  • Dog AND Cat Approved
Flavor Name: Limited Ingredient Chicken Size: 24 lb. Bag
The media could not be loaded. First off, the ingredients in this dog food are wholesome. The majority of dog food out there is made up mainly of cornmeal and wheatmeal with only a small percentage of real meat for protein in them. Dogs need meat as the base of their food, not these low quality grains. Our lab pitbull has been gaining weight since feeding him foods based on those cheap ingredients. He was becoming lethargic and had no energy on top of that. We decided that for his best interests we would begin to feed him better quality foods like this one. As you can see in the ingredient list, the first ingredient is chicken. I feel better about giving him this because I know he is receiving what his body needs instead of filling him up with junk. As you can see in my video, the cat is jealous. The dog approves and likes the taste. Here is a picture with my hand against the bag so you can see the size comparison for the 24 pound bag. ... show more

  • Smells good and my dog ate it up!
Flavor Name: Limited Ingredient Chicken Size: 24 lb. Bag
My dog is very picky about new food and so is his system. Frequently, new food will either get left in his bowl or he has to run outside after a while because he does not feel well. Knowing this, I have been very particular about keeping him on a consistent diet. This food arrived and I help my breath as I opened the bag because some of the hard food smells terrible. Not this one, there was a very light, pleasing smell. I took out a handful and put it in his bowl. My hand was not covered with crumbs like his current food nor did my hand smell like "dog food". At this point, I am starting to hope that he will love this food so I can switch. My dog ate this food immediately. Usually, if I leave the kitchen after filling his bowl, he follows me and goes back to eat later. Not this time. He never looked up. He ate all of the food at once. It was apparently gentle on his system because he did not ask to go outside immediately after finishing. My dog is "small" he weighs 17 pounds and the food pieces are the perfect size. About the size of a jelly bean. My dog has been eating this food for several days now and we are both convinced that when this bag is gone, I will buy more. ... show more

  • My dogs definitely like this food from Purina!
Flavor Name: Limited Ingredient Chicken Size: 24 lb. Bag
I used to buy my dogs Purina ProPlan for many years before switching to other brands offering grain-free formulas. My dogs love trying new types of food and pretty much anything that sounds healthy and made from quality ingredients I'll let them decide. Since my dogs are fairly picky I was pleased that this food appeased them. I also noticed that it must've made them feel just as full as their regular food because they weren't begging for extra treats later. It might be difficult to tell the exact thoughts that our pets have or be able to tell how their food tastes (because I'm not going to try it) but I can see that my dogs are just as happy with this food as they have been trying other Purina products in the past. We'll definitely continue to consider it when we're getting more dog food in the future! ... show more

  • Not grain-free but good results and high pup appeal
Flavor Name: Limited Ingredient Chicken Size: 24 lb. Bag
Normally I steer clear of Purina foods since they often contain a fair amount of less than desirable ingredients (although they are also pretty reasonable in price). I wanted to try this limited ingredient version to see if it's a decent alternative to some higher priced, but high-quality ingredient, foods. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the way the pups took to it as well as how they did with regard to stomach/digestive issues. No significant problems on either issue. The ingredient list is decent, but does contain a good amount of grains (rice, barley, oat meal) as well as chicken meal and canola meal. Plain chicken is the first ingredient. It's not a stellar ingredient list but it's a big change from the usual Purina foods, and what I would consider to be an above average ingredient list. The price is very reasonable for an above average food. The kibble size is fine for small to medium size dogs, but not ideal for large dogs. The smell is not bad at all (to my human nose) and the kibble doesn't break apart in the bag, avoiding having lots of kibble dust get all over. All in all, it's an above average food at a reasonable price. ... show more

  • Good Food for your Furbaby
Flavor Name: Limited Ingredient Chicken Size: 24 lb. Bag
Quick breakdown: Pros: affordable big bag for medium to large dogs, has ingredients my vet agrees with, my dog likes it, mixes well with wet food for the picky eaters, bag is not paper so doesn't tear easily, no stomach issues, easily chewed by my dog, maintains her weight well, coat is shiny and healthy cons: I wish the bag was bigger but that really isn't a con. I love Purina one food, we have been consistently feeding it to our senior heeler for over a year now. This limited ingredient food is easy for her to chew, is a flavor she seems to enjoy and is a price I find affordable. My dog has not experienced any stomach issues or loose stools with it, she eats the kibble with no problems even being in her senior years. She is maintaining a healthy weight and a pretty coat. ... show more

  • Dogs Love It
Flavor Name: Limited Ingredient Chicken Size: 24 lb. Bag
The dogs really love it, so I guess that's good. I found the bag almost impossible to open without tools. It seems odd that there were no directions for opening it. It's also apparently not resealable. Opening and resealing are modern conveniences that Hill's Science Diet has perfected of late, and I'd like to see Purina follow suit. I mean, we're not barbarians, are we? Having to reseal our dog food with improvised methods like some kind of savages? Aside from that irritation, it appears to be good stuff. I found it to be a little sour and not as salty as some, with a pretty good mouth feel and texture. The way my dogs gobbled it up, I don't think they noticed the texture. So, it gets an A for taste and a C for packaging, for an average score of B. ... show more
