  • Excellent performing 7250W/6000W class generator Excellent performing 7250W/6000W class generator
Pattern Name: Electricity Generator
I was shopping for a mid-size watt dual fuel generator and I found a great one. Sold and delivered by Amazon, this is one of the few generators that can be returned withing the 30 day period. ( verified by Amazon ). Reading some of the reviews on this generator gave me some concern , however since it was returnable ( with free Amazon pickup) I thought I would give it a try. This generator has all of the features I was searching for. !! Pulsar which is based in California produces lots of electrical generating products and has an excellent customer support group who has quickly responded back to me about a few detailed questions about this PGDA70BISCO 7250W dual fuel generator. Asking if they had more technical information, they immediately sent me the detailed parts breakout and a complete schematic of this generator. Doing my research, Pulsar has a technology sharing arrangement with Honda who makes excellent generators ( I have the Honda 2200W inverter generator for almost 8 years ) and this generator has some very familiar parts and layout ! This generator has 20Ax2 standard 120VAC GFI outlets, 1 30A 120/240V 4 pin outlet, and one other 30A 120V RV type plug. The status monitor assembly is very bright and all necessary status information is clearly visible and rotates in sequence. There are other status LEDs : power-on, overload, low oil, gas 25, 50, 75 & 100% level, as well as the CO detector fault LED. Over the past month, I have completed the 5 hour break-in period ( with various loads ) , and have run this generator on both Gas and LP. When using LP, most generators will start quickly, however when you first fill the gas tank , or when the Gas has been drained for storage, it takes most generators quite a bit of start time initially. The Pulsar started within 2 seconds the first time I filled it up with gas !! I repeated that test after I drained the tank and the carburetor ( procedure for storage ), and It again immediately started ! Not many generators except my expensive Honda inverter will do that ! All of the power sockets were checked under full load, and the low idle feature functioned flawlessly with varying loads. Output voltage remained constant, frequency and harmonic distortion we all within specifications! When the voltage selector is in the 240V output, the 4 blade L14-30R socket had 240VAC and YES 120VAC was on the designated 120V sockets !! As Specified !! Oil and gas drains are easy to get to and both have connected drain hoses which makes it easy to change the oil and drain all the gas out of the system when going into season storage ! The LIFEPO4 battery is also easy to get to and has a standard SAE connector to un-plug the battery for storage as well. You can pull the manual starter or use the fully automatic starting system which works very well. Pixs are enclosed ! As you can tell , I really impressed with this specific Pulsar generator, it's very powerful but quiet, will run on Gas or LP, Maintenace is very easy and quickly accessible, and meets or beats all published specifications. Both price and performance clearly rates 5 stars. I have only had this generator for 1 month , however it has been exercised every day and has been " drug around " and has survived some tough test loads during this test month without ANY problems !! ... show more

  • You get what you pay for
Pattern Name: Electricity Generator
First things first. Yes, I've read the manual cover-to-cover. There's little to no troubleshooting advice beyond the common mechanical issues (dirty carb, spark plug, low oil, etc). My problem is likely the starter solenoid. This thing is CHEAP. Yes it's quiet and the smallest generator you're going to find that runs 30 amp 240v... when it works. Let's be honest, it appeals to you because it's 80% cheaper than a Honda 30amp propane generator. The remote start/ push button start has stopped working after 2 days, and most places won't let you return used generators (Amazon included). Maybe I'll just pull start it? Nope. There's no way to even confirm it's in "run" mode. When I push the start button, a few things click and nothing happens. I have no doubt the starter, carb, spark plug etc are all good- it's all the bells and whistles ruining this thing. Its got a lot of sensors (CO sensor, low oil shutoff sensor) that might appeal to you- if they dont fail. So I try to take the front panel off so I can bypass a few- stripped screws... by hand! All that said, I was able to run power tools (Miter saw and circular saw) for 2 days with it and had no complaints. The remote start was nice to have while wiring inside and testing appliances of an off-grid building. It's also very quiet, you can sit on it and have a conversation. I'm close to throwing the whole front panel away and wiring the outlets and main cutoff switch to a piece of wood with an ignition key. Update: Amazon ended up refunding me without taking the return. 5 stars for Amazon, 2 stars for Pulsar since they got back to me after a week and mailed a solenoid out. (Common defect apparently) Update 2: I wired a 20 amp starter switch directly to the starter and use it as a backup now. I ordered $6 Amazon solenoid and that did the trick for the push button to work again. If the motor has warmed up, I can pull start it, but if it's cold for some reason I can't get it to start that way- and I pull start my 700cc ATV all the time. ... show more

  • It's a brute that is super quiet. I'll put it up against the predator any day
Pattern Name: Electricity Generator
I've had this generator for almost a year now. It's been used on my jobsites, 4 days straight at music festivals to power my camper. It'll power my entire camper with the ac running, microwave, and all the lights. It's surprisingly quiet especially on the low idle mode. With that being said, there are some bad. The wheels are bent, and the electric start only worked twice and then it quit. Make sure you run 91 ethanol free fuel, follow the break in procedure and change the oil more than it calls for. The break in period is extremely important. ... show more

  • So far, so good.
Pattern Name: Electricity Generator
I had bought an AiPower unit to replace my old Generac, but it first arrived damaged (as did the second one received!) and it failed in 6 hours of use. This Pulsar was my replacement for that. I have only run it thru the 5 hr break-in period, first with LP and then with gasoline. Impressions: It is generally a good unit. I had one issue getting it to start on gasoline when I shut it down to add more fuel....it would start for just a moment and then die. Perhaps I had a vapor lock in a gas line? Let it rest for 10 minutes and it started/ran fine. Changing the oil is a bit of a pain, as you need to tilt the unit to drain it well. The drain on the carb bowl works and if you leave the fuel selector on, it will drain the tank pretty dry. The starter battery is a 12 Volt Lithium battery, so if you want to put a charger on it, make sure it is for Lithium batteries! ... show more

  • Quiet and powerful
Pattern Name: Electricity Generator
I needed to upgrade from my Onan 4500 to a larger unit with 240V capability. This unit arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Added the oil, connected the battery, started first attempt. Hooked it up to my cabin, was very impressed by the noise level, seems quieter than the smaller Onan unit (surprisingly). Runs all the loads easily, i have a deep well and this thing tool it in its stride. So far so good, very happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • Perfect so far!
Pattern Name: Electricity Generator
I recently purchased this Pulsar generator. I can't say I was expecting much based on the price and reviews, but it's been great so far! I love the GFCI protection on the 20 amp outlet, and the engine is very quiet. I might note that it's best to pull start it when running on propane, as the lines need to be purged before running, the choice of outlet selecyion is very thoughtful, as it has everything needed to get you started. It is also a very easy to move unit despite being heavy. The remote start also works very well. ... show more

  • Review updated, only ran for about an hour before dying and not starting back up.
Pattern Name: Electricity Generator
Well, I guess I should have waited to write my review until I used it for more than testing. Generator ran on propane for about 45 minutes, then shut off. It restarted easily with the remote, and ran another 15 minutes and shut off again. It started back up with remote again, and shut off after about 10 minutes. It was outside in the open so wasnt the carbon monoxide shut off, and it was a full 40 gallon propane tank. I switched over to gas, and had a half full tank. It never started. The battery ended dying from me trying to start it with the start button, so I tried pull starting it and still would not start. It has sta-bil fuel stabilizer in it to keep the fuel fresh, and I have started it and let it run for about 5 minutes once a month. It is only 4 months old, but of course out of the return window. I will be calling Pulsar first chance I get. Update: Called Pulsar was told to take it to the nearest repair shop. So of course I had to load it up and take it myself. That would not be a problem if the unit was older and used a decent amount. I am not satisfied at all with the generator and asked if they would just come pick it up and refund my money, but the rep said it needs to be diagnosed first. Again, this does not seem like the best practice for a generator that was used a little more than an hour and died. Will keep updating as I get more information. ... show more

  • Excellent Product!
Pattern Name: Electricity Generator
This is an excellent generator, I purchased this as a back up generator for my EG4 solar system (we live 100% Off Grid), it has pull start (this was too difficult for me...but, I am a senior citizen). It also has a built in battery, with an electric and a start and a little remote starter (both of these work very well), I only had to press the button on the generator or on the remote once and the generator started right away. Very impressed with the quality, it's quieter than a smaller 2200 watt generator I have, it came packaged with Everything you need, the oil, some tools, and the propane hose. I have only used this with propane, I personally do not like using gasoline. ... show more
