My dog really likes this food. I also purchase the dry Salmon & Rice and mix in a half of canned food for my dogs dinner. His itching has all but stopped and I attribute it all to this food. I'm a little concerned now because I'm having a hard time finding just the Salmon & Rice canned food, all I see at my retailer, Tractor Supply, is a sealed carton of 12 cans, 6 of the Salmon & Rice and 6 Lamb & Oatmeal. I'm very leary of using that different food, but I'll try it. If my dog doesn't like it, I may need to switch to something else.

I have always looked down a bit on Purina products thinking they were a little cheap. However, this particular food gets recommended by veterinarians many times over and again, in the Facebook group that I belong to that has many vets suggesting diets. I need a food without any chicken for one of my dogs who is allergic to it and I tried many expensive brands trying to find a non chicken dry food. I do top my dogs bowls with homemade food over the kibble but this is a fantastic base and my three dogs happily eat this plain. My one dog with the easily upset stomach and allergy to chicken looks excellent finally eating this food. My other two always looked great but they enjoy this food and its economical so I only have to purchase one.

My dog still scratches incessantly, but finally we found wet food with zero poultry. It gives her nasty gas, but most things do. The other Purina Beyond wet food with salmon, cod and whitefish has chicken broth in it so if your dog is allergic to poultry like mine, don't use that one. Note: as a vet tech, let me tell you, many dogs are sensitive to poultry. If they scratch, itch, bite themselves, have red paws, red skin, etc and you're sure they're not flea infested, remove poultry from their diet completely. Check labels- everything has chicken! Especially treats! Turkey is also the same, so NO POULTRY products. Try salmon, or lamb.

My 9 lb chihuahua mix rescue has a sensitive tummy with a lot of diarrhea. I switched him to this food and added a probiotic to his diet, and the combination of both seem to have helped. He doesn't go crazy for it and he'd probably always prefer table scraps but he seems perfectly happy eating it. I add a little bit of freeze dried beef liver, freeze dried turkey, and/or freeze dried chicken kibble to the top of his food. Overall I'd definitely recommend giving this a shot if you're looking for an affordable sensitive stomach formula!

Pup was having some “tummy” issues so the vet recommending switching him to this dog food, which is why I bought it. The absolutely worse smelling dog food I can remember smelling. Thankfully, the pup liked it and ate it with no issues. It seemed to help his issue better than his prior long time dog food, so while not a miracle cure, I would say it was a noticeable difference with the digestive issues he was having. If you have a need for this type of specialized food for your pup, and you can stand the horrible smell, odds are it will be an option worth trying.
