For us these were a low-cost solution to our French door problem. We wanted something that looked good when retracted, and would provide privacy at night and block the sun when needed. But since the doors open into the room, we couldn’t have any “apparatus” at the top of the window since it would block the door opening. This curtain is held in place by an adhesive strip and Velcro. Both the adhesive and the Velcro are substantial so they hold the curtain in place. We had an existing flat curtain rod which we could attach the adhesive to so that makes our arrangement a bit unusual. Without that rod, we would have just attached it to the door. One concern with that approach is, if you were to remove the adhesive strip, you might strip any paint or finish from the wood since the adhesive seems quite strong as it needs to be. The curtain looks really nice when it is in the “up” position. However, when it’s down, it doesn’t have a neat, finished look. It comes very wrinkled so I did press the curtain before installation. Even with that, it looks wrinkled (from the photo you’ll see we need to work on getting the curtain straight but that’s our issue). Since we only intend to keep the curtain down occasionally, it’s more important that it blocks the sun and provides privacy, both of which it does.

I love these curtains, which thankfully came with two. They are easy to install. All you have to do is attach the Velcro above the window and stick the curtain on. You don't need to screw anything or attach a curtain rod. This makes it very convenient. You can also roll it up and use the attachments to hold the rolled-up curtains in place in order to let the sun in. Elsewise, it blacks out everything. The navy blue wasn't very deep. It is closer to royal blue than navy, so the color is a little off compared to the rest of my curtains. However, they are all in different parts of the house, so this isn't that big of a deal, and I love the color anyway. The only issue I had is with the adhesion. The glue on the Velcro wasn't that strong. I eventually got it to stay up, but it took some time and I had to hold it on for a bit. If the glue were better, it would be perfect.
