  • Will Run On Natural Gas without further conversion kit
Just want to share some information. I was replacing a Briggs 6500/5000 loud generator that I had a tri-fuel conversion kit for. We have nat gas to our house and after hurricane Sandy with hours-long gas lines, nat gas is a never ending supply ostensibly. After 11 years figured time for an upgrade and compared all available and settled on this Pulsar. No problem unpacking, connecting batt, and toiled to put together a nat gas regulator and all the needed fittings etc to add a T fitting after the internal propane regulator before the carb. Well, found that wasn't working so instead figured why not try simply running a nat gas feed right into the 3/8" flare M port on the front of the gen. Lo and behold, no gas leakage when off (as described on youtube vids) and she sparked up when cranked. After testing a number of times (cold / hot starts etc) did find it a bit difficult to start on a regular basis from cold. Tried gapping the spark plug down to about .018 vs the default .04 or so but made no difference [fyi the ignition temp for gas is about 500 degF but nat gas is about 1000]. So then reasoned that the cylinder may need to 'warm up' so now my MO is to start the gen on gas for a minute or so, stop then restart using nat gas feeding the propane port and that works fine. So far, about 2 hours run time, haven't had any issues with start button/solenoid etc . It's certainly less noisy at about 62 db idle at about 25 ft compared to the Briggs which was closer to 74, and both ramp up from there under load. Also the tone is a much more palatable than the Briggs. Very portable and liftable a bit at a time at just over 100 lbs. So far so good. ... show more

  • You get what you pay for
The media could not be loaded. First things first. Yes, I've read the manual cover-to-cover. There's little to no troubleshooting advice beyond the common mechanical issues (dirty carb, spark plug, low oil, etc). My problem is likely the starter solenoid. This thing is CHEAP. Yes it's quiet and the smallest generator you're going to find that runs 30 amp 240v... when it works. Let's be honest, it appeals to you because it's 80% cheaper than a Honda 30amp propane generator. The remote start/ push button start has stopped working after 2 days, and most places won't let you return used generators (Amazon included). Maybe I'll just pull start it? Nope. There's no way to even confirm it's in "run" mode. When I push the start button, a few things click and nothing happens. I have no doubt the starter, carb, spark plug etc are all good- it's all the bells and whistles ruining this thing. Its got a lot of sensors (CO sensor, low oil shutoff sensor) that might appeal to you- if they dont fail. So I try to take the front panel off so I can bypass a few- stripped screws... by hand! All that said, I was able to run power tools (Miter saw and circular saw) for 2 days with it and had no complaints. The remote start was nice to have while wiring inside and testing appliances of an off-grid building. It's also very quiet, you can sit on it and have a conversation. I'm close to throwing the whole front panel away and wiring the outlets and main cutoff switch to a piece of wood with an ignition key. Update: Amazon ended up refunding me without taking the return. 5 stars for Amazon, 2 stars for Pulsar since they got back to me after a week and mailed a solenoid out. (Common defect apparently) Update 2: I wired a 20 amp starter switch directly to the starter and use it as a backup now. I ordered $6 Amazon solenoid and that did the trick for the push button to work again. If the motor has warmed up, I can pull start it, but if it's cold for some reason I can't get it to start that way- and I pull start my 700cc ATV all the time. ... show more

  • Easy setup but oil change messy
Reasonably quiet, easy to start. Oil change takes forever to drain due to small opening. First change messy but that was because I thought I could speed process by removing dipstick to vent crankcase. Big mistake on my part. Like the remote start feature. Seems pretty efficient even with A/C running. Good performance fir money. ... show more

  • The best
I bought this generator for my business and before buying it.. I read the comments and stars that buyers vote for this generator. The stars are very low and the comments are very imperfect..... but for me this generator is the best... and I guarantee it 100 percent... I have tried this generator for 3 days using it in commercial work with many electronic devices how as heaters, painting machines, in many lights and vacuum cleaners, cutting saws and electric drills and it is a perfect machine, it does not lose power, there are comments Negatives about this generator but for me it is perfect, economical and very quiet, thanks Pulzer and thanks Amazon, I recommend it, it is perfect ... show more

  • Review updated, only ran for about an hour before dying and not starting back up.
Well, I guess I should have waited to write my review until I used it for more than testing. Generator ran on propane for about 45 minutes, then shut off. It restarted easily with the remote, and ran another 15 minutes and shut off again. It started back up with remote again, and shut off after about 10 minutes. It was outside in the open so wasnt the carbon monoxide shut off, and it was a full 40 gallon propane tank. I switched over to gas, and had a half full tank. It never started. The battery ended dying from me trying to start it with the start button, so I tried pull starting it and still would not start. It has sta-bil fuel stabilizer in it to keep the fuel fresh, and I have started it and let it run for about 5 minutes once a month. It is only 4 months old, but of course out of the return window. I will be calling Pulsar first chance I get. Update: Called Pulsar was told to take it to the nearest repair shop. So of course I had to load it up and take it myself. That would not be a problem if the unit was older and used a decent amount. I am not satisfied at all with the generator and asked if they would just come pick it up and refund my money, but the rep said it needs to be diagnosed first. Again, this does not seem like the best practice for a generator that was used a little more than an hour and died. Will keep updating as I get more information. ... show more
