely love it! Not only does it have great ingredients, but it also helps manage their weight. One of my dogs would keep eating it if I would let her. They absolutely love the dehydrated pieces of chicken mixed in with the kibble pieces. I would recommend this dog food. This bag weights 34 lbs. and is rather heavy for me to haul home by myself. Amazon subscription service allows me to purchase it cheaper than I could at the grocery or pet store and then delivers it to my door step free of charge. It comes in many different formula's such a Sensitive Stomach, Weight Management, and many others. I usually buy the Weight Management formula, because my dogs are no longer puppies and I am concerned about them maintaining a healthy weight. This dog food is jammed packed full of healthy ingredients too, because the first ingredient listed on the label is CHICKEN. My vet says, the first ingredient is the one of the most IMPORTANT and it is also what the bag has the MOST of. Start reading the other labels out there and you will be surprised at how many of them list CORN as the first ingredient, and then lies to the consumer saying it is a healthy dog food, when it's NOT. Purina's Beneful has over 229 Complains lodged against it for marketing it as a HEALTHY dog food to unsuspecting consumers. This was taken from an article posted in the "Dogingtonpost.com". The first ingredient in Purina's Beneful is CORN which raises your dogs blood sugar, provides little nutritional value to your dog and is not easily digested by dogs. The next ingredient Chicken by-product meal, which is the WASTE after the good parts of the chicken have been removed. This is the feet, beaks, undeveloped eggs, & organs. (None of this is fit for human consumption, and it's not healthy for your pet either). In the human food industry, there are laws against calling something healthy when it's not. There are regulations against deceitful packaging and out right lies to consumers. Unfortunately, there are no such laws & regulations in the dog food industry. Fortunately, the Purina Pro Plan Series is truly healthy dog food for our beloved pets. You can buy this particular product with confidence and know that you are providing your dog with what he needs to have a good balanced diet, strong teeth and bones and to over all be healthy and happy. ... show more

We switched to Purina Pro Plan years ago, after our pup had problems with another major brand. After using ProPlan Adult formula, and having 2 toddlers dropping plenty of snacks for our pups, our vet wanted us to switch to a diet friendly brand. We stuck with ProPlan but went to this formula instead. Our dogs are both back in the healthy weight range and are doing so well (even with toddlers dropping snacks all the time). ... show more
