Sturdy, collapsing with hard bottoms. These have a hard rim on top which keeps them standing up. Tight fitting heavy duty lids. I love! I have purchased other collapsible bowls for camping. The others haven’t had the hard rim or bottom and they collapse too easily even with food in them.

Only measurements provided were the capacities (in Cups) of the three bowls. I was trying to match an older Progressive collapsible bowl set, but these were much smaller. For those who might be tight for space, here are the dimensions: The small (RED) bowl: outside diameter 5-3/4”, inside diameter 4-1/4”, extended height 2-1/4”, compressed height 7/8”, capacity 1-1/2 cups. Medium (BLUE) bowl: o.d. 6-3/4”, i.d. 5-3/4”, ext ht 2-3/4”, comp ht 1-1/8”, cap 3C. Large (Green) bowl: o.d. 8-1/8”, i.d. 6-3/4”, ext ht 3”, comp ht 1”, cap 5C. They have a fairly wide upper lip, which is why I listed both inside and outside dimensions. The set seems very compact and would be useful in a small space like the RV’s galley. I prefer a larger bowl for mixing up pancake batter, though. We decided to return these and keep looking for a closer match to our old set of bowls. I have purchased three different silicone collapsible dog water bowls in the past 6 months. None have survived every day use. I have a large Progressive expandable bowl that has lasted me for years, so I went looking for a smaller set. Voila! When I found this set on Amazon, I grabbed it up. Granted, these are a bit more expensive than the silicone bowls, but in the long run, it will pay off. My husband drilled a hole in the small and medium size bowls and we attached the clip from the useless silicone bowls I had. These are so much sturdier, add no weight to our packs when we are walking the dogs, and even stay cleaner as the dirt doesn't "stick" in the crevices of my older bowls. These are wonderful for their space saving collaspability! The leak proof lids keeps food fresh for an amazing amount of time (okra looked just-cooked 3 wks after it was made). One lid, the one on the little red size, is soooooo tight weaker hands can't do or undo it. (I bought 2 sets, both reds the same flaw) B U T They melt on heat so don't confuse them with the silicone competitor that can go right into an oven AND Progressive makes 2 different versions of these containers and the way they are listed you think the TYPE OF LID is the only variant. Not so. The SNAP ON LID version has a midsection that's thinner than the rest of the bowl. The LEAKPROOF lid version does not have that design. The thin area is soo thin foods stain it from the inside clear through to its exterior! I try to show that in my images. I have never had a food container do this. I mean my fabulous spaghetti sauce stained the green clear through to the outside! Now its orangish inside and out. The snap-on lid doesn't snap it just lays on. And the leakproof ones are shaped differently. Its the one on the bottom in my picture. They are broader and shorter. Both versions hold odor and take a ton of washing with the hottest water and most concentrated soaps to rid food scents (in this case ditto for the silicone versions, even Clorox/Vinegar won't remove scents from these collapsibles). My suggestion is buy the leakproof version if you buy these at all. ... show more

They are of "medium" thickness. Doesn't look like you can microwave them for a long time which is Okay with me but just wanted to share that as an FYI. They make great storage bowls (2 options of storage per bowl - you can fully extend for full use or partially extend) plus they collapse easily. The lids are easy to put on and stay there. Not sure if they are "spill proof" as I've not tested it for that. I don't like a lot of clutter & so I love the ease of collapsing them for storage plus they hold up great. The lids are very easy to put on and stay there. At times, I don't have a lot of strength due to neck issues & these are a dream, utilization-wise. I've tried the ones with the "snapping" lids but the issue with those is that within a few months, some of the prongs "snapped" off. I tried the more expensive ones, "Joseph Joseph" and initially, I was delighted with them. However, over just a couple of months, some of them warped and so the lids didn't sync with the container & so that was a waste of money. From now on, these are my go-to. I gave it 4 stars for durability as I can't see it lasting for years on end. But, we'll see. :) ... show more

These are the perfect size for my small RV. They fit in the cabinet well but expand big enough for whatever cooking I'm doing. They clean up easily in the small sink and having lids is very helpful in keeping bugs out or storing leftovers
