Description

8 oz total part A and B Smooth-On Psycho Paint is a versatile and easy to use platinum silicone paint base developed to help special effects and prosthetic artisans, doll makers, etc. easily create painted-on color effects for their platinum silicone creations. It is a two component translucent clear platinum- cure silicone that is used to make a base for color pigmenting. Once the desired color is attained, Psycho Paint is thinned with a solvent such as naptha (you can buy it from a paint store) or toluene. Doesnt have to be thinned. Thin layers of paint CAN be then be applied to a model's surface (made of Dragon Skin, Ecoflex or other platinum silicone) using an airbrush! In addition to painting the exterior of a cast piece, you can apply Psycho Paint to the inside of a platinum silicone or urethane rubber mold and then cast platinum silicone behind it. It can also be applied by brushing

This silicone base along with the pigments make painting my figures super amazing. I just found out about these types of paints so I’m no expert on how well they should work. I do know that after I painted my first figure, I knew that I would be using this stuff exclusively. You obviously have to take care to wear gloves and a mask but you get excellent results after mixing everything. I would also say that it’s very user friendly. I used the silc pig pigments for my first body as recommended by the instructions. But I was also able to use some other pigments that I had to make even more colors. You have to work pretty quickly so that the paint doesn’t dry up but that may have been user error on my part. The paint doesn’t crack up when you move the joints of the figure; so I was sold right there. I can say that I am glad that I was able to try out this paint system. Definitely would recommend it to anyone wanting a custom look for their rubber action figures. ... show more

I paint my silicone babies with this and wanted the large container so I wouldn’t run out so quick. I always use a clean new popsicle stick a separate one for A & B and seal them right away very tight. Two days after opening them part B was half cured. I contacted the seller with no reply. So I’m very disappointed with it this time. ... show more

We got this to paint our silicone predator mask for a customer. We were going to use the silicone that we used to make the mask, but I liked it since it was no tack when it dried. Our dragon skin silicone had a tack to it and everything was sticking to it. So instead of painting with dragon skin we ordered psycho paint. It comes in an 8 oz kit. Which is perfect for one or two masks for us. We noticed it takes a few layers to do darker layers. We tinted the paint with silg pigs tints and they work perfectly. We can use quite a bit to get a darker pigment and it set up perfectly. ... show more

Works great for coloring/painting my silicone (platinum and tin cured) moulage pieces, but whatever is not used in the containers will begin to solidify over the next couple of months. After three months (post initial use/opening) and double-bagged in Ziplock freezer bags to reduce air exchange, I still had to scoop out 1/4 of a jar of Part B and throw it out. Solidified into a chunky cap. Rest below was thick, but okay. Part A just got more viscous. I live in a very low humidity area and the products were kept indoors (office). I give this product 2 stars because i did receive it on time but i have one problem with part B. Upon opening it , it was half hard . Difficult to work with I would like to know from some one what to do to get it soft . Part A is good but part B is the problem . I am very disappointed with my purchase and to know i payed almost 200.00 for it because our currency is 7tt dollars to 1 us dollar. ... show more
